News from the Classroom...
October is here! First of all, I would like to thank all parents for your donations for our “tiendita”. The profits we make from your donations will be paying for a new yoga program for our kindergarten students two times a month. We already had our first yoga class on September 12,2018 and our students really enjoyed this experience. Yoga will be helping your children develop body awareness, build concentration, increase confidence and self-image, self-control, awareness of breathing, strengthening and energizing as well as connecting and integrating as a group. The yoga class will be instructed by Miss Paulina Robles a certified yoga teacher two Wednesdays per month. The profits from your donations will also be paying for our first exploration. We will be going the Pump-kin Patch in Marana on October 15, 2018.It is important that you know that attending our exploration is not a given, students have to earn and show good behavior in class. More information will be sent in the permission slip soon. We will also continue on the road for students to become bi-literate. Please con-tinue supporting your child at home by reading everyday and practicing our weekly sight words and reviewing our monthly poster. Thank you for all that you do.

do.
During the first week of October we have our first Galileo benchmark test. Please help support your child by making sure that they are well rested, have eaten a nutritious breakfast and are at school on time. We will be happy to meet with parents about how your child performed and what steps you can take to help them. All students should have a free account for ABCMouse. This program is an excellent way to sup-port your child practice their English, phonics and comprehension skills. We are having a weekly competition to motivate students and to award prizes to the students who are completing the most activities during the week. On October 4th, level 1 students will visit the Desert Museum in Tucson. Students will be completing a scavenger hunt at the museum to learn about adaptation, the different animals that live in the desert and what we can do to continue to protect them.

Congratulations to our scholars, as they have been adjusting very well to their daily routines. This month will bring us many important activities. The new A.R. reading levels that students are expected to meet by Octo-ber 31, 2018 are: 3.3 for third graders, and 4.3 for fourth graders in English and Spanish. Make sure your child reads daily in both languages to improve their chances of passing the book tests and progressing in his/her reading level. Fall break pro-vides a good opportunity to rest, practice math facts, and read, especially if your child is behind grade level. Parent-Teacher conferences will be scheduled for those students who are not at benchmark. If you do not receive an appointment it means your child is doing well. Finally, we would like to thank all our parent volunteers for being active in our school. Your work is very valuable to us!

Dear Parents,
Our first quarter is coming to an end and we have seen an improvement in the academic level of our students. Howev-
er, in some cases, they have not yet been able to build reading habits that are strong enough to reach the Accelerated
Reading goals. These habits are necessary to reach the different benchmarks established by our school. Every two
weeks your child will take home his/her report with the AR information regarding the level and points they have
reached to that date. We appreciate your support at home with homework since it is a support to your child’s learn-
ing. We also want to thank you for all the donations to our level. We are currently saving up to start planning our up-
coming exploration to Earth Keepers. If you have any questions about how you can support your child’s learning,
please don’t hesitate to make an appointment with us.
a nuestro nivel.

October brings the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter. Students
continue to use old and apply new strategies to meet their academic goals. To continue with students’
academic growth, students shall use this time as a perfect opportunity to apply the growth mindset. Fall
break should be a time to reflect on mistakes made and work on new goals that must be met for the next
quarter. Level four can only be great if students, parents, and teachers work together as a team.
