OVER 20 YEARS WE CARRY OUT OUR RESPONSIBILITIES WITH GREAT PRIDE

BEGINNINGSUniversity of Economics and Innovation in Lublin (WSEI) was established on the strength of the permission of the Minister of Education and Sport of 24th October 2000. WSEI is registered in the register of vocational higher education institutions in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the number 196. The founder of the University is Polish Foundation of the Opportunities Industrialization Centers „OIC Poland”, which is  the private non-governmental organisation, based in Lublin. The Foundation was established in 1991 on initiative of members of the local society, who were interested in stimulating socio-economic development of Lublin Region.

OUR MISSIONThe mission of WSEI is to prepare the highly qualified professionals, who will be able to meet European standards and who then reinforce the human resources potential and enhance the capacity of local government institutions in  terms of public finance management, strategic planning or  absorption and management of EU funds. In the context of  economic development of the region those mentioned areas of activities are the key challenges that the public and private sector is to face in the next few years.

ACHIEVEMENTSWe strongly believe that educational activity of  our University will bring an immense impact on the development of career opportunities for our students for the benefit of Lublin Region. We are very proud of the position that WSEI has achieved over the years. We cannot think about those achievements without mentioning the people who contributed to  create its  structures from the beginning and are  doing it nowadays.

EDUCATIONWe owe our success mainly to a high level of education, which combines academic knowledge with a close relationship and practice of socio-economic life, which is  very rare among higher schools. The high level of educational process is  maintained by a diligently selected didactic staff with proper academic degrees and necessary academic experience. A great part of the staff has also significant practical experience derived from their non-academic activity. Such an excellent team is a guarantee of a high level of education relating to economic realities of our region, meeting the EU requirements.

University of Economics and Innovation conducts extensive cooperation with many universities and research institutions. Cooperation includes research and teaching activities, as well as cooperation in the field of European projects related to education, entrepreneurship, assistance for students and graduates.WSEI has actively participated in the Life Long Learning Program – Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, which were international student exchange programs. Currently, the University takes an active part in the implementation of ERASMUS + Program, which is an extension of the previous programs co-financed by  the EU, including the Life Long Learning Program. WSEI also participates in exchange of students and staff under the Scholarship and Training Fund. The school offers, to its own students, possibility of studying abroad (in partner universities), and accepts students from partner universities to carry out part of their studies. Students participating in the mobility programs retain student status and all rights connected with this status, including the rights to  receive social and scientific scholarships of their alma maters. Successful completion of semester is done thanks to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). WSEI conducts also an exchange of academic staff, including inter alia visiting academic staff in universities abroad, during which employees from WSEI conduct classes for students of partner universities.

ERASMUS+ is a program for universities, students and employees. The aim is to support international cooperation in  higher education, to allow students to travel abroad for part of  their studies and practice, to promote the mobility of university staff, and  to give universities the opportunity to participate in projects with their foreign partners.

In the frame of Erasmus+ WSEI implements:1. Studies – a semester or a year at a university in another

country for full-time and part-time students at WSEI2. Traineeships and internships – WSEI students can travel

to  all European countries for a period of 2 to 12 months for  apprenticeship and increase their chances of finding employment both at home and abroad

Benefits of going to study abroad: Learning in a foreign language student environment Getting to know another country, another culture Ability to establish contacts, gain new friends Improving your foreign language skillsBasic principles of the Erasmus + program: Eligibility for the Erasmus+ scholarship is available to

students of all degree programs leading to gaining a bachelor’s or  master’s degree, officially registered at the institution eligible for the program. The student has 12 months of mobility within one study cycle

to use. This mobility relates to study trips and internships in the frame of the Erasmus+ program Studying at a partner university is an integral part of a

student’s study program WSEI as a home institution recognizes the duration of studies

at a partner university as equivalent to the period of study at WSEI. Departure may take place at the earliest in the second year

of studies The student cannot go abroad for the last semester of first

and second degree studies

FORM OF STUDYPractical profile of studiesThe advantage of the university, is a strong link between didactic activities and business practice. WSEI constantly rebuilds its programs and  forms of education, adapting them to the needs of  employers. Curricula are prepared together with the practitioners of economic and social life. These practitioners also conduct workshops for students. The university has signed a number of agreements with strategic partners, i.e. institutions and companies in which students can hold their practices, and in which practitioners to conduct classes with students are recruited.Strategic Partners also participate in the education of students WSEI by organizing apprenticeships and internships for graduates. Students, three times throughout the course of education (after I, II and III year), held a 15-week paid internship/training (for students, who are not working) in the chosen company. Thanks to this, WSEI is able to practically prepare it’s graduates to properly perform their work after graduation.Modular organization of studyInstead of traditional subjects, WSEI has introduced modules, into its educational program. Modules are implemented through active forms of teaching, important in the process of  building the competencies and  skills. Modular studies allow to acquire competencies in many fields and use gained knowledge. Such studies, allow also to make contact with the  employer, become familiar with market realities, and to shape the path of study in a flexible way. Each module consists of five components:1. Lectures – aimed at transfer and organization of necessary

knowledge2. Classes – aimed at learning how to use theoretical knowledge

in practice3. E-learning – allows Students to supplement and extend

part of the course and solving tasks and tests anytime and anywhere with Internet access

4. Workshops with the participation of employers – allows Students to become familiar with the working environment. Classes carried out both in companies and in university

5. Own work – aimed at acquisition and perfection of the competences by the individual and group projects.
