What did we learn from our conversations with manufacturers at the 20/20 Awards Dinners?

• Difficulty in delivering the products to market.

• How do we increase sales?

• Where and how do we find employees?

• Better yet, where and how do we find trained employees?

• How do we deal with the rising cost of health care?

• How do we create and maintain a safe workplace?

Just to name a few….

Next steps –

• Conducted a demographics survey of manufacturers in Wyoming• When we analyzed the information we

determined this was not what we needed to design training program to assist Wyoming manufacturers

Manufacturing Network Solutions

How do we address the needs of the manufacturers?

We contracted with Department of Research and Planning to perform a comprehensive survey to answer:

• Specific training needs for Wyoming manufacturers

• What kind of training can we offer to close the wage and gender gap?

• What kind of safety training is needed?

• What kind of front line supervisory training is needed?

• How can we help to remove the barriers to business growth?

Sustainability• We have a multi-faceted approach to achieving

sustainability for our industry partnership.

• The Manufacturers Solution Network will be an all-volunteer organization with the exception of a part-time executive director.

• In order to get the association up and running it will take assistance from an organization willing to provide financial assistance to contract with a person to perform the Executive Director duties on a part-time basis.

Manufacturing Network Solutions

Page 34: Industry Partnership Summary Presented to the Wyoming Workforce Development Council 6/9/11 Bruce Brown CPA MBA

Sustainability• The strength of the Association will be in

its members. We will assess member dues so we can make sure MSN and the industry partnership will be sustainable.

• Therefore, we will be looking for grants or other assistance to contract with and Executive Director until the association has enough dues paying members to be self-sustaining.

Manufacturing Network Solutions

Page 35: Industry Partnership Summary Presented to the Wyoming Workforce Development Council 6/9/11 Bruce Brown CPA MBA

Sustainability• When we have the Executive Director in

place that person will use the marketing brochure that we are developing as a part of these presentations to solicit membership in the MSN and we will be off and running!

• Interesting project and a worthwhile project for us to take on, already have a win…..

• Pertech Resources’ human resource professional, Caren Olson said she was able to incorporate social networking into her hiring procedure for hiring both inside and outside Wyoming. The use of social networking was discussed during one on our planning sessions and she took the idea generated at that meeting and turned it into a valuable resource.
