Innovation & Influence: Startups Disrupting Tech
The inspiration and thought process that drive successful innovative influencers that are disrupting
technology.
Innovation & Influence Meet three successful, diverse (in culture and up-bringing), low-key entrepreneurs that are disrupting technology in different fields. • We all know the famous names that have disrupted
technology – but before they become famous, they are usually known in smaller circles. Who are some of these people?
• What are they like before they become insulated (from the public) by either fame or money?
• How did they get to where they are and what does the future hold – personally and in their respective fields?
Meet Lea Nesbit • Hard working boss lady
that balances a demanding career and family.
• Founder of LingualCare, an orthodontic product that changed the way we wear braces.
• She sold LingualCare to 3m in 2007.
Meet Mark Haidar • In his early 20s, escaped the
2006 Lebanese war and immigrated to America with less than $2,800 and the clothes on his back.
• Worked 3 jobs while getting his Master’s in Engineering at University of Detroit mercy.
• CEO/Founder of Vinli: a connected car device that turns most any car into an IoT (Internet of Things).
• Vinli raised over $6 million in their series A funding, has Samsung as an investor, has been compared as a likely, and successful, competitor to Apple in the connected car space by the New York Times.
Meet Sco9 Harper • All-American boy that grew up 1 of 6
kids and currently has 2.5 kids (one on the way).
• An education in engineering and finance.
• Co-founder of Dialexa: a technology company that specializes in building custom and complex software and hardware solutions.
• Scott has built or lead the teams that have disrupted the brokerage industry (with JLL’s HiRise), the social media industry, and the international airport industry, just to name a few.
Questions Answered We all want to know the answers to several questions. Who better to tell us than the successes that have yet to be “media trained”? • Even after being offered lucrative jobs, why did
these entrepreneurs give a shit to want to change their respective industries?
• Seriously though, is there a work-life balance when you're disrupting technology? If so, what has worked so far for each person?
• What's next for technology in their respective fields?
