Q3 was coloured by festive celebrations, euphoric achievements and fun 20th anniversary

celebratory activities.

We took some time out for our ‘buka puasa’ get-togethers with staff in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Miri and Bintulu – it was indeed great to touch base with our team members around Malaysia. In addition, there was the Balik Kampung exodus, with our staff travelling home for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities, and the celebrations for Merdeka and Malaysia Day.

However, the successful installation of the Mass Rapid Transit Link Bridge at the Phileo Damansara MRT Station, KL took centre stage for this period. Dubbed as the ‘largest lifting operation’, our MRT team worked through a day and night to facilitate this highly complex installation – it was undoubtedly, a memorable ‘One Night Job’ for all! KUDOS TO OUR MRT TEAM!

We also organised our 20th Anniversary Street Basketball Challenge, which saw a total of 60 teams competing for great prizes in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri - it was an exhilarating time not only for the participants, but for the spectators as well!

NAIM SPREADS THE JOY OF RAMADHAN: DONATES TO MOSqUES AND SURAUS (10 July 2015 (Miri); 13 July 2015 (Bintulu); 14 July 2015 (Miri))

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The holy month of Ramadhan saw our staff embarking on the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ (local delicacy of porridge cooked in various spices and other ingredients) to the public.

About 10 staff members participated in the preparation and distribution of the delicacy to residents around its Rock Commercial Centre office, Kuching.

In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, we handed over our annual Ramadhan contributions to various mosques and suraus in Kota Samarahan, Miri, Bintulu and Betong.

The donations were handed over to Masjid Darul Ilmu and Surau Kampung Paoh Penyo in Kota Samarahan, Masjid Ar’ Rayyan and Surau Sinar Islam (Kpg Pulau Melayu) in Miri, Masjid Al Taqwa in Bintulu and Masjid Almujahiden Kpg Melayu Triso, Betong.

NAIM AIDS KUALA BARAM COMMUNITY: FIRE FIGHTING TEAM HELPS PUT OUT BUSHFIRE(3 – 12 July 2015)

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

It was a job well done by our fire-fighting team when they worked together with the authorities to extinguish the bushfires which started at Kuala Baram in Miri. The team, which was formed more than 10 years ago as part of our contribution to the community, deployed a total of 60 volunteers to assist the authorities to fight the fire amidst extreme weather conditions and strong wind.

We came to PIBAKAT’s aid by participating in its annual charity sales held at the Christan Ecumenical Worship Centre, Kuching.

Our staff managed to raise more than RM1,600 during the event. It was a fun and fulfilling day for all!

40 Bintulu staff members participated in the charity sale in aid of PERPIKAT. Held over 2 days at the Bintulu International Kite Festival site (Bintulu Old Airport), it was a busy but fun time for all!

NAIM PLAYS HOST TO THE CHIEF SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT AND DELEGATES OF PERUMAHAN PENJAwAT AwAM 1MALAYSIA (PPA1M) AND 1MALAYSIA PEOPLE’S HOUSING PROGRAMME (PR1MA)(7 July 2015)

Naim played host to YBhg Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, the Chief Secretary to the Government, who is also that Chairman of PR1MA and PPA1M, YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Bin Abdul Ghani, Sarawak State Secretary, YBhg Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Bin Alias, CEO of PR1MA and senior officers of the Ministry of Housing Sarawak, PPA1M and PR1MA, reaffirming the Group’s commitment to assist the Government in addressing the nation’s affordable housing needs.

During the visit, a series of meetings and site visits were also organized.

Naim organized a series of ‘buka puasa’ events for staff in KL, Miri, Bintulu and Kuching in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan. The events were held at the Pullman Hotel (Kuching), Dewan Dato Permaisuri (Miri), Bintulu Paragon’s piazza area (Bintulu), and PJU 5 MRT Station and Semantan MRT Station (KL). The events provide an excellent opportunity to enhance camaraderie among all.

NAIM ORGANISES SENIOR MANAGEMENT CORPORATE RETREAT 2015(11-12 September 2015)

Close to 60 persons comprising Naim’s Board of Directors and staff attended its Senior Management Corporate Retreat 2015. Held at Wisma Naim, the retreat saw intense discussions on future business strategies and sharing sessions among team members. In addition, a vision, mission and core values’ crafting competition was also organized, with RM10,000, RM7,000 and RM3,000 cash prizes for the top 3 winners.

