St Stithians College is a prominent and transformative South African school; one that inspires excellence and makes a world of difference. Founded as a Methodist Church School, our Christian spirituality is central to our identity. We are an independent, non- profit institution located on an expansive green campus in Sandton, Johannesburg. Our College offers a synergy model of primary and secondary boys’ and girls’ schools, together with a co-educational junior primary school on one campus. In addition, St Stithians incorporates Kamoka Bush School in the Waterberg Mountains, and the Thandulwazi Maths & Science Academy on our Campus. St Stithians is one of South Africa’s leading independent schools with a proud reputation for its academic, extra mural, leadership and social transformation and inclusion programmes. The College Council invites applications from suitably qualified educationalists with exceptional and inspirational leadership ability for the following position which is available from May 2020. The key purpose of this position is to fulfil the role of Chief Executive Officer of the College and agent of the Council in relation to its decisions. As such, the Rector shall have authority over the College, its seven Schools, Heads and all other staff and organisations or structures involved in or associated in any way with the College. The key requirements for this challenging and exciting position are: • Relevant post graduate tertiary educational qualification supported by solid experience in a senior leadership position within an academic institution • Acknowledged academic standing and the ability to take dynamic and effective leadership decisions • Proven strategic visionary acumen and drive • A solid understanding of the opportunities and challenges of leading and managing a South African school in the 21st century in the context of needed national transformation • Solid knowledge and experience of corporate governance principles • The ability to develop and maintain appropriate partnerships and relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including parents, alumni, the MCSA, students, government and our broader community • Excellent people and communication skills • Strong financial acumen • Ability to role model the attributes of a servant leader • The ability to manage, mentor and lead a diverse senior executive team • In line with the College statement of Spirituality, the Rector is required to be a practising Christian who supports the ethos and teachings of the Methodist Church Interested candidates are invited to submit their CV as well as cover letter detailing why the candidate wishes to be the fourth Rector of St Stithians College to Chairman of Council Mr Carel Nolte email: [email protected].
