Supporters tour fi rst piece of PATH400
BY ANN MARIE [email protected]
With construction under way for PATH400, a walking trail running roughly along Ga. 400, members of Livable Buckhead and the Path Foundation gave a tour of Phase 1 progress, which stretches from Old Ivy Road to Lenox Road.
While that ½-mile section is expected to be completed late this year, the plan is that the entire 5-mile long trail that will ex-tend from Loridans Drive to the Atlanta BeltLine will serve as the “spine” of the Buckhead Collection, a connected system of trails, parks and neighborhoods.
Phil Pellegrini, project manager for the PATH Foundation, which is overseeing the construction, talked about a possible fu-ture connection during the trail tour.
“We’re working with the Chastain Park Conservancy and the Blue Heron Nature Preserve on actually making it connect from this point all the way to Chastain Park,” he said, which would involve connecting walkways through schools, across Roswell Road, behind Post Chastain apartments and to Lake Forrest Drive.

Buckhead Condo Alliance to represent vertical communities
BY COLLIN KELLEYTh e newly-formed Buckhead Con-
do Alliance (BCA) has fi led incorpora-tion papers with the Georgia Secretary of State’s offi ce, and has been offi cially admitted to the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods (BCN).
Th e alliance currently has members in seven buildings along Peachtree Road on its roster: 2828 Peachtree, Alham-bra, Th e Carlyle, Concorde, Crestwood, Gallery and Peachtree Residences.
During the recent BCN meeting, spokesman Robert Bush, vice-president of the new condo alliance, said the BCA currently represents around 800 owners in the seven buildings.
“We’ve been meeting for a year, and the condos along Peachtree Road have a lot of common issues,” said Bush, who lives at Th e Carlyle.
He said residents were concerned
about noise, development and traffi c along the corridor, and wanted to have a voice in decision-making and planning issues.
However, Bush said the city of Atlan-ta might not recognize the BCA since the member condos are located in two diff erent Neighborhood Planning Units (NPU) and Atlanta City Council dis-tricts.
District 8 City Councilwoman Yolanda Adrean said she believed the BCA was worth exploring since there are more and more “vertical communi-ties” being built.
“Th e Buckhead Condo Alliance is treading new ground here, but I say ‘go for it,’” Adrean said at the BCN meeting.
Bush said the group originally wanted to form as a NPU, but that was denied by the city.
Not just for dogs
From left, Sydney, Grady and Dawson Jones unveil a “dual” drinking fountain, suitable for
both humans and dogs, in conjunction with the grand
opening of the Dan Martin Pool House at Garden Hills Pool. Dr. Duffy Jones and his wife Courtney donated the gift on behalf of the Peachtree Hills
Animal Hospital, as a tribute to the community. The veterinary practice is an annual sponsor
of the traditional end of summer dog swim at the pool.
