My dog is bigmy bike is mediumMy ball is redMy book is beautifulmy dictionary is fun

Her dress... (Su vestido...[de ella])

O podemos decir:

Andrea's dress...

Page 8: Ingles papito enriquez

Paul's house... (La casa de Paul...)

Mary's bike...

The wheel of the bike... (La rueda de la bicicleta...)

Washington is the capital of the United States.

Question (pregunta):

Where is your sister? (¿Dónde está tu hermana?)

Answer (repuesta):

She is at my parent's. (Está en la casa de mis padres.)

Question (pregunta):

Whose house is this? (¿De quién es esta casa?)

Answer (repuesta):

It is Michael's.

Luis' house... (La casa de Luis....)

Ejemplos:

Page 9: Ingles papito enriquez

This house is mine. (Esta casa es mía.)

This sow is mineThis black bear is mineThis butterfly is mineThis computer is minethis bitch is mine

Quantifiers (Cuantificadores)

Page 54: Ingles papito enriquez

Cuantificador Contable IncontableMany XMuch XSome X XAny X XNo, none X XA lot of/Lots of X XLittle/A little XFew/A few X

Many

Significado: Mucho

Uso: Expresa la idea de gran cantidad. Es utilizado sobretodo en frases negativas e

interrogativas con el nombre contable en plural. Se puede usar "many" en frases afirmativas,

aunque no es muy común. Normalmente, usamos otros cuantificadores como "a lot."

Ejemplos:

Frase negativa:

There are not many tourists. (No hay muchos turistas.)

Frase interrogativa:

How many cats do you have? (¿Cuántos gatos tienes?)

Frase afirmativa:

We have many friends. (Tenemos muchos amigos.)

There are not many visitors

How many dogs do you have?

We have many brides

Page 55: Ingles papito enriquez

Ejemplos:

There are too many changes for me. (Hay demasiados cambios para mi.)

There are so many things I want to do! (¡Hay tantas cosas que deseo hacer!)

There are so many tables that I want to move!

There are so many boxes that I want change!

There are so many chairs you want to remove!

Much

Significado: Mucho

negativas e interrogativas.

Ejemplos:

Frase negativa:

There is not much time. (No hay mucho tiempo.)

Frase interrogativa:

How much money does he have? (¿Cuánto dinero tiene?)

Frase afirmativa:

We have much to do! (¡Tenemos mucho para hacer!)

There is not much money

How much time. does he have?

Page 56: Ingles papito enriquez

We have much money to do!

Ejemplos:

There is too much work. (Hay demasiado trabajo.)

We have so much work to do! (¡Tenemos tanto trabajo que hacer!)

There is too much tables

We have so much tables to do!

There is too much boxes

Some

Significado: Algunos, unos

Ejemplos:

Frase afirmativa/nombre contable:

She has some apples. (Tiene algunas manzanas.)

Frase afirmativa/nombre incontable:

There is some milk in the kitchen. (Hay leche en la cocina.)

Frase interrogativa/nombre contable:

Frase interrogativa/nombre incontable:

Is there some sugar? (¿Hay azúcar?)

Page 57: Ingles papito enriquez

She has some tables

There is some water in the bottle.

Frase interrogativa/nombre incontable:

Is there any milk? (¿Hay leche?)

Are there any back?

Is there any cheese?

Are there any flight?

No, None

Significado: No, ninguno

Page 58: Ingles papito enriquez

Ejemplos:

Nombre contable:

How many pencils are there? None. (¿Cuántos lápices hay? Ninguno.)

Nombre contable:

general, "lots of" es más informal.

Ejemplos:

He has a lot of books. (Tiene muchos libros.)

Nombre contable:

He does not have a lot of books. (No tiene muchos libros.)

Little/A little

Significado: Poco/s

Si usas "a little", significa una

Ejemplos:

Frase interrogativa:

Do you have a little money? (¿Tienes un poco dinero?)

Frase afirmativa:

We have little time. (Tenemos poco tiempo.)

Do you have a little hungry?

We have little amount of food.

Got a little lazy to do homework?

