INGREDIENT SPECIALITIES
Flavours / Food
We put a strong emphasis on raw materials that are compliant with food-legislation and thus, can be applied to a wide variety of ingredients within the food and be-verage industry. Our extensive portfolio contributes sig-nificantly to secure characteristic sensory profiles within flavour components for beverages, confectionery and bakery products, dairy products or seasonings. Due to their broad applicability, our products primarily ensure outstanding taste above all and are invariably aligned with today‘s consumer demands regarding indulgence and authenticity. At the same time, targeting natural-ness is key for Bell’s current and future developments.
Furthermore, we supply a comprehensive portfolio of Ingredient Specialities for the animal feed sector.
Our portfolio of Ingredient Specialities for flavours meets the
requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH regulation)
because they are solely manufactured (and imported) for REACH
exempted use. Therefore, according to Article 2(5)(b) of REACH
regulation, their use is restricted to the flavouring of food, feed, and
pharmaceutical drugs.

The production of carboxylic acid esters represents one of Bell‘s major strengths. Within the scope of this product category we supply a diverse range of distinct taste profiles – ranging from fruity notes to flavour components with a minty and green profile. As esters are used extensively in the flavour industry, our ester product range is applicable in a majority of sectors within it.

ESTERS OF 2-METHYLBUTYRIC ACID
Our expertise in aroma chemicals is appreciably characterised by the production of methylbutyric acid, which in turn enables us to produce the esters thereof in a highly efficient manner. The acid and its esters are applicable for use in fruity flavours, with a particular focus on tropical fruit profiles, as well as berry notes. In addition, the products are also suitable for the creation of characteristic cheese profiles.

Esters of 2-Methylbutyric Acid 13
Bell‘s broad product portfolio of citrus derivatives is based on the natural essential oils that comprise them. Within this category, we differentiate between DestolsTM
and ExtrolsTM. Our DestolsTM are concentrated citrus oils with a lower terpene content compared to the original oil. They are produced by concentration via rectification. Bell’s line of ExtrolsTM consists of citrus oil extracts in an alcohol-water mixture, obtained by a liquid-liquid extraction process.
Our citrus derivatives ensure multifaceted sensory profiles, which coupled with their excellent stability, allow for a myriad of possible uses within the flavour and food sector, especially for the development of clean label products. Nuances of classic taste directions such as lemon, lime and orange or even grapefruit and bitter orange, as well as the combination and use of our ExtrolsTM enable the creation of natural, fruity and refreshing taste profiles. In addition to the application within a wide range of product segments, citrus derivatives are commonly utilized in ingredients for both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

INGREDIENT SPECIALITIES
Flavours / Tobacco, Oral Care & Medical Devices
For the sensory enrichment of flavour components in applications such as tobacco products, oral care pro-ducts or medical devices, we offer an extensive reper-toire of products that meet the specific requirements of these categories, whilst providing a rounded sen-sory characteristic. A particular field of expertise for Bell is the creation of citric, fresh notes as well as fruity profiles.
Our portfolio of Ingredient Specialities for flavours for tobacco, oral
care and medical devices meets the requirements of Regulation
(EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH regulation) because of limiting manu-
factured (and imported) volume for REACH relevant use to < 1 ton/
year. Therefore, according to article 6(1) of REACH regulation these
substances do not need to be REACH registered by Bell Flavors &
Fragrances GmbH.
* Marked products are REACH registered by Bell Flavors & Fragrances
GmbH under the given REACH registration number and respective
tonnage band.
19
Our competence and knowledge in the field of carboxylic acid esters and acetals is reflected in a versatile product portfolio. Various fruit and gourmand notes, floral profiles and green flavour components of esters enrich product develop-ments in various categories and are primarily used in ingredients for tobacco products.

Bell‘s product portfolio of citrus derivatives is differentiated between DestolsTM and ExtrolsTM. Our DestolsTM are concentrated citrus oils with a lower terpene content compared to the original oil. They are produced by concentration via rectification.
Due to the excellent stability, as well as the diverse sensory profile of our citrus derivatives, they offer a multitude of applicational possibilities. Bell’s DestolsTM ensure striking taste experiences, specifically within flavour compo-nents for tobacco, shisha-tobacco and further products within this segment.

ROOTANOL DERIVATIVES
Bell‘s portfolio of rootanol derivatives includes the aromatic alcohol rootanol, produced in-house, as well as carboxylic acid esters made from this alcohol. The entire product ran-ge impresses with a unique fragrance characteristic stemming from an earthy rainforest base note. Their sensory range is what renders these products particularly versatile. An appropriate combination of the rootanol and its esters can create a wide range of rainfo-rest fragrances in the end applications.

Bell’s range of citrus derivatives for fragrances is based on the natural essential oils that comprise them. We differentiate between DestolsTM and ExtrolsTM. Our DestolsTM are concentrated citrus oils with a lower terpene content compared to the original oil. They are produced by concentration via rectification. Bell’s line of ExtrolsTM consists of citrus oil extracts in an alcohol-water mixture, which are gained by a liquid-liquid extraction process.
Due to the diverse sensory profile and the excellent stability of our citrus derivatives, they can be utilized to round off a wide range of fragrances and their end applications.

EXTRACT SPECIALITIES
Our extensive portfolio is rounded off by the creation of fragrance specialities based on natural raw materials, such as resins. Odour-relevant aroma substances are extracted from the resin using gentle extraction processes. Following the removal of the extraction agent by distillation, the resin extracts can be used in the form of ExtrolsTM in a suitable odourless solvent and applied to a wide assortment of fragrance end-uses. Alternatively, Bell’s resin extracts can be produced in the form of fixoresins as ethanolic solutions. Wit-hin this process, the odour-giving components are fixed in the final product after evapo-ration of the alcohol.
