such as setting off on a slope, these transmissions provide standstill control, leading to a noticeable easing of the driver’s work and almost eliminating operational errors. Four automatically shifted tractive ranges are operated with unbeatable high efficiency. The ratios are selected such that the speed range from 060 km/h is steplessly covered. ZF stepless transmissions can be integrated into special vehicle systems very easily due to their modular layout and compact design.
“Premium” product line77 kW (100 hp) to 221 kW (300 hp)
Powershift technology
Well proven hundreds of thousands of times, the extreme reliability of ZF powershift transmissions is highly valued in North America, Europe, Russia, and China. From the economical standard version and full powershift automation through to integration into a driveline management system via CAN bus, the T7000 series has a high degree of modularity and extensive options. Due to the new proportional valve control the transfer capability of the clutches is increased and overload protection integrated as standard. Powershifting is independent of temperature and the amount of load is hardly noticeable. All products in the ZF powershift transmission range are adapted for operation at reduced engine speed.
“Basic” product line 44 kW (60 hp) to 136 kW (185 hp)
Synchromesh technology
ZF synchromesh transmissions in the series T500 and T600 can be integrated into the most varied vehicle designs. With their robust design and dependable quality they offer the market all the advantages of wellproven technology, even under extreme operating conditions. Always being improved, the T500 series has been upgraded for added convenience with the power shuttle variant. Perfectly matched gear selection in any operating situation is ensured by eight fully synchromeshed forward gears in the main operating range between 4 and 15 km/h. Switching in allwheel drive during braking as a standard feature on the T500 series ensures reliable braking and operational safety in the workday routine.

ZF rear axles
The ZF modular kit facilitates the combination of all ZF transmission variants with the appropriate rear axle. ZF rear axles are tuned for high efficiency and are intended for use in standard tractors. The special features include preselection of the electrohydraulic PTO speed, brakes with ABS capability, and retrofittable bar axle shafts.
Electronic transmission controls
ZF offers electronic controls for all powershift and stepless transmissions. These TCUs (Transmission Control Units) are mainly implemented as on board control units. Additionally, vehicle controls, which provide optimum matching of the engine and transmission, are available for the stepless transmissions. In particular these VDC controls (Vehicle Driveline Control Unit) reflect ZF’s extraordinary vehicle system capability. Modern development tools and automotive standards ensure high availability in harsh working conditions.
ZF steering axles
With its first solutions marketed in the early 80s, in the field of powered steering axles ZF counts as one of the pioneers of the allwheel drive on the tractor – experience which is paying off even today. ZF tractor steering axles are characterized by high admissible axle loads, high maneuvering capability and precise steering geometry. The latest generation, ZF TERRASTEER, offers the vehicle manufacturer greater flexibility in the choice of the desired functions. The expanded modularity of the axle and the wide range of options facilitate easy adaptation to individual requirements. High steering angles of up to 55° give better tractor maneuverability. The high quality sealing concept of the ZF TERRASTEER predestines it for extreme ambient conditions, such as for example, applications in rice fields.
Additional components

For the hydrostatic traction drive of harvesters ZF offers a combination of transmissions from the 3MD series and the wheel drives of the Sseries which are designed for vehicle weights up to 24 tonnes. These drives are particularly robust and make only modest maintenance demands. Due to the compact design the power train needs only a small amount of valuable installation space. The threegear transmissions of the 3MD series can be obtained with two different wheel drives (S800 or S1050). These are matched to the relevant vehicle weight. The singlestage S800 wheel drive is employed in the lighter
In order to be more economical, conserve more resources, meet more deadlines, but be more relaxed on the road and in the field, users are increasingly calling on the support of telematics services. Openmatics can interchange data with all the relevant vehicle systems and is therefore suitable for online documentation in the field records file and also for fleet management, vehicle diagnosis, and multimedia applications, etc. Openmatics is independent of the manufacturer, i.e. thirdparty suppliers such as vehicle and component manufacturers, or other application developers can offer their telematics
vehicle category. The twostage S1050 wheel drive is preferred for vehicles with a higher GVW. The whole 3MD series also disposes of two disc brakes, which are mounted directly on the transmission. This produces a reliable braking effect with higher operational safety independent of the relevant field of application. From early 2012 the drivelines for harvesting machines will also be manufactured in Europe in addition to the production in Sorocaba (Brazil). In this way the growing demand from the European market will be satisfied and maximum flexibility ensured for vehicle manufacturers.
services in the form of „apps“ for Openmatics. Each „app“ is tested and certified by Openmatics before it is released. The Openmatics system is simple: An onboard unit in the vehicle acquires the data for all the required telematics applications. Outsourced servers handle the data conversion and storage. Data access for the user is via a web portal. The various telematics services are offered in the App Shop by Openmatics as modular software applications so that fleet or vehicle operators can freely choose and combine them to suit their individual requirements.

Driving comfort in commercial vehicles is considerably enhanced by separating the damping and suspension systems for the cabin from those of the chassis. Because different types of vehicles are used for different applications, their cabins differ in size, equipment, and weight. Each different cabin design requires an individual spring/ damper solution.
Torsional dampers from ZF perform the task of decoupling the torsional engine irregularities in optimum fashion and reduce vibrations in the transmission. They possess a high thermal resistance and guarantee great comfort and long service life. Thus, they make a significant contribution to increasing the economy of commercial vehicles. Designing torsional vibration dampers, ZF uses all the experience made in the area of highvolume technologies in order to develop products with special requirements which are of the same quality as high volume products. The torsional vibration damper consists of a friction unit as well as a spring set, which due to coil
Cabin damping Torsional vibration damping
ZF vibration and motion dampers for the driver’s cab provide greater safety, comfort, and stability. Greater comfort levels reduce driver fatigue, increasing performance, and thereby driving safety.
In order to decouple the rotational irregularities in the engine and to reduce vibrations in the transmission, torsional vibration dampers are installed between engine and drivetrain.
springs in windows allows a limited degree of rotation between the crankshaft and the transmission input shaft. By choosing the proper size of the torsional vibration damper as well as the right spring set, the characteristic curve can be adapted to the individual needs of a particular application. Thus the vibration decoupling can be perfectly adjusted to the vehicle and reduce ignitioninduced irregularities in rotational speed. The integration of the torsional vibration damper into the respective installation space is carried out by a simple modification of the outer mounting area and by choosing the correlating splines compatible with the transmission input shaft.
ZF offers a range of products from horizontal dampers (nearly horizontal installation position) to monotube and twintube dampers, steelspring and airspring modules, and CALM® Cabin Air Levelling Module to CDC® variable damping.
Air spring module:The air spring module is used for cabs with high comfort requirements.
Air spring with level control:CALM® is used with all types of air sprung cabs with high comfort requirements and high differences in loading.
Continuous Damping Control:CDC® solves the con- flicting objectives in the cab between comfort and stability using active control of the damping force.
Steel spring module:The steel spring module is used in all types of com-mercial vehicle cabs, but primarily where ruggedness is the main requirement.
Torsional dampers are based on the clutch-disc damper which has proven itself millions of times.
The DynaDamp torsion damper with the well-proven vibration-damping technology from the double-mass flywheel fulfills the highest demands in vibration reduction.
