Joshua Getting a Snack at Home

Current Performance Skills:Using the Community

Joshua is reminded to look for cars before going across the parking lot or crossing the street.

When shopping with his class, he pushes the trolley being careful not to run into anyone or anything.

Joshua buys drinks from a vending machine when given the correct change. He buys a drink every week after church before he goes home.

He finds juice and crisps in any shop they go in, whether familiar or unfamiliar.

He eats in restaurants with someone reading the menu for him to order.

Current Performance Skills: Recreation/Leisure Joshua will join in a game

such as catch or volleyball with other pupils or teachers when asked. He is encouraged to stay in the game when he has to take turns.

During unstructured leisure time in the classroom, Joshua usually chooses to draw, or look at books.

He uses internet games sites when suggested by the teaching assistant.

Current Performance Skills: Academic Joshua writes and states his name and age. He identifies most common indoor and outdoor safety

signs. He identifies a clock but does not respond with the

correct time if asked. He follows routines by being aware of environmental cues such as the bus arrival to signal time to go home. Others around him usually let him know the time if it is not in his routine.

He identifies coins and notes but does not state values or add coins. He typically has someone go with him to make purchases to give him the approximate amount of money for the purchase. He usually gives the cashier the money.

Current Performance Skills:Communication People who are very familiar with Josh

understand his speech. He makes attempts to make his wants known. Joshua communicates through the use of one or

two word phrases, gestures, and acting out scenes from films or events from his life such as fishing.

The listener has to ask questions to find out anything further, however, most of the time, the listener only knows for certain that Joshua is thinking about fishing.

Joshua’s communication is frequently about his family and about his latest favorite film.
