SETTING GOALS - First Steps to Success

Everyone needs a goal to become successful. Do you have a

dream board? If so, have you listed those items that you truly

want to achieve? If not, it’s never too late to start one!

Things to ask yourself...

What is my goal, really? What do I desire to achieve by my

efforts? Is it morally right and fair? Are my short-range goals

consistent with my long-term goals? Can I commit myself

emotionally to complete projects? Can I visualize myself reaching

my goals?

If you answered yes to these questions, be sure to evaluate your

goals on a regular basis. When one goal is achieved, replace it

immediately with another one. Certain emphasis on goals my

change so be sure to review your entire list regularly and adjust it

helps you have more purpose and direction in life. If you know what you want from life then you

you will be more enthusiastic about working hard and staying focused!

Iam going to ask you to do something very weird right now. First

of all, I want you to listen to your thoughts. Now

tell me, what thoughts fill your head? Would you label them as positive or negative? Now let’s say you are walking down the

street with these thoughts. Do you think anyone who would meet you would be able to tell you what’s on your mind? The answer to number one is up to you. But, the answer to number two can be pretty generic. Although people will not be able to tell you exactly what you are thinking, they will more or less have an idea of how you are feeling. Here’s another question. When you enter a party filled with friends, do they all fall silent as if something terrible has happened? Or does everyone perk up as if waiting for something exciting to happen? You know what? The answer to all of these depends on your

frame of mind. Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. The attitude you carry reflects on your appearance too, unless, of course, you are a great actor. And it doesn’t end there. Your attitude can also affect people around you. The type of attitude you carry depends on you. It can be either positive or negative.

One who carries a negative attitude may be actually sending a signal for attention. Before you get me wrong, feeling sad, angry, or gloomy is not wrong, but dwelling on these thoughts for too long is not healthy either.As always, if you are beset by troubles, even in

your darkest hour, focus on the good things in life and you will always have hope. Problems become something you can overcome. You do not have much to lose by adopting a healthy, positive attitude. Studies show that such an attitude

A positive attitude begins with a healthy self-image. If you will love the way you are and are satisfied, confident, and self-assured, you also make others that are around you feel the same. A negative attitude, on the other hand, has, of course, an opposite effect. So, carrying a negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad about yourself, and you make others feel the same way.

If you want a positive attitude, you have to feature healthy thoughts. This is probably very hard to do nowadays since, all around us, the media feeds us nothing but negative thoughts. A study shows that for every 14 things a parent says to his or her

child, only one is positive. This is truly a saddening thought. If you want a healthier outloook on life, you need to think happy thoughts, and you have to hear positive things as well. So, what can you do? Well, for starters, you could see a funny movie, you could play with the children, spend time telling jokes with friends. All of these activities fill you with positive stimuli, which in turn promotes a positive attitude. Although it is impossible to keep ourselves from the negative things around us, you can still carry a positive attitude by focusing on the good things, the positive things in life.

When we look at a certain object, a painting for example - we won’t be able to appreciate what is in it, what is painted and what else

goes with it if the painting is just an inch away from our face. But if we try to take it back a little further, we’ll have a clearer vision of the whole artwork. Until then, something can be staring us right under our nose but we don’t see it. The only time we think of unlocking our self improvement power is when everything gets worse. Take the frog principle for example - Try placing Frog A into a pot of boiling water. What happens? He

twerps! He jumps out! Why? Because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment - the water’s temperature. Then try Frog B, place him in a pot of luke-warm water, then turn on the stove. Wait until the water reaches a certain boiling point. Frog B then thinks, “Ooh...it’s a bit warm in here”. People are like Frog B in general. Today, Anna thinks Carl hates her. Tomorrow, Patrick walks up to her and tells her he hates her. Anna stays the same and doesn’t mind what her friend says. The next day, she learned that Tina and John also hate her. Anna doesn’t realize at once the importance and the need for self improvement until the entire

community hates her. We learn our

lessons when we experience pain. We

finally see the warning signs and signals when

SO MANY AFFILIATE PROGRAMS!

First of all, you need to ask questions before you join an affiliate program.