Few/A few

Significado: Poco/s

Ejemplos:

Page 60: Ingles papito enriquez

Frase interrogativa:

Do you have a few dollars? (¿Tienes unos dólares?)

Frase afirmativa:

There are few tourists here today. (Hay pocos turistas aquí hoy.)

There are few visitors here.

Uncountable Nouns (Los nombres incontables)

Page 61: Ingles papito enriquez

salt (sal), wood (madera), tea (té), wine (vino), sugar (azúcar), bread (pan), furniture(muebles), hair (pelo), information (información), money (dinero), weather (tiempo), rice(arroz)

Ejemplos:

a gram of salt (un gramo de sal)

a piece of wood (un trozo de madera)

two cups of tea (dos tazas de té)

three glasses of wine (tres vasos de vino)

Nombres incontables no tienen una forma plural:

Page 62: Ingles papito enriquez

Ejemplos:

an apple (una manzana)

a house (una casa)

a beer

a cigarette

a table

No podemos usar "a" o "an" con nombres incontables.

Ejemplos:

three apples (tres manzanas)

five houses (cinco casas)

ten beers

five cigarettes

seven tables

There be (Haber)

There is

Page 63: Ingles papito enriquez

Se utiliza "there is" con nombres contables en singular y con incontables. Hay una forma corta:

"there's".

Ejemplos:

There's one car. (Hay un coche.)

Is there a pen? (¿Hay un bolígrafo?)

Incontables

There is milk. (Hay leche.)

There are

Se utiliza "there are" sólo con nombres contables en plural. No hay una forma corta.

Ejemplos:

There are five pencils. (Hay cinco lápices.)

There are not two cars. (Hay dos coches.)

Are there many people? (¿Hay mucha gente?)

There's one cars

There is not an apples.

Page 64: Ingles papito enriquez

There v. It

Ejemplos:

There is a pen on the table. It is my pen. (Hay un bolígrafo en la mesa. Es mi bolígrafo.)

There is a car in the garage. It is blue. (Hay un coche en el garaje. Es azul.)

There is milk. It is in the refrigerator. (Hay leche. Está en la nevera.)

Adjectives (Adjetivos)

Ejemplos:

the tall man (el hombre alto)

a happy child (un niño contento)

a dark street (una calle oscura)

a Spanish woman (una mujer española)

Verbs (Los verbos)

"to eat" (comer), "to change" (cambiar), etc.

To be (ser/estar)

To have (tener/haber)

To do (hacer)

To make (hacer)

To take (tomar/coger)

To get (conseguir)

To go (ir)

To come (venir)

To leave (salir/irse)

To know (saber/conocer)

Auxiliary Verbs (Verbos auxiliares)

Hay tres verbos importantes en inglés que se pueden usar como verbos principales o verbos auxiliares: "to be", "to have" y "to do".

To be (ser/estar)

Sujeto Presente simpleI amYou, We, They areHe, She, It is

To have (haber)

Sujeto Presente simpleI, You, We, They haveHe, She, It has

To do

Page 71: Ingles papito enriquez

Sujeto Presente simpleI, You, We, They doHe, She, It does

Short forms (Formas cortas)

He's got big feet.

No

usamos la forma corta de "to have" para indicar posesión. Veremos ejemplos del uso de la

forma corta de "to have" en la lección del presente perfecto.

Para indicar posesión, no podemos decir:

I've car.

He's blue eyes.

To do

Ejemplos:

Where's the concert? (¿Dónde es el concierto?)

Who's that? (¿Quién es?)

How's your father? (¿Cómo está tu padre?)

Here's the book. (Aquí está el libro.)

Where is lunch?

Ejemplos:

Involuntaria:

I (can) see you. (Te veo.)

I am seeing you.

It smells like you are cooking something. (Huele como que estás cocinando algo.)

It is smelling like you are cooking something.

Voluntaria:

I am seeing you later, right? (¿Te veré luego, no?)

I see you later, right?

I taste the soup right now.

I'm testing to see if the cast is as good as it smells.

Page 75: Ingles papito enriquez

Will I see you tomorrow, right?)

