Welcome to INSIGHTS. We hope INSIGHTS have helped to keep you updated. This issue will highlight on the growing need for awareness on autism. With that, NASOM celebrated the National Autism Awareness 2016 with a bang! This latest issue will feature the happenings during the Arts & Crafts Festival, Persidangan Kebangsaan Autisme Malaysia 2016, Parents & Kids Forum and Autism Aqualympics 2016.

The National Autism Week 2016 was intended to raise the awareness and acceptance among fellow Malaysians. NASOM strongly believes that with this event, we are able to achieve our mission in tell ing the public that Dif ference Is No Barrier.

On a more important note, our Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, 28 April 2016 at 10 am at MAKPEM. We hope that you will stand tall with us as we continue to venture further in our efforts to help individuals with autism reach their full potential.

Untuk meningkatkan kesedaran tentang autisme, NASOM telah menganjurkan Minggu Kesedaran Autisme. Isu pada kali ini akan memaparkan apa yang berlaku ketika Arts & Crafts Festival, Persidangan Kebangsaan Autisme Malaysia 2016, Parents & Kids Program dan Autism Aqualympics 2016.

Minggu Kebangsaan Autisme 2016 bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesedaran dan penerimaan dalam kalangan rakyat Malaysia. NASOM percaya bahawa dengan mengadakan Minggu Kesedaran Autisme 2016, kita mampu untuk mencapai misi kami dalam membawa kesedaran dan penerimaan kepada semua orang.

Apa yang lebih penting untuk diambil maklum, Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan akan diadakan pada Sabtu April 28, 2016 pada 10 pagi di MAKPEM. NASOM berharap anda akan sentiasa menyokong kami untuk meneruskan usaha kami membantu individu autisme untuk mencapai potensi penuh mereka.

Launching ceremony of Arts & Crafts in conjunction w ith The National Autism Week 2016

Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur 1 April 2016The opening ceremony was off iciated by YB Senator Bathmavathi d/o K. Krishnan and supported by The Good Shop, McMillan Woods, Avenue K Shopping Mall, MyInitium, Sunway Putra Mall and Publika. The students from NASOM Titiwangsa & NASOM Teluk Pulai performed a musical 'Aci Aci Buka Pintu' and a Bollywood dance. RM25, 000 was raised from the sale of the craft items . NASOM also invited a gif ted artist from up north, Kirtanraw to join in the celebrations. Kirtan's paintings were exhibited and available for sale. YB Senator Bathma was presented with a painting drawn by our student from NASOM Bandar Puteri.

Persidangan Kebangsaan Autisme 2016 organized byUniversit i Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM)

UTHM, Batu Pahat, Johor Darul Takzim1 - 3 April 2016

Persidangan Kebangsaan Autisme 2016 is a conference dedicated to the parents, students and public who live with autism every day. Most importantly, this conference was created for the growing community of parents, family members and individuals on the autism spectrum who are seeking for answers, quality support and fellowship. NASOM's President, Dato' Megat Ahmad Shahrani spoke at the opening ceremony. One of NASOM Board Member, Puan Feilina Feisol also given the opportunity to discuss and talk about her experience of raising a child with autism.

Parents & Kids Forum UTHM, Batu Pahat, Johor Darul Takzim4 April 2016

Parents and Kids Program was designed to help parents in networking and exchange information with each other. It is also to promote awareness & acceptance among family members and public. This event supported by Avenue K, Puan Reshma Yousof, Mr Hiro Koo Kian Yong and Spectrum of Life (SOL) team. 50 parents and children attended this event and it really helped NASOM to continue to serve people who live with autism in Malaysia.

Autism Aqualympics 2016PADE, Shah Alam, Selangor April 2016

NASOM believes that every child should be given the opportunity to benefit from having fundamental skil ls and enjoy the water in a safe and comfortable environment. Autism Aqualympics 2016 aimed to support autistic kids to show their talent in swimming. About 150 people attended this event with 10 categories were contested in this competit ion.
