Doing things better – that has been our guiding thoughtfrom the start, and spans our entire company history. In the first ten years after the initial founding of the company in 1975, it referred to the shoring up our young, fledgling company, which at that time was operating as a sales agency.

The next ten years are marked by the development ofour own rotary lobe pump and the further expansion ofthe company, which at that stage still only operated on anational level. Our ambitious goal during this phase wasto construct a compact, stable rotary lobe pump with along operating lifetime and the ability to replace wearingparts quickly. This early goal not only represents the initial trigger for the six complete ranges that we havetoday in our extensive rotary lobe pump programme, butalso the hour of conception for the MIP Principle: Maintenance in Place – the simple and quick replacementof wearing parts in-situ by operating personnel. Today, allof Börger's products conform to the MIP Principle.

The years since 1995 brought continuous development ofthe product programme and with that our internationalbreakthrough. Today Börger enjoys a worldwide presence. This is thanks to a structured growth process, which does not depend on mass produced products butrather on individual products for specific areas of use andthe associated operating conditions.

In order to supply products which meet the require-ments of the different areas of use, we have developed a large and extensive product range.

The level of continuity and consistency in our productdevelopment demonstrates a considerable continuity ofeconomic growth as well as a well-maintained level ofmotivation of our employees due to secured, long-termwork places. This mature stability and our long-termperspectives derived from it are very important to us.That's why we also place a great deal of emphasis onlong-term and close cooperation with our suppliers. This idea of close cooperation is especially important. This is because it represents the shortest path from theinitial planning to checking the actual feasibility of a project. We treat our suppliers as partners in just thesame manner as we like to be treated by our customers.

Our most successful product developments are the result of direct discussions with our customers and understanding precisely what their requirements are.We do not view your problems as obstacles, but ratheras challenges.

Cogitative, Proactive Thinking:

Our practised company philosophy

What makes a product a good product? Of course, the quality of its construction, its reliability and

the service one receives as customer. Börger adds another important aspect of quality to this list:

the quality of the idea behind the product. That's why people say: at Börger, they think in pumps.

The rotary lobe pump, for example, was developed in itsday as a single product range. The ever increasing areasof use, however, led to the creation of the six ranges inuse today with a total of 17 rotary lobe pump sizes. Themany areas of customisation concerning materials, rotor geometry and seal elements have led to further diversification of the possible areas of use according tomodular design principles. The design and production orconstruction of a pump is carried out according to therequirements of its area of intended use.

Thanks to close dialogue with our customers, we candevelop not only this range of diversity concerning theproduct ranges as mentioned above, but also the diversemodifications, which allow our rotary lobe pumps to beused, for example, as mobile aggregates or immersionpumps.

On top of this, this innovation-oriented dialogue has alsoled to independent product development. Our macerationtechnology, for instance, has long since conquered themarket with products such as our powerful Multicrusheror the Multichopper. Products such as the universalauger feed screw, Powerfeed SSE and Bioselect also fitinto this category of development. Just as with our rotarylobe pumps, these products are also built according to theMIP Principle.

Today, Börger develops solutions for, amongst others, the oil and chemical industries, the agricultural andenergy industries, for nautical applications, for waterprocessing and purification plants, for certain areas ofthe food industry as well as for a number of highly-specialised applications. This huge market diversity places a great many different demands on our rotarylobe pumps and maceration equipment.

Real Patent!

Only cooperation and dialogue,

Lead to good results

Our philosophy of dialogue concerning specific areas of use has, over the years, led to an impressive, technologicalspectrum.

The characteristics of the pumping medium definethe requirements: the pump size, the rotor geometry, type of shaft seal and the materials used for all partsdepend on a large number of factors. The viscosity, abrasiveness, temperature, solids content, pH valueand volume of the pumping medium form only someof these parameters.

Different factors also need to be taken into accountwithin the area of conveyance and maceration equip-ment. However, Börger's rotary lobe pumps installedin the entire system always work together perfectly.

The most important step in design, is the surveying of the intended pump environment by Börger. This often leads to the creation of new constructionforms or new material decisions – many of the innovations to have come from Börger came aboutdue to customers placing specific demands on our R & D department. To be absolutely sure, Börgeroften provides its customers with a test pump.

Every single detail is important

6

The more individual a rotary lobe pump design is, the more successfully it will operate in its intended area of use.In this respect success depends on a number of factors. Aside from pumping ability, aspects such as quietness, long operational lifetimes and running costs are of particular importance.

Today, rotary lobe pumps produced by Börger are used in many

different industries and diverse applications. At Börger you won't

be buying into any unseen risks: we guarantee all our customers

thorough consultation and guidance, which take account of all

decisive factors.