It smells like something you are perfuming

Verbos emotivos:

Ejemplos:

You're lying. I don't believe you!

You're lying. I am not believing you!

Don't worry, he understands you.

Don't worry, he is understanding you.

You think there is something wrong?

You are sick.

You're doing the ridiculous.

Diego needs a new phone.

be (ser, estar), cost (costar), seem (parecer), need (necesitar), care (importar), contain(contener), exist (existir)

Ejemplos:

I have [I've got] a car.

I am having a car.

That is belonging to me!

I have a motorcycle.

I am eating breakfast right now.

Ann owned a car when I lived in Quito.

What belongs to me!

belong (pertenecer), have (poseer), possess (poseer), own (poseer)

Constructing Sentences (Construir frases)

Page 78: Ingles papito enriquez

Affirmative Sentences (Frases afirmativas)

Estructura Sujeto + verbo + nombre, adjetivo...

Ejemplos:

I'm happy. (Estoy contento.)

She likes ice cream. (Le gusta el helado.)

We live in Madrid. (Vivimos en Madrid.)

They have [they've got] a car. (Tienen un coche.)

I'm upset.

He likes the ceviche

We live in Huaca

They have a motel

Negative Sentences (Frases negativas)

EstructuraSujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to do") + auxiliar negativo + verbo principal + nombre, adjetivo...

Ejemplos

She doesn't like ice cream. (No le gusta el helado.)

We don't live in Madrid. (No vivimos en Madrid.)

They don't have [haven't got] a car.

Page 79: Ingles papito enriquez

EstructuraSujeto + verbo + auxiliar negativo + nombre, adjetivo...

Ejemplos

I'm not happy. (No estoy contento.)

They've not [they haven't] got a car. (No tienen un coche.)

I'm not mad

They have a hotel

I'm not celebrating

Interrogative Sentences (Frases interogativas)

EstructuraVerbo auxiliar ("to do") + sujeto + verbo + nombre, adjetivo...

Ejemplos

Does she like ice cream? (¿Le gusta el helado?)

Do you live in Madrid? (¿Vives en Madrid?)

Do they have a car? (¿Tienen un coche?)

Do you like the ride?

Page 80: Ingles papito enriquez

Do you live in Ecuador?

Do you have a house?

Con los verbos "to be" (ser/estar) y "have got" (tener).

EstructuraVerbo + sujeto + nombre, adjetivo...

Ejemplos

Is he happy? (¿Está contento?)

Have they got a car? (¿Tienen un coche?)

Are you upset?

Do you have a closet?

Are you singing?

Imperative Sentences (Frases imperativas)

Imperative Sentences (Frases imperativas)

Ejemplos:

Do your homework!

(¡Haz los deberes!)

Wash your hands!

(¡Lavaros las manos!)

Tell me the truth!

(¡Dime la verdad!)

Do your errands!

Page 81: Ingles papito enriquez

Wash our face!

Tell me the fortune!

EstructuraVerbo + nombre, adjetivo...

El imperativo negativo

Do not lie to me!

(¡No me mientas!)

Do not wash in the washing machine.

(No lo lave en la lavadora.)

Don't hit your sister!

(¡No le pegues a tu hermana!)

No outrages me!

Do not wash in the kitchen

Do not hit your mother!

EstructuraVerbo auxiliar ("to do") + auxiliar negativo ("not") + verbo + nombre, adjetivo...

Si queremos incluirnos a nosotros mismos, usamos "let's".

Ejemplos:

Let's go!

(¡Nos vamos!)

Let's not fight.

(No nos peleemos.)

We were!

We love

Page 82: Ingles papito enriquez

We said goodbye!

We are not outraged

Present Simple (Presente simple)

Sujeto ConjugaciónI, You, We, They talk, eat, learn, do, go...He, She, It talks, eats, learns, does, goes...

ADVERBS (ADVERBIOS)

Adverbs: Form and Function (Los adverbios: La forma y el funcionamiento)

Ejemplo:

She speaks quickly.

