1. BackgroundWhat is the background for this intervention? Why are you doing it?This illustration will show readers how to make cookies (the ingredients and steps) in a fun way. It can be used in a woman’s lifestyle magazine such as ‘Oprah’ or ‘Real Simple’.2. Target AudiencesWho do you want to reach with your communication? Be specific.I want readers to get excited about the cookies they are going to be making; get excited to make and also share the cookies with friends and family, maybe even share the recipe.3. ObjectivesWhat do you want your target audience to do after they hear, watch, or experience this communication?Bake and enjoy the specified cookies.4. ObstaclesWhat beliefs, cultural practices, pressures, and misinformation stand between your audience and the desired objectives? Some readers may have food allergies that will not be able to make the cookies. Other readers may not have the resources or time to make the cookies.5. Key BenefitSelect one single benefit that the audience will experience upon reading the objective(s) you have set.Enjoying and sharing the cookies.6. Support Statements/ Reasons WhyThese are the reasons why the key benefit outweighs the obstacles and the reasons that what you are promoting is beneficial. These reasons often become messages.Food allergies, which can be very serious, there can be alternatives for some of the ingredients. If people have an allergy to coconut and/or nuts they can change those ingredients to oats and dried cherries, for example. The recipe is easy to make alter due to food allergies or even personal taste, which makes it a great recipe. 7. ToneWhat feeling should your communication have? Should it be authoritative, light, or emotional? Pick a tone. The tone should be light and fun, it should show that baking can be fun and easy as well as simple. 8. MediaWhat channel(s) or form will the communication take? Television? Radio? Newspaper? Poster? Pointof-purchase? Flyer? All of the above? This will be in a magazine, it could also be placed in a magazine as a rip-away so that it can be easily stored in a recipe book or folder. It can also be viewed online at different cooking/food websites; something that can easily be printed.9. Creative ConsiderationsIs there anything else the creative people should know? Will it be in more than one language? Should they make sure that all nationalities are represented. No need for nationalities to be represented, it might have to be in another language if the specific magazine is printed in other countries besides the US.