Quite unconventional sometimes

Many family-run businesses are based on hierarchicalstructures. Not so with Börger. Our level organisationalstructure means faster channels of communication. Initiative and an independent working-style are both desired and promoted throughout all areas of the company. We also do our best to keep developmentpaths as short as possible – sometimes, in order to answer feasibility questions, a prototype will be built before plans are even drawn up. So that we can properlypromote the creative process of development, the employees of our suppliers are included in the processas well as our own employees. In this way, we can solveproblems in the shortest possible time.

Training – investment in the future

In the end, a continual story of success concerning company's history always comes down to the people involved. That's why we are always pleased to providetraining, going to great lengths to seek out good traineesso that we can eventually offer them permanent placeswithin the company. On top of this, we want to make surethat what makes Börger such an international success, our intelligent engagement, will still be available in thefuture. This idea of continuity concerning employees is avery significant growth factor. However, such growthalso requires the readiness to accept risks, foresightedplanning and boldness.

The Human Factor

We don't just do what the customer wants – we do what's necessary to make our customers successful. This productive, working exchange between our customers and engineers together with our high degree of precisionduring construction and in the workshop always leads to better results.

Of course, at Börger we also understand that the end-price plays an important role in competition. Butthe purchase costs of a pump do not say anything aboutits cost effectiveness. These economics can only reallybe worked out over the mid to long-term. Naturally,we'll be pleased to work out how much you could save onthe cost of energy and replacement parts over the yearswith a rotary lobe pump from Börger.

Börger products are also highly efficient thanks to their extremely short periods of downtime needed forreplacing parts. The less prone to failure a component is and the easier it is to replace, the more economicalthe pump is as a whole. The Maintenance in Place Concept from Börger guarantees that, when needed, thereplacement of wearing parts can be carried out in theblink of an eye by regular employees directly in-situ without any de-installation.

German Quality

in the International Arena

14

Is German manufacturing quality still affordable these days? At Börger we think so. Because true quality alwayspays for itself in the end. For this reason, Börger still bases its production facilities at Borken-Weseke. Many individual parts are produced by our suppliers in the region. The concept is as follows: climbing production numbers and worldwide customer satisfaction justify our reluctance to leave our production facilities in Germany.

The Börger Chronicles

Whoever wants to be successful in the future, must take action now. For all those who would like to know exactlyhow Börger became what it is today, we have put together a list of the most important steps in our company's development.

18

Imagebroschuere_GB:Boerger 11.06.2010 11:52 Uhr Seite 20

2004 Product innovation: With the Powerfeed SSR, Börger presents a new insertion method for inserting solids inflowing liquids. The intended areas of use include thebooming biogas sector. The principle is so simple yet incredibly successful. The solids are introduced to fluidflowing through a pipe using a combination of a spiral and ascrewed spindle.

2005 Innovations and other product developments are presentedat the foremost, international trade fair IFAT in Munich, with the Optimum Rotors in prime focus. Börger's cata-logue is furthermore presented at 20 more global tradefairs. With the launch of the new XL rotary lobe pump,Börger now offered the largest rotary pump in the world. The pumping volume totals 1,000 m³/h (4,400 usgpm).

2006 Börger – the next generation: with the appointment ofAnne Börger-Olthoff to the Management Board, our customers and partners can rest assured that thecompany will continue to remain in family hands. Thismeans more fair deals as partners together with innova-tion and risk acceptance. Happy end of year figures –Börger's global presence shows visibly good results:growth in sales figures exceeds the 40% mark for the firsttime. A victory for quality: the world demands rotary lobepumps from Börger!

2006/07 Börger finally covers all bases with the design andlaunch of the EL range and now offers pumps with capacities from 1 - 1,000 m³ (4.4 - 4,400 usgpm) with itssix ranges of pumps and 16 sizes. Furthermore, all rotary lobe pumps from Börger are really universallymounted.

2007 Purchase of 18,000 m² (193,800 sq.ft) of commercial property bordering the current property. Planning for theconstruction of production and warehousing facilities.Number of subsidiaries up to 7 with 20 additionalcompanies below them, in many important economic regions around the globe. On top of this trade connectionsand relations exist in over 50 countries.

2008 Only Börger offers such a diverse range of models: sixranges with 16 sizes allow all customers to make the rightselection. A large portion of the pump programme – up to500 m³/h (2,200 usgpm) – is also available in a stainlesssteel finishing.

2009 In the course of the construction of the new 3,000 m²(32,300 sq.ft) production and warehouse facilities, newpump testing facilities will also be built. With testingpools up to 10 m (33 ft) deep and an optimised pipe system, these testing facilities will be able to to handlepumps with capacities of up to 1,500 m³/h (6,600 usgpm).