Do a little research about the choices of the program that you intend to join. Get some answers because they will be the deciding point of what you will be achieving later on.

Will it cost anything to join? Most affiliate programs being

offered today are absolutely free of charge. So why settle for those that charge you before joining?

When do they issue commission checks? Every program is

different. Some issue checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate

programs are setting minimum earned commissions that must be met or exceeded in order for checks to be issued.

What is the hit per sale ratio? This is the average number of

hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This factor is extremely important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.

How are referrals from an affiliate’s site tracked and for how long do they

remain in the system? You need to be confident on the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can get credit for the sale.

The period of time that those people stay in the system is also important. This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. Know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done later on.

What are the kinds of affiliate stats available? Your choice

of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits, and sales are already generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site. A hit is the one clicking on the banner or text links.

Does the affiliate program also pay for the hits and impressions besides

the commission on sales? It is important that impressions and hits are also paid, as this will add to the earnings you get from the sales commission. This is especially important if the program you are in offers low sales to be able to hit ratio.

Which Do I Choose?

Who is the online retailer? Find out whom you are doing business with

to know if it is really a solid company. Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know about the retailer offering you the affiliate program, the easier it will be for you to know if that program is really for you and your site.

Is the affiliate a one tier or two tier program? A single tier program pays you only for the

business that you have generated. A two tier program pays you for

the business, plus it also pays you a commission on the sales generated by any affiliate you sponsor in your program. Some two tier programs are even paying small fees on each new affiliate you sponsor. More like a recruitment fee.

Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid? 5%-20% is the commission paid by

most programs. .01%-.05% is the amount paid for each hit. If you find a program that also pays for impressions, the amount paid is not much at all but as you can see from these stats, you will now

understand why the average sales amount and hit to sale ratio is important.

These are just some of the questions that need to be answered before you enter

into an affiliate program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have before incorporating them into your website. Try to ask your affiliate program choice these questions. These can help you select the right program for your site from among the many available.

Rebate! Rebates seem

to be all the rage in

today’s market place.

Rebates are everywhere. Out

in the brick and mortar world

there are ‘mail-in’ rebates and

instant rebates offered on

every product imaginable from

computers to home appliances

to cars. In cyber space the

rebate is everywhere. Rebates

are offered on all kinds of

programs, software, products

and services. A rebate is simply

a discount in fancy clothes. The

principle is exactly the same.

The customer pays less than

the list price for whatever the

program, software, product or

service might be. The customer

is getting a bargain. That’s true.

The question, however, is what

exactly is the seller getting? The

answer to the question, is pretty

simple.

The seller is getting less

money than he is entitled

to get on every sale he

makes. If the seller is giving

a 50% rebate that means that

he will have to sell twice the

number of programs, software

copies, products or services

to make the same amount of

money he would have made

had he not offered the 50%

rebate. The seller is giving away

his profit especially if the seller

is an affiliate marketer because

any rebate an affiliate marketer

offers his customers comes out

of his commission. For example:

if you are marketing a product

that sells for $197 and you

earn $98.50 from it, offering a

rebate of $50 means that your

commission is only $48.50 per

sale. You aren’t going to be

earning very much per sale.

That can’t be a good thing.

There has to be a better way

than offering big rebates...

And fortunately, there

is. One of the big

problems with offering

big rebates is that the offer

attracts what is known in the

business as “cheap customers”.

Cheap customers are those

who never expect to pay the

full price for anything, ever or

under any circumstances. They

expect to get something for

nothing and that something for

nothing expectation will always

come out of your pocket. You

are simply better off without

cheap customers. The answer

to the rebate question is just

this: give your customers a

good reason to buy from you

at the full price. Even if you

have to pay something for

incentive bonuses, it is better

than offering a rebate to the

customer.

You will attract a better

class of customers who

will continue to buy from

you. Many affiliate marketers

think that offering incentive

bonuses that are valuable

enough to entice people to pay

full price for an item is just too

much trouble. They will tell you,

that it is easier, quicker and just

a lot less trouble to simply offer

a rebate or a discount than it is

to find bonus incentives. Okay.

