Steps to using OAS

• Import or manually create IDs and passwords for all who will use OAS (teachers and students)

• Import or manually create classes in which to assign each student

• Create and assign tests for students• View reports on student performance

Step 1: Create Student and Teacher IDs and create Classes

through the Import process (option 1) or

manually create (option 2)

Option 1: Import students, teachers, and classes into OAS

• Create 3 files: student file, teacher file, class file in .txt or .csv format

• Verify the files for errors• Import the files into OAS

Once the three files have been created, verify the files

• Select Administration tab• Select Import Center

Select Create a new import job

Browse for and add in all three files (Select Classes to browse for and import class files, then select Teachers

and Students)

Once all 3 files have been added, click Verify

If the files are verified to be without fatal errors, proceed to scheduling the import

by clicking Schedule

Proceed to schedule the date and time of the import and click OK

Option 2: Manually create IDs and passwords for all users

Login with the ID and password provided by Riverside Publishing

To manually create teacher accounts, select the Administration tab

Select Create a new teacher

Fill in required information (fields with red check) and any other needed information (Note: Passwords must

be at least 6 characters in length)

Then click Submit

Repeat process to create an ID for each teacher who will be using OAS.

To manually create an ID for each student, select the Students tab

Select Create a new student

Fill in the required information (fields with red check) and any other desired information

Tip: for the Student Identifier, fill in with the same info as used for the Logon ID

For the Logon ID, you must use the student’s 10-digit Georgia Test ID

Then click Submit

• Repeat process to create an ID for each student who will be using OAS.

Next, to manually create a class or group for each student, select the Classes tab

Select Create a new class

Give the class a name and a unique identifier

Select the grade level of the students to be included in the group/class – the list of students in that grade level

should now be showing in the Students Available window

Select the names of the students to be added to the class, then click Add.

The students’ names should now be listed in the Students’ Enrolled window

Select the name of the teacher(s) associated with this class/group, then click Submit

Step 2: Create Tests

Select the Tests tab

Select Create a new test

Give the test a name and a unique identifier; choose any other desired options, then click Submit

Select a Subject for the test

Select a Grade level

Select a Standard

Note: All ELA and Math items for Grades 1-8 have been realigned to the new Common Core Standards (CCGPS); items can be selected by Standard and Sub-Standard.  Other subject areas remain aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) where Domain, Standard, and Element can be selected.

Select a Sub-Standard

Click Show Items

Put a check to the left of any and all items to be included in the test

When all items are selected, click Add Selected to Test

Make any needed changes or add more items (click Add Items to return to selecting items); when finished,

click Create Test

Once tests are created, tests need to be assigned to the class or group. From the Tests tab main menu, select the Assign Test(s) to class(es)

Select the class/group to which tests will be assigned

Click New

Select the test(s) to assign

Tests can be assigned on Mondays-Fridays during certain hours by specifying dates and times in the Dates Test(s) can be taken and

the Time Test(s) can be taken areas. For example, if times of 8:00am and 3:00pm are

entered, then the test is only available during

school hours for the specified dates.

Select any other test assignment options, then click Submit

If assignment is not for all students, select the student names to which the test will be assigned and click

Submit

Next steps:

• Students can log in and take the assigned test• Once students have completed the test, the

teachers and administrators can log in and view reports on students’ test performance.

Students log in with ID and password that has been created or imported

A student can take a pre-constructed test assigned by OAS by selecting the View Student Tests button ..or..

Students can take tests teachers have created and assigned by selecting the View Teacher Assigned Tests

button

Once the student has completed teacher assigned tests, teachers and administrators can log in and view reports from the Reports

tab

Select a category of report; choose a report from the list

Select the test on which you want to view results and click Next

Select the level at which you want to view results and click Next

Select the detail level you want, then click Next

Note: For the Summary Item Response Report, when the Report Type selection is By Question, you can place your mouse over the Domain name for additional information.
