QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal Franchise Owner There are certain characteristics that all of our successful franchise owners have in common and we look for in any new franchise partner we work with:

Passionate about Music and Kids We want partners who love what they do. We seek those who have a passion for both music and kids. You don’t need to be a musician, but you’ve got to love rock and roll!

Community Leader Although international in scale, School of Rock is ultimately a community-based business. We seek partners who are leaders in their community, those who are active in their neighborhoods, and those who are able to foster a sense of community within their schools.

Experienced in Retail and Management Although not required, we strongly prefer partners with experience in retail and management. Those with experience planning and implementing local, grassroots marketing and managing in an often-chaotic environment are ideal franchise owners.

Financially Qualified We require that our franchise owners have $300,000USD in net worth with $100,000USD liquid for each school they want to open. If you do not have this but feel you can meet these requirements through partnering with others, we’d love to speak with you.

TESTIMONIALS

In 2008, I made the decision to follow my dreams of incorporating my business background with my passion of working with kids and teaching music. After strongly contemplating starting my own business, I learned of the School of Rock and was not only blown away by the philosophy, values and programs, but also the business model and leadership team. Two years later, I now own and operate four schools in two distinct markets (Dallas and Detroit), and live my dream every day of working with amazing kids, families, and some of the finest musicians in the local music scenes. I’m proud to be part of the School of Rock family and have plans to continue opening more schools over the next few years.

I haven't had a chance to tell you how much we enjoyed and appreciated being a part of School of Rock. What you guys have done for Austin (the kid and the town) is beyond amazing. We feel so blessed to have gotten in on the 'ground floor' so to speak. I know there will be more amazing shows and many, many more talented kids will pass through your doors, but I am so glad we were there for the beginning. Those early days hold some great memories for us and some great life lessons for Austin. Austin made some life-long friends along the way and has a great head start on life thanks to the dedication, hard work, patience and unbelievable amount of energy you and all the teachers have. I am in awe of you all. A mere 'thank you' doesn't seem to quite cover it, but it's all I got without sounding too maudlin. You guys are absolutely the best; keep up the great work and of course . . . KEEP ON ROCKIN'!!

In 2005, after having had a long career as a touring musician, I decided to enter a new phase of my life. I thought this was an awesome fit. This was my chance to give back to the community. I saw this as the best way of teaching rock music and to participate in legitimizing this as an art form. On a more personal note, I wanted to foster an atmosphere for the offbeat kids because we were once those kids. Now 4 ½ years later, I have opened two schools and am happy to be part of something I really believe in.

School of Rock provides opportunities not just for kids to learn the classic material and techniques of rock and roll, but also provides them with fantastic lessons in problem solving, team building, and the rewards of hard work while building their self-esteem and confidence (all while having a blast). The SOR experience creates not only rock stars on stage, but this transfers into other areas of the kids’ lives as well! Awesome program, I have three children at SOR. Best thing we have ever done for our family. Go for a tour, but be prepared to stay!!

My partner and I opened The School of Rock in North Palm Beach, Florida in July of 2009. We went into this hoping to make a difference in kids’ lives through rock and roll and build a business at the same time. In that time, we have played amazing shows on awesome stages and have watched our school grow in the process. People ask me all the time, “Looking back, are you glad you opened the school?” HELL YEAH!

We are VERY grateful for this whole concept of School of Rock and for what you all do with the children and with Maia. I know that you've heard me talk about Maia's situation and how this has helped her - but this is turning out to be way more than I ever expected. You are transforming my child into someone who knows that she "can" - she doesn't hope for the "I can" anymore - she KNOWS she can now. She's learning how to come out of herself and be ok with herself and take risks and close her eyes and just fly. (and I'm sitting here sobbing my fool eyes out) It’s just amazing to see how this music and how your organization - the people you have on board - the way things are done- how it is ALL putting Maia's puzzle pieces together.

We are so grateful. More than you can ever know.

My teen LOVES this place! My 16-year-old son LOVES this school. He knows if his homework isn't done, he can't go play music so he comes home from school and does his homework right away. His teacher at the music school and the music director there play in local bands that my son had heard of before taking lessons there so he feels like he's "in" with professional musicians which makes him feel great about himself. He can't wait to play his first concert. He also loves the fact that the music they're playing is rock music. And I love it, too, because they're playing the classic rock songs I grew up with! It's actually fun to listen to him practice at home now. I'd recommend this to everyone with a kid with an interest in music.
