Why?Why is the website getting design?
Who is the website getting designed for?
What can help:
Audience: the users and their goals and objectives.
• Knowing the proper definition of 'audience'.
• Visualizing your audience.
use scenarios and / or stories
When Starting a WebsiteAvoid:
• Defining your audience by the technology they use.
• Focusing on your needs instead of your audience.• Utilitarianism
• Neglecting important departments / information.
• Listen to those who have the BEST idea of who the audience should be, the most.
Prevention Tips:• Define beforehand what the user experience should be.• Understand how the user will react to the website.
When Starting a Website
After the initial step of setting goals, it gets easier!
• get familiar with those you will be working with.
• have an open discussion to determine the audience and get everyone on the same page.
Contents1. Define the Audience
2. Create Scenarios
3. Competitive Analysis
4. Design Document:Audience, Scenarios, and Competitive Analysis
Define the Audience
Create a list Ask others
Break it into Categories
Audience Categories: Dealership
Buyer: o people who need the right caro needs a car within the next couple monthso people unsure
Others:
o people trying to learno possible investorso those searching for different kinds of information
The List
• rank audience list• share the results and evaluate them• come up with goals and evaluate those
Create Scenarios
-This process helps the designer visualize the site -when you have createda scenario you can then feel what the experience would be like navigating the site
oh the possibilities
try to have multiple scenarios for multiple users so you can get an idea of what your main visitors will be
-usually 3 to 6 scenarios are good but you may need to do up to 20 the MORE the BETTER
The character
you must create a character for each user -name-background-a task (what they want out of the site)
Once you have these in place you can formulate a story and see how the character would research what they are looking for
What do YOU THINKUsing your imagination and creativity can be fun while making ascenario for the user but it can be TIME CONSUMING!!!!!!!
Design Document
1. Create a new chapter in your document called "User Experience"
2. Define the user Experience!