Grammatical Rules (Reglas gramaticales)

Page 103: Ingles papito enriquez

o Ejemplos:

quick →

quickly (rápido → rápidamente)

honest →

honestly (honrado → honradamente)

terrible →

terribly (terrible → terriblemente)

true →

Page 104: Ingles papito enriquez

truly (verdad → verdaderamente)

Ejemplos: Verbo

Miguel runs fast. (Miguel corre rápido.)

You speak loudly. (Hablas alto.)

Julia cook relly fast

Andres prepare coffe slowing

Adverbio

He runs really fast.

(Él corre muy rápido.)

You speak very loudly. (Hablas muy alto.)

Adjetivo

I am very happy. (Estoy muy contenta.)

She is really nice. (Ella es muy simpática.)

Page 105: Ingles papito enriquez

Types of Adverbs (Tipos de adverbios)

We went to Paris last year. (Fuimos a París el año pasado.)

I already finished my homework. (Ya he acabado los deberes.)

See you later! (¡Hasta luego!)

2. Nota: "Yet" siempre va al final de la oración y "still" va adelante del verbo, excepto con "to be," cuando va detrás del verbo.

I haven't finished yet. (No he acabado todavía.)

He still needs to finish his homework. (Todavía necesita acabar los deberes.)

I am still waiting. (Todavía estoy esperando.)

today, tomorrow, last week, next month, already, eventually, still, soon, yet, now,

Page 106: Ingles papito enriquez

Gerund (Gerundio)

Grammatical Rules (Reglas gramaticales)

o Ejemplos:

o Objeto

I like cooking./I like to cook. (Me gusta cocinar.)She continued working./She continued to work. (Continuó trabajando.)

o Sujeto

Swimming is good exercise. (Nadar es un buen ejercicio.)Drinking and driving is dangerous. (Beber y conducir es peligroso.)

o Complemento

The best thing to do when you are sick is to drink a lot of water. My favorite exercise is swimming. (Mi ejercicio favorito es la natación.)

o Ejemplos:

I can't afford to buy a new car. (No puede permitirse comprar un coche nuevo.)He began to doubt himself./He began doubting himself. (Comenzó a dudar de sí mismo.)They decided to move to Australia in May. (Decidieron mudarse a Australia en Mayo.)I enjoy listening to music. (Disfruto escuchar música.)She hates studying./She hates to study. (Odia estudiar.)You love dancing./You love to dance. (Te encanta bailar.)

o

Page 111: Ingles papito enriquez

He needed to leave class early because he had an appointment. She can't tolerate complaining. (No puede tolerar quejas.)I tried learning English./I tried to learn English. (He intentado aprender inglés.)

Page 112: Ingles papito enriquez

Tolerate X  Try X XUnderstand X  Want   XWish X X

o Ejemplos:

I forgot writing that email./I forgot to write that email. (Me olvidé escribiendo ese correo electrónico./Me olvidé de escribir el correo electrónico.)Stop watching the television./Stop to watch the news.

forget, mean, remember, stop...

4. Se usa el infinitivo después de adjetivos.

o Ejemplos:

I'm glad to see you. (Me alegro de verte.)She was surprised to find the door unlocked. (Se sorprendió al encontrar la puerta abierta.)

disappointed, glad, happy, pleased, relieved, sad, surprised...

o Ejemplos:

He's good at listening. (Escucha bien.)I always read before going to bed. (Siempre leo antes de acostarme.)You can't leave without saying goodbye. (No puedes salir sin despedirte.)

about, against, at, after, before, by, on, without...

What is the advantage of waiting? (¿Cuál es la ventaja de esperar?)I am interested in taking an English class. (Estoy interesado en tomar una clase de inglés.)His problem finding a new job was his lack of experience.

advantage/disadvantage of, danger of, experience in, interested in, opportunity of, reason for, problem, use...

7. Se usa el gerundio después de unas expresiones o verbos frasales.to look forward to, to be worth, can't help, don't mind, feel like...

o Ejemplos:

We're really looking forward to seeing you. (Tenemos muchas ganas de verte.)That movie was not worth seeing. (No vale la pena ver esa película.)I can't help falling in love. (No puedo evitar enamorarme.)

¿Cuánto cuesta?

