This year’s meeting will take place at a new venue, the South San Francisco Conference Center, with a con- venient location and excellent amenities, including free parking. “Looking Toward the Future,” will feature pres- entations and activities of interest to all—dentists, hygien- ists and specialists, as well as students and retired grads.

Many renowned speakers will be joining us for the first time to provide the latest on contemporary topics of interest. Our annual luncheon and awards ceremony on Saturday will honor the winners of the 2009 Dental Alumni Association Medal of Honor and the Half-Century Class of 1959, among others.

Friday evening’s alumni reception will offer a relaxed setting to mingle with fellow graduates, and some classes reaching anniversary milestones will celebrate with reunions (see inside). The UCSF Dental Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting and conduct elections for open seats on the DAA Executive Council.

peter a. duBoiS Executive Director, California Dental Association

Peter DuBois is Executive Director of CDA, the largest statewide dental association in the country, with nearly 24,000 members representing almost 70 percent of the dentists practicing in the state. The association’s mission is to support its members in their practices and provide service to the public through innovation in education, advocacy and related programs. Mr. DuBois’s keynote address is entitled: “CDA: How Organized Dentistry Protects the Profession and the Public.”

Peter DuBois holds degrees from Amherst College and Harvard Law School. He has served as CDA’s executive director since 2003. His prior experience includes state and national public policy research and advocacy, high technology manufacturing, government service and management of large medical faculty practices. Before joining CDA, Mr. DuBois was Executive Director of the UCSF Medical Group. His volunteer interests have focused on service to vulnerable children.
