Big data is a buzzword but also an actual catalyst for growth. The data is available and it is important to exploit it – big or small.
The trick is not to get access to the data or to process it– but to ask the right questions.

We saw a huge potential in beacon technology
– especially when the Alexandra Institute got the idea to incorporate sound.
When blind people can find their way by means of
sounds they activate, it has tremendous value for them.
Birgit ChristensenICT consultant at The Institute for the
Blind and Partially Sighted (IBOS)
Blind people find their way with audio beaconsCHALLENGE: A blind or partially sighted person may have difficulties in finding the reception, the toilets or a person in an unknown building.
SOLUTION: We have developed audio beacons that combine Bluetooth beacons, smartphones and sound messages. A blind or partially sighted person follows sounds that he or she activates by means of his or her mobile phone. The solution was developed in collaboration with the Institute for the Blind and Partially Sighted (IBOS), the Danish Association of the Blind, Bagvendt, and Living IT Lab. A beacon is a small radio transmitter that broadcasts messages and information automatically and directly to your location.

Two-factor authentication via mobile devicesCHALLENGE: Heste-nettet.dk had a two-factor login solution that used Youbikey’s U2F protocol via a computer’s USB. They wanted a solution to enable their employees to log in via their mobile devices as well.
SOLUTION: When the specifications for using the U2F protocol via near field communica-tion (NFC) were available at the end of June 2015, we developed an app for Android that is able to handle communication between the mobile phone browser and Youbikey. With this solution, Heste-nettet’s employees can simply download an app on their mobile devices. SE
