Jason DeCaires Taylor is an internationallyacclaimed eco-sculptor who createsinspirational underwater sculptures thatpromote the regeneration of marineecosystems whilst using art as a narrative toconvey hope and awareness to the plight of ourplanet.

The underwater installations enhance therejuvenation of the marine ecosystem whilstproviding a platform to demonstrate the positiveimpact mankind can have addressing keyenvironmental threats.

The site-specific, permanent worksact as artificial reefs; attracting corals, increasing marine biomass andaggregating fish species, whilecrucially diverting tourists away fromfragile natural reefs and thusproviding space for their naturalrenewal.

Since 2006 Jason has created andfounded two large scale underwatermuseums.

The concept, centered around a gateway and division, willinclude a variety of installations based on the dialoguebetween past, present and current divisions within society. It will feature at its heart an underwater botanical sculpturegarden referencing local flora and fauna.

The Museum will be constructed using tried and tested, environmentally friendly, pH neutral materials and theformations will be tailored to suit endemic marine life. Theproject will be the first time that large scale architecturalelements have been deployed underwater and occupy anarea of barren sea bed approximately 100m x 100m

The project, drawing on the dialogue between art andnature, is designed to create a large scale artificial reefwhilst questioning the commodification of the World’snatural resources and land masses.
