Who is the artist you have chosen to
make a song for and What is the name
of the song?
Who are you working with?
For my music video I will be working alongside Akasha. I have chosen to work
in a group so that there is a larger variety of ideas on how the music video
can be constructed.
The song that I am going to be using is “Get On” by Fay-Ann Lyons.
Are you going to have performance
and/or narrative in your music video?
For my music video I am just going to have a narrative as it will be rather
difficult to include a lot of performance as it is unlikely that the song is going to be repeated the amount of times that I will need it to in order for everything to fall into place. Therefore, by including
only a narrative I am able to keep to the conventions of the genre.
General overview of ideas for the
music video so far.
My general overview for my music video is that it is going to include
scenes from carnival and also demonstrate the ‘journey of
carnival’ including events such as panarama, the journey to carnival, jouvert and the procession itself.
Why is the idea appropriate
for the chosen song?
I think that this ideas is appropriate for the song that we have chosen as the song as it is
related to carnival. Therefore, by using the aspects that I intend to
include it links in with the conventions of the genre as most Soca videos have pre, during and
post carnival moments.
Idea link to the lyrics of the
song.
The idea that we have generated does link to the lyrics in the song
because they are about ‘getting on’ at carnival. ‘Getting on’ is a reference
for enjoying yourself. Therefore by using these aspects it shows what
has to be done in order for someone to ‘get on’ at carnival.
How does your idea fit
your genre?
My idea fits my genre by keeping to the stereotypical conventions of Soca music videos. This is the likes of having someone play steel pan,
showing everyone enjoying themselves at carnival and jouvert.
As well as this, the artist usually has the same amount of input into
the narrative of the video as the actors.
