Warm greetings from BASE!
Welcome to the Foundation SnT Program. I am confident that this program will provide you the happiness of learning. Foundation SnT program is designed to be highly interactive and encourages you to be lot explanatory.
Start enjoying the concepts in Science and Mathematics. In fact the different branches of science are like different lenses to look at the World around us. Each subject provides some aspects of the world we live in.
Try to see these concepts in action in the things around you. You can then extend the horizons of your understanding to new things, innovate, discover and so on.
Appreciating Mathematics is critical to understanding everything else. Mathematics helps you to develop logic in thinking, reason out, evolve processes to understand, build models etc. It enhances your overall capability to appreciate Science.
I am sure your decision to go with the program and the involved work for the next two years, will put you in the coveted league of most successful individuals, be it a scientist, engineer, entrepreneur…
Wishing you the very Best for your journey through the Program.

About Foundation SnT
Foundation SnT is a two year program, for students during their class 9 and class 10.
Foundation SnT aims to strengthen students’ foundation in Science and Mathematics in the following ways:
(a) helps them to understand the basics thoroughly.
(b) provides adequate exposure to the application of concepts and problem solving.
The subjects taught in Foundation SnT include Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Foundation SnT student undergoes 300 + hours of training during the program. The distribution of the hours of training in each subject is shown in the table below:
Subject 1st Year (Hours) 2nd Year (Hours)
Physics 43 35
Chemistry 44 35
Mathematics 46 42
Biology 35 28

Benefits
Enabling Conceptual Clarity & Problem Solving Abilities.
Supports regular school studies.
Inculcates analytical thinking habits.
Helps in preparation towards competitive exams like NTSE, Olympiads, KVPY, JEE (Main), JEE (Advanced), NEET and CET etc.
Schedule The Schedule of Foundation SnT is worked out in such a way, that during the summer vacations 3 weeks of classes are held and the rest during weekends in the academic year.
6
To facilitate students’ preparation towards mid-term exams, classes will be held on only two weeks in September.
The general time table of the Foundation SnT is indicated below:

Methodology of training To derive maximum benefit from the program, the students should follow the methodology as given below:
Pre class preparation Printed courseware is made available to students in advance. Using this courseware, the students must come prepared to the classroom session. The sequence of teaching is given at the end of this booklet.
Classroom Sessions Foundation SnT sessions are designed to be interactive. The students need to actively participate in the classroom sessions. Essential aspects of learning include timely clarification of doubts and discussing subject-aspects with the teachers.
Components of the classroom Training Program: Each classroom session is conducted with multimedia aids. Tutorial sessions are conducted regularly in Physics, Chemistry,
Mathematics and Biology. A set of questions / problems is provided to the students to answer independently. Teachers will assist the students in answering/solving the questions and problems.
Conduct of Seminars after completion of each topic. Seminar is an opportunity for the students to play the role of teacher in setting questions and discussing answers.
Simple experiments and activities are conducted to aid better learning.
7
Post-Class work After attending each classroom session, students have to ensure that they complete the two most important aspects of post-class work:
Revision: Should use the printed courseware to revise the contents of each lecture.
Answer questions in exercises: Modules contain exercises at the end of each chapter. Students should answer all the questions under Mandatory set compulsorily and accept the challenge to solve all the exercises under Challenging set.
Printed Courseware
Printed Courseware consisting of 4 modules each in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, will be issued to students across the two years of the program. These modules are structured to help students in better learning.
Tutorial booklet: Tutorial booklet contain questions chapterwise, which the students need to solve in the classroom session. Questions in the tutorials are designed to test higher order thinking skills...
Worksheets (to support school curriculum)
Worksheets booklets contain questions similar to those given in school tests. tests conducted by Board. These questions appear chapter-wise, based on the school curriculum. Students enrolled in Foundation SnT are thus equipped to deal with the school curriculum comfortably.
Tests
3 tests in each year are scheduled.
1. The questions are designed to check the skills acquired by student in knowledge, understanding, application of concepts and analytical reasoning.
2. The scores of the students are supported by qualitative analysis of above skills with observations / suggestions by the teacher.
8
In addition, to help students prepare well for their school final examination, online practice tests on similar pattern of school examination are scheduled towards the end of academic sessions.
Admission to the 2nd year Foundation SnT training program is based on overall performance in tests during the 1st year.
