Quest’s

Foundation learning

Programme

A fun, free and practical training programme

for young people aged 16-18

What is Foundation Learning?

Foundation Learning provides greater opportunities for young

people to progress, through a personalised programme towards an

intended ‘destination’. Most young people will progress to Level 2

(Diplomas, Apprenticeships, GCSEs); others to independent living or

supported employment.

Foundation Learning gives young people the opportunity to gain

nationally recognised qualifications, and is made up of 3 key

elements: Functional Skills, Employability & Personal Development

and Vocational training.

• Functional Skills

Functional Skills (Maths, English and ICT) have a greater focus

on practical skills application, in order to enhance employability

and help you excel in the real world. Strong English, Maths and

ICT skills are important in whatever pathway you choose.

• Employability and Personal Development

This part of your programme will improve your chances of

progressing in education and gaining employment in any

industry or live a more independent life.

• Vocational Training

An ideal introduction to the Construction industry, this course allows

you to develop the essential skills needed in Construction.

This course is for anyone interested in a career repairing and

maintaining cars. It’s a solid introduction to mechanics and the

specialist roles of Automotive Technician or Mechanical Finisher.

understanding of hair, this course will give you enough to succeed in

a job in the hair and beauty industry, or move on to further study.

gain an insight, basic knowledge and understanding of the Retail

industry.

these, plus build your confidence. This course is for anyone

interested in starting a career in an office, using IT.