I agree. Offering a rebate or

a discount is certainly easier,

quicker and a lot less work than

finding bonus incentives that

are of enough value to make

a customer pay full price for a

product or service. However;

it is simply not the best thing

to do.

The customers that will

be attracted by deep

discounts and 50%

rebates are the cheap customers

and once you discount or offer

a rebate they are going to

expect you to do so with every

product or service that you ever

offer them. You are going to be

working for peanuts when you

could be working for the whole

peanut gallery. Don’t waste

your time worrying about lazy

affiliate marketers who offer

deep discounts or big rebates.

They will attract the cheap

customers that you don’t want

anyway and those lazy affiliate

marketers will never be any

competition for you.

If you are willing to go to

the trouble, put in the work,

and make the effort to find

incentive bonuses that make it

possible for you to sell products

at their full price to your

customers, you will leave those

lazy affiliate marketers eating

your dust. Before you even

consider offering a rebate or a

discount on a product or service

think about the reason that you

became an affiliate marketer in

the first place. Did you become

an affiliate marketer so that you

could just barely scratch out a

living or did you plan on making

a very nice annual income that

would provide a very nice life

style for you and your family?

I doubt that scratching out a

living was the top reason that

you chose to become an affiliate

marketer.

Look at it like this: every

time that you accept less

than you could get for a

product, you are giving away

the lifestyle that you have been

working for and you are settling

for less than you deserve not

only for yourself but for your

family as well. It really is never

necessary to settle for less. It

just isn’t necessary to offer a

large rebate or a deep discount

to sell a quality product or

service. People need, want and

will pay for the products and

services that they need. It isn’t

necessary to give away your

profit if you will just work harder

and find incentive bonuses that

will entice your customers to

buy the products and services

that they need from you.

Don’t discount the

product or offer a

rebate. Increase the

value of the product instead.

Remember this: increasing

value is better than cheapening

the product or service that you

are trying to sell. People don’t

always see a discount or a rebate

as value. They sometimes see

it as an attempt to entice them

into buying a product that

wasn’t worth the full price in

the first place. Only the cheap

customers will go for a rebate or

discount. The good customers

will be shopping around to see

what the best incentives being

offered are. If you make your

bonus incentives the very best,

then you will attract the best

customers and you can charge

the full asking price every time

and for every product or service

that you promote.

Everyone, at some point of his or her life, has

dreamed of being somebody special, somebody BIG.

Who hasn’t fantasized about being the one who hits the

game-winning homer? Who hasn’t dreamed of being

the homecoming queen? And, how many times have we

dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with our

relationships? Often, we dream big dreams and great

aspirations and unfortunately, our dreams remain just

that - dreams. And our aspirations easily collect dust in our

attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of

experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization,

we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-

day just barely existing. But you know what? Life could

be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher. The

most common problems to setting goals is the word

impossible. Most people get hung up thinking I can’t

do this. It’s too hard. It’s too impossible. No one can do

this. However, if everyone thought that, there would be

no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in

human accomplishment. Remember that scientists were

baffled when they took a look at the humble bumble bee.

Theoretically, they said it was impossible for the bumble

bee to fly. Unfortunately for the bumble bee, no one has

told it so. So it does fly. On the other hand, some people

suffer from dreaming totally outrageous dreams and not

acting on them. The result? Broken dreams,

and tattered aspirations. If you limit

yourself with self-doubt,

and self-limiting assumptions, you will never be able to

break past what you deem impossible. If you reach too

far out into the sky without working towards your goal,

you will find yourself clinging on to the impossible dream.

Those who dream towards a goal without working hard

end up disappointed and disillusioned.

Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1%

inspiration and 99% perspiration. Nothing

could be truer. For one to accomplish his or

her dreams, there has to be hard work and

discipline. Get out of your comfort zone

and dream on. Don’t get caught up with

the perceived limitations. Think big and

work hard to attain your dreams. As

you step up the ladder of progress,

you will just about find out that

the impossible has just become a

little bit more possible.

>Enjoy life. Work as if you don’t need the money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

>Family and friends are life’s greatest treasures. Don’t loose site of them.

>Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert effort in doing things.

>Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little starts will be your driving force.
