THEMATIC SESSION

BUSINESS MODELS & SOLUTIONS for the development of the Smart

City

New models of Economic Sustainability for the development of the

smart city 2.00 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Salone di Rappresentanza, Palazzo Tursi

It will be present a silmultaneous translation ita-eng-ita

The “construction” of a Smart City goes through the interaction of three “building

blocks”: technologies, actors (both public and private) and financing models.

Technology alone is not enough to turn a city into a smart city. It also need a shared

regulatory framework and a system of funding and incentives. The development of

innovative and intelligent devices and systems is the first step “to imagine” a smart

urban model. New business models are needed to implement and incorporate

innovative developments into a complex project. There is a legislation but there are

no application models that can finance and support smart city innovation projects.

This session focuses on this theme and presents some possible solutions and case

history.

❖ Business models adopted in Italian and European cities

❖ Types of business models: organic and additive. Pros and cons.

❖ Models and solutions of public and private partnership
