INTRODUCTION TO COLLEGE

V.R.S College of Engineering and Technology was established in the year

1994 under the aegis of S.P.S. Educational trust. The college is functioning

with the approval of Government of TamilNadu and All India Council for

Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliation of Anna University, Chennai.

It has been accredited by NBA, New Delhi for few of its programmes and

recertified by ISO 9001:2008. It has been managed by Board of Governors

with Mrs.Vijaya Muthuvannan as its Chairperson and Mr.S.R.Ramanathan as

the secretary and correspondent. Mr.N.Muthuvannan is Director-Board of

Governors and Er.M.Saravanan looks after entire administration of the

college.

The College is situated at 17 km from Villupuram on the drive for Villupuram

- Tiruchirappalli National Highway and at 170 km south of Chennai. The

nearest Railway Station is Villupuram junction, whereas the nearest Sea and

Air Ports are at Chennai.

Students are offered a distinctive combination of some of the finest

undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with accomplished faculty.

At present, the college offers six bachelors degree programmes, five in

Engineering, one in Technology and two Post Graduate programmes. The

total annual sanctioned intake is 516 with 60 each in every Bachelor Degree

programme except Computer Science and Engineering & Electronics and

Communication Engineering, in which 120 is intake. The sanctioned intake

to each post graduate programme is 18. This Institution provides a variety of

stimulating environments for intellectual development, free thinking, and

personal growth. Students are provided with dynamic learning

opportunities to be equipped with the skills, insights, attitudes and

practical experiences, which are necessary to take up responsibilities in the

society.

Our college students had proved their potential and succeeded with

University ranks such as 1 , 4 , 7 , 12 and 13 in University of Madras

examinations and 3 & 6 in Anna University, Chennai examinations. Anna

University, Chennai has awarded the following marks based on our College

infrastructure facilities and staff strength: Mech-92.0%, Civil - 84.5%, CSE-

81.3%, EEE-83.1%a, ECE-82.7% and IT-79%. Our College has been awarded

with BEST ISTE CHAPTER AWARD in Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry Section for the

academic year 2009 - 2010, BEST ISTE FACULTY ADVISOR AWARD in Tamil

Nadu & Pondicherry Section for the academic year 2010-2011 and BEST ISTE

TRAINING & PLACEMENT CELL

Placement cell strives hard with confidence to develop employability skills

of the students by all means. It starts to provide soft skill training to

students from first year of their course. It helps /guides the students to

know their own field of specialization or career domain by conducting

interactive career guidance programmes. Further, it organizes add on skill

development programmes to improve their knowledge in their respective

domains and to transform them as industry ready professionals. It has been

providing 24 X 7 online soft skill test facilities to all students, to groom their

soft skill capabilities.

To establish healthy Industry-Institute partnership for providing Industry

visits, Inplant Training, Internship and Placement Opportunities to

students, it is signing Memorandum of Understanding with many Industries.

After imparting the required skills to students to make them employable, it

is being continuously interacting with Industries to know their needs in

terms of manpower recruitment.

Training and Placement Cell has sufficient infrastructure facilities like

Conference Room and Seminar Hall, which are equipped with projectors,

desktop systems to ensure that students get maximum benefit and make

them involved in day to day functioning of the Training and Placement Cell.
