(Englewood, Colo.) has /renounced its first delivery of a medical helicopter dedicated for emergency airborne transportation in Germany. The helicopter, an instrument flight rules (IFR)-equipped Bell 412 HP, was delivered to HDM Flugservice, GmbH. The helicopter is designed to transport either two inten- sive care patients or four acute care patients, in addi- tion to four medical profes- sionals and two_ IFR-certified pilots. New Task Group Participants are needed for a new task group on water vehicles t/sed in emergency medical ser- vices (EMS). The task group was formed by F30.01 on EMS equipment, a subcommittee of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards-writing Committee F-30 on Emergency Medical Services. The standards to be developed will benefit pro- fessionals in emergency medical services as well as the public requiring those services. The next two meetings of the task group will be held during the meetings of Committee F- 30 on May 3-6, 1992, in Pittsburgh, Penn., and Nov. 15-18 in Mia~, Fla. Committee F-30 is one of 132 ASTM technical standards-writing commit- tees. Organized in 1898, ASTM is one of the largest voluntary standards-devel- opment systems in the world. with AAA-Air Ambulance America of Austin, has announced that two $500 scholarships will be award- ed annually to students who are furthering their education in air medicine. These awards will be made in August 1992 for the 1992-93 school year. Applications will be accept- ed until May 15, 1992.

Gene Weatherall, chief of the TDH Bureau of Emergency Management, said, "A generous donation by AAA-Air Ambulance America made these schol- arships available. AAA-AIr Ambulance America is one of the oldest licensed fixed- wing programs in Texas, and we are proud and happy to co-sponsor this scholarship program." AAA has jets licensed by the Texas Department of Health for specialized ALS air ambulances stationed in

Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

Ambulatory Monitoring Inc. (Ardsley, N.Y.) has introduced the MiniMofionlogger Acfigraph model 21.220. Actigraphy is the detection of motor activity by accelerometry that pro- vides a significant source of physiological informa- tion from motion of the body and limbs.

This wristwatch-sized, lightweight actigraph incorporates many new fea- tures, including 20 differ- ent user-programmable combinations of sensitivity, gain and filter settings, analog signal processing, power conditioning, and digital logic.

This unobtrusive sensor may be worn on the wrist or other body part and incorporates a piezoelec- tric sensor, real time quartz clock and lithium battery in an aluminum, water-resistant case. Data recovery is through an IBM-compatible PC with graphic display capability.
