One thing I hope to get from this session
Outline Introduction Group work Opportunity for individual reflection and

Who are we? Why are we here? Alison and Judith have used social media to develop
professional networks and a growing expertise in digital curation which they share with colleagues within and beyond the workplace. A selection of these tools and resources are then used in their professional practice.
Alison discovered that a by-product of active social media engagement with academic staff and students has been the promotion of library services, and the opportunity to influence effective digital behaviour in the student community.
Judith will describe her experience with social media

What have I learned?
How do I do my job better? Hi Judith,This might sound a bit random, but because I have been working A LOT with marketing for a variety of reasons lately, there is this idea that came up to my mind.Basically the university provides FREE access to Mintel/Keynote reports through e-lib, which I for example didn't know even existed until i started my marketing module.
My ultimate point is that if you communicated to biosciences students that there are such things as Mintel/Keynote (free access through e-lib again) which are exceptionally useful for commercial awareness boosting before interviews/assessment centres this would probably benefit UoN student chances of getting a job!Let me know what you think and if you have any questions!
Best wishes,

With whom shall I share? Engaging with your students / faculty / clients Engaging with peers
Engaging with peers Learning Sharing good practice or resources Marketing your workplace / employer Marketing yourself
Curation – points to consider
What shall I keep? Where or what will I use to keep it? With whom shall I share it? How can I re-use it?
Group work What informal CPD opportunities are you aware
of and/or participate in? What benefits have you gained from doing so?
Do you share these? If so, with whom? Do you record these?
Who are your social media influencers? Do you actively manage your social media
profile?
