PUBLIC DOMAIN BOOKS
The Library of Congress of-
fers access to books that
are now in the public do-
main.
http://read.gov/books/
These books can be read
online in ebook format.
The books are not in a for-
mat for downloading, but
has a nice appearance and
page turns.
For printing books that are
in the public domain I
would recommend Project
Guttenberg.
Keep in mind that newer
editions of the books are
under copyright and can
not be copied, but the origi-
nals are under public do-
main.
Another item to keep in
mind is that both websites
provide access to the origi-
nal stories in exacting de-
tail. This means there may
be language that is original
to the times and may not be
appropriate for today.
Pre-read any of these books
before using them in the
classroom!
SWEET SEARCH
Sweet Search is a great search engine for use with stu-
dents in school and is geared to all grade levels. There is
also SweetSearch4Me that is geared
toward elementary students. http://
www.dulcineamedia.com/ provides
additional resources to digital re-
search.
Don’t forget, You have a Library Media Specialist (LMS)
that can help too. Also the best place to start is with our
online databases located on the Library website. Ask
your LMS for information about these resources. 2
Kahoot is a free resource for creating a game.
Join a game of Kahoot! Kahoot! is a free game
-based learning platform that makes it fun to
learn – any subject, in any language, on any
device, for all.
Teachers go to https://
getkahoot.com/ and set
up a free account, yes
totally free! Teachers
can select from pre-
made games and topics
or create an original
game. This can include
images and videos!!!!!!
Students go to https://
kahoot.it/#/ and enter the pin displayed on the pro-
jector screen. No app is needed students can play
from a desktop computer (not the best way), iPads,
Nooks, or a phone if need be. This is done through a
web browser such as Chrome. You do not have to
create student accounts.
The teacher just needs to start the game on their
computer and enjoy the activity!

Past issues can be
downloaded from the
website from any-
where.
The student iPad
carts will be returned
to the tech barn at
the end of the school
year. This allows the
tech department to
reset the devices. If
you have material on
these devices they
will be deleted at this
time. Please plan
ahead and save your
work.