Why...? ¿Por qué...? Why are they here? ¿Por qué están aquí?Which...? ¿Cuál...? Which car is his?

1. Con los verbos "to be" (ser/estar) y "have got" (tener).

o Ejemplos:

What's the time? (¿Qué hora es?)Where are you? (¿Dónde estas?)When's he available? (¿Cuándo está disponsible?)How are the cookies? (¿Cómo estan las galletas?)

Page 114: Ingles papito enriquez

2. El resto de verbos.

o Ejemplos:

What do you like to eat? (¿Qué te gusta comer?)

Where does she work? (¿Dónde trabaja?)When do they go on vacation? (¿Cuándo van de vacaciones?)How do you use this machine? (¿Cómo usas esta máquina?)Why do you study English? (¿Por qué estudias inglés?)EstructuraPronombre interogativo + verbo auxiliar ("to do") + sujeto + verbo

+ nombre, adjetivo...

Grammatical Rules (Reglas gramaticales)

"Who" y "what" pueden actuar como objeto o como sujeto en una oración interrogativa. Si actúan como sujeto no utilizarán auxiliar (do, be...) para preguntar.

Ejemplo 1:

Oración principal:

Danny asks the teacher. (Dani pregunta al profesor.)Who asks the teacher? Danny. (¿Quién pregunta al profesor? Dani.)

Preguntamos por el objeto

Who did Danny ask? The teacher. (¿A quién preguntó Dani? Al profesor.)

Ejemplo 2:

Oración principal:

Something happens. (Algo pasa.)

Preguntamos por el sujeto:

What happens? Something. (¿Qué pasa? Algo.)

Ejemplo 3:

Oración principal:

Page 115: Ingles papito enriquez

Maria says "hello." (Maria dice "hola.")

Preguntamos por el objeto

What does Maria say? Hello. (¿Qué dice Maria? Hola.)

Ejemplos:

What are you thinking about? (¿En qué piensas?)Where's she driving to? (¿Hacia dónde está conduciendo?)Who are they laughing at?

Ejemplos:

You eat meat, don't you? (Comes carne, ¿verdad?)She doesn't like to dance, does she? (No le gusta bailar, ¿no?)Alex and Sergio are friends, aren't they? (Alex y Sergio son amigos, ¿no?)

Grammatical Rules (Reglas gramaticales)

Ejemplos:

Oraciones afirmativas

Your brother is older than you, isn't he? (Tu hermano es mayor que tú, ¿no es así?)You can help me, can't you? (Puedes ayudarme, ¿verdad?)John is getting married, isn't he? (John se casará, ¿verdad?)You worked yesterday, didn't you? (Trabajaste ayer, ¿no?)Sarah likes ice cream, doesn't she? (A Sarah le gusta el helado, ¿no?)

Oraciones negativas

You're not from here, are you? (No eres de aquí, ¿no?)Kate's not American, is she? (Kate no es americana, ¿verdad?)

Page 116: Ingles papito enriquez

Peter never liked Susan, did he? (A Peter nunca le gustó Susan, ¿verdad?)They didn't go to class yesterday, did they? (No fueron a la clase ayer, ¿verdad?)You can't dance, can you? (No puedes bailar, ¿no?)Nota: Con el verbo "to have", hay dos posibilidades:

Ejemplos:

United Kingdom

They've got a dog, haven't they? (Tienen un perro, ¿no?)

United States

They have a dog, don't they? (Tienen un perro, ¿no?)

Excepción:

Con el verbo "to be" en la primera persona de oraciones negativas, se usa "aren't" en la pregunta coletilla.

Ejemplos:

I am not wrong, am I?I am wrong, aren't I?

I am wrong, amn't I?TEMA 3What vs. Which (Cuál - Qué)

What

Ejemplos:

What is your favorite food? (¿Cuál es tu comida favorita?)What did you do yesterday? (¿Qué hiciste ayer?)What type of music do you like? (¿Qué tipo de música te gusta?)What would you like to drink? (¿Qué te gustaría beber?)