NAIM ORGANISES ‘BERSUNGKEI’ EVENT wITH PETRONAS AND JGC CORPORATION(10 July 2015)

Naim organized a special Iftar or ‘bersungkei’ event with PETRONAS and JGC (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd at its Bintulu Paragon’s sales gallery. A total of 50 persons attended the event, which provided an excellent platform for networking amidst a relaxed environment.

In line with the Group’s effort in promoting greater awareness towards the importance of health, safety and environment aspects in operations, its human resources and HSE departments jointly organized the HSE Month event. Comprising of HSE-related events such as roadshows, talks and mini expos, the events which were held in Kuching, Miri, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis were well-received by staff.

NAIM ORGANISES MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL CELEBRATION(18 September 2015)

Naim organised fun Hari Raya Open house events in its Bintulu Sales Gallery (Bintulu Paragon), Miri Sales Gallery (Permy Mall, Miri) and Kuching Sales Gallery in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

The Bintulu event featured exciting activities such as the ‘Ketupat Weaving’ Challenge, Futsal tournament and ‘Balik Kampung Family Search’ contest, while the Kuching and Miri events saw fun entertainment being organised for adults and children. ‘Duit raya’ were also handed out to children attending the events.

The events also provided members of the public with a great opportunity to find out more about Naim’s property developments in the regions.

Naim Miri office organised the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration event in appreciation of the community’s strong support towards the Group’s Miri developments. Among the event highlights included the ‘Lantern Walk’, ‘Best Dressed’ contest for children and the Mid-Autumn Fun Quiz. There were also attractive prizes and great souvenirs for patrons of the event.

A MOMENTOUS ‘ONE NIGHT JOB’INSTAllATION Of PHIlEO DAMANSArA MrT STATION’S lINk BrIDGE

FEATURES

Naim‘s MRT team recorded another milestone when team members successfully installed the 55.39-metre and 165.2-metric tonne pedestrian link bridge A in Petaling Jaya. Standing 19 metres above ground, the link bridge connects the Phileo Damansara MRT Station to the station’s Entrance A and cuts across Kuala Lumpur’s busy Sprint Highway. The link bridge was the first section of such bridge to be installed, with the second section installed on 12 September 2015. The total length of the link bridge was 78.64 metres long.

Dubbed as ‘the largest lifting operation’, the MRT team worked day and night a few days prior to installation of link bridge A. The bridge, which involved complex steel works was assembled on ground. Upon completion, it was loaded onto a multi-axial loader and shifted to the lifting point before it was finally lifted to its position. It was successfully installed in the early hours of 6 September.

Naim’s Chief Operating Officer for Construction, Sivakumar Ramasamy said that the successful installation was a momentous occasion not only for the MRT team but also for the Group.

‘As this exercise requires a high level of precision, our team members remained vigilant throughout the installation. Our Group Managing Director, Datuk Hasmi Hasnan, was also with us throughout the works and his presence accorded us the moral support we needed for this challenging task.

We are happy to be able to add value to our nation’s public transport system. There is definitely a sense of satisfaction among us – that we were the first East Malaysian contractor given an opportunity for such complex project, and that we triumphed over challenges.

In time to come, we can look back at all these with pride, that these are the products of our efforts, the efforts of an East Malaysian contractor. This is a testament that East Malaysian contractors have what it takes to be at par with the big boys,” Sivakumar said.

In 2012, Naim became the first East Malaysian contractor to be awarded two stations packages under the multi-billion ringgit Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) project: Stations Package S4, which includes Section 16, Pusat Bandar Damansara and Semantan, and Stations Package S2, which includes Taman Industri Sungai Buloh, PJU 5 and Dataran Sunway.

It was an exciting Saturday morning for members of the public as they cheered for their favourite teams during Naim’s 20th Anniversary Street Basketball Challenge. Concurrently held in Miri, Kuching and Bintulu, the Challenge saw 20 teams battled it out in the fast-paced ‘3 on 3’ games in each region.

Organised as part of the Group’s 20th Anniversary celebration and to encourage youths to practise healthy lifestyle, the events were held at Miri’s Permy Mall car park area, Bintulu Paragon Piazza and Kuching Sales Gallery.

Chants of encouragement filled the air as spectators followed the electrifying moments during the games. There were also 3 ‘all ladies’ teams, ‘Tremor’ (Kuching), and ‘Wild Cats’ and ‘Meng Beloh Beloh’ striving to prove their mettle in the games to the delight of the crowd.

The games were closed by YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the Assistant Minister of Sports, Sarawak. In his closing address, YB Datuk Lee congratulated Naim on its 20th Anniversary celebration and commended the Group for its efforts in promoting a healthier lifestyle among members of the communities.
