20 October 2018 – KZN IVG & S Club – KZN IVG & S Club Breeding & Slaughter Goat Auction
Herewith some feedback on our KZN IVG & S Club's auction of 20 October 2018, as received from Club
Chairman Hilton Sanders:
Well all I can say is thank you Jesus and thank you to all who were involved in our auction either helping,
selling or buying.
A big thank you to our Sponsors RCL Foods (Epol/Molotek) for their donation of feed amounting to R1 200-
00.
Then a very big thank you goes to AFRIVET for their most generous sponsorship of both R10 000-00 cash and
their products amounting to R8 000-00.
Without these sponsorhips we as a club could not do half of what we do in a year.
So to Derek Coyne of Afrivet and Walter Hilderbrandt and Shanna Wood of RCL Foods (Epol/Moletek) thank
you for your involvement in our club firstly for the people that you are and then for facilitating the
sponsorships, Thank you.

As I stated at the commencement of the auction, we have started an award with the backing of both Afrivet
and Epol our sponsors, to acknowledge the emerging farmer that sells the highest priced ewe on each
auction.
This auction we have got two recipients for the Emerging Farmer Award for selling the highest priced ewes
by an emerging farmer.
M MBATHA and M MASOKA both of Msinga, who both sold a ewe (lot 65A & lot 65B respectively) for R2
700-00 each.
Congratulations guys! We hope to see you back at our next club auction with goats of the same high quality.
Each farmer will receive a 1 litre bottle of Eraditick, a 1 litre of Ovimin, a disease book as well as a bag of
Epol's Herbivour feed all valued at R1 200-00.
We are planing to have a presentation function in Msinga to hand over these items to these farmers as a
reward for their good efforts, in conjunction with our sponsors - Afrivet and RCL Foods - who will providing
training in the correct use/application of the products to the farmers in Msinga.
We as a management committee feel that it is our responsibility as the KZN IVG Club along with that of each
member to reach out and encourage, share knowledge with, as well as mentor the Emerging farmers and
any other goat farmer that needs a hand or encouragement.
The above along with the building of strong sound partnerships on all levels and aspects of the meat goat
industry in South / Southern Africa are two of the basic principals upon which the Club is being built. Hence
our farmers days that are hosted on different farms each time.
The meat goat industry in Southern Africa is one of the few agricultural industries that brings all of our race
groups and income brackets together, where the passion for these amazing animals we farm with transcends
all boundaries.
As soon as we have had the presentation ceremony of Awards, I will be posting lots of pics of the recipients
and the event.
The auction turned over R359 000-00!
154 animals were sold out of 155 entered = 98,35% sold.

27 October 2018 – Limpopo IVG Regional Club – Information Day in Polokwane
The Limpopo IVG Regional Club information day that was recently held at Dr Mathole s Farm in Polokwane
on the 27th of October 2018 was indeed a huge success. Members are still talking about this historic event.
It was an one of its kind event and a recruitment drive for new members. The club was able to recruit 20
new members following a successful presentation and demonstration by the Chairperson Mr Emmanuel
Mudau. This in simple terms tells us that indeed there is future in IVG, the turnout was a learning curve that
there are more indigenous goats farmers in limpopo than we could imagine. The Chairperson welcomed
new members with joy not forgetting the pressence of Voerdokter and Alzu Feeds who delivered
presentations on how best farmers can take care of their animals. According to Magda from Voerdokter
"prevention is better than cure".