Which

Page 117: Ingles papito enriquez

Ejemplos:

Which jacket should I buy, the brown one or the black one? (¿Qué chaqueta debería comprar, la marrón o la negra?)Which of you would like to help me? (¿A cuál de vosotros le gustaría ayudarme?)Which would you like, wine or beer?

1 Past Simple (Pasado simple)

Grammatical Rules (Reglas gramaticales)

Form (Forma)

La forma es la misma para todas personas (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).

Ejemplos:

want →

wanted

learn →

learned

stay →

stayed

walk →

walked

Page 118: Ingles papito enriquez

show →

showed

i

Excepciones:

Verb Past Simple

Page 119: Ingles papito enriquez

be was (I, he, she, it) / were (you, we, they)

do didhave had

o Ejemplos:

[endid]

Page 120: Ingles papito enriquez

o waited

[weitid]

Structure (Estructura)

1. Affirmative Sentences (Frases afirmativas) o Ejemplos:o I wanted to dance. (Quería bailar.)o She was a doctor. (Era doctora.)o They learned English. (Aprendieron inglés.)o We believed him. (Le creímos.)

Sujeto + verbo principal.

2. Negative Sentences (Frases negativas) o Ejemplos:o I didn't want to dance. (No quería bailar.)o She wasn't a doctor. (No era doctora.)o They didn't learn English. (No aprendieron inglés)o We didn't believe him. (No le creímos.)

Sujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to do") + "not" + verbo principal.

3. Interrogative Sentences (Frases interrogativas) o Ejemplos:o Did you want to dance? (¿Querías bailar?)o Was she a doctor? (¿Era doctora?)o Did they learn English? (¿Aprendieron ingles?)o Did you believe him? (¿Le creíste?)

Verbo auxiliar ("to do") + sujeto + verbo principal?

o Ejemplos:

Page 121: Ingles papito enriquez

o Tom stayed at home last night. (Kate trabajó el sábado pasado.)o I didn't go to the party yesterday. (No fui a la fiesta ayer.)o Did they walk to school this morning?

o Ejemplos:o I received the good news and immediately called my husband.

(Recibí la buena noticia y llamé de inmediato a mi marido.)o He studied for an hour in the morning, worked all afternoon and didn't

return home until 10 at night.

o Ejemplos:o We always traveled to Cancun for vacation when we were young.

o He walked 5 kilometers every day to work. (Caminaba 5 kilómetros hasta el trabajo cada día.)

o Ejemplos:o I worked for many years in a museum. (Trabajaba en un museo

durante muchos años.)o She didn't eat meat for years. (No comía carne durante años.)

niño.)

2. Past Continuous (Pasado continuo)

Grammatical Rules (Reglas gramaticales)

Form (Forma)

Para formar el pasado continuo se utiliza el verbo auxiliar "to be" y el gerundio (infinitivo + "-ing") del verbo. El verbo auxiliar "to be" está en el pasado simple, pero ten en cuenta que "to be" es un verbo irregular.

Uses (Usos)

"When" y "while" señalan el uso del pasado simple y continuo. En general, usamos el pasado simple directamente después de "when" y el pasado continuo después de "while."

Uses (Usos)

Will you help me move? (¿Me ayudarás a mudarme?)

They will clean their rooms. (Limpiarán sus habitaciones.)

She won't work with Paul. (No trabajará con Paul.)

When I am president, I will lower taxes. (Cuando sea presidente, bajaré los impuestos.)

He promises he will call when he arrives. (Le prometio llamar cuando llegue.)

We're going to have a party tonight. (Vamos a dar una fiesta esta noche.)

Richard's going to take an English class.

Page 127: Ingles papito enriquez

Are Peter and you going to play football later? (¿Vas a jugar futbol luego?)

o Ejemplos:

It will be a great party. / It's going to be a great party. (Será una fiesta genial.)

It won't rain. / It's not going to rain.

Sarah is arriving tonight. (Sarah llega esta noche.)

'm going to the doctor this afternoon. (Voy al médico esta tarde.)

o Ejemplos:

The party starts at 9pm. (La fiesta empieza a las 21h.)

The train leaves at 10am. (El tren sale a las 10h.)
