The Song

• The song is very dark and thin to begin with but gradually builds up every verse, adding more bass to begin with, leading to the climax when it builds into dubstep.

What would influence people to like this?

• By the time the song was released, dubstep had already blown up around the world. The uniquness off the song, with the acousticy, slow intro, means that this songs would not necessarily be played at dubstep events or ‘raves’.

• As the song was produced by Chase & Status, they would also have a big influence on who listened to it as their style is also reflected in the song. They also did a similarly structured song called ‘Flashing Lights’ earlier in the year which was also not played out by many dubstep DJs and instead more commercial, radio DJs.

• In addition, the acousticy part made it more appealing to the original Example fans as his last album was very housey and party-like, instead of the darkness of dubstep.

What The Fans Wear

• When I saw Example live, males were typically dressed in tshirts, flatcaps, jeans and canvas shoes, and females typically either wearing shorts, jeans or skirts, with t-shirts or crop tops and canvas shoes also.

• I feel this has been influenced by the urban fashion in general but also from the ‘rave’ culture.
