Introduction
®Thank you for purchasing the HYBRIDFLUSH Model AEF-801 automatic/manual flush valvesystem by Advanced Modern Technologies Corporation (AMTC). The AEF-801 is designed to
® ® ®retrofit AMTC , Sloan and/or Zurn exposed type manual flushometers. The AEF-801 is interchangeable between urinals and water closets (toilet) and provides for a “true mechanical override” option through the use of the flush handle or push button. This patented “hybrid” design gives the user the ability to flush the fixture by infrared sensor activation or mechanically by using the flush handle or push button. The manual flush option will also allow the fixture to continue to function manually even if the battery power is drained or absent.
This manual will guide you through the proper installation and operation procedures to begin usingyour new AEF-801 automatic/manual flush valve system. Please read the installation instructionsthoroughly to assure proper installation and operation of the device.
Before you begin make sure that the following components are included:
2
PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW BEFORE INSTALLING THE BATTERIES INTO THE UNIT!
IMPORTANT NOTE:It is highly recommended that you install the unit and tighten the locking ringbefore installing the batteries. Then check that there is no left over water inthe battery contact area as shown by the arrows in the diagram above. If thereis water present use a towel and wipe off all the water before installing thebatteries to avoid any possible damage to the batteries and the unit.
BATTERY CONTACT AREA
PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING BEFORE INSTALLING THE BATTERIES1. MAKE SURE CONTACT AREA IS COMPLETELY DRY AFTER INSTALLING THE LOCKING RING AND BEFORE INSTALLING THE BATTERIES!2. DRY YOUR HANDS BEFORE HANDLING THE BATTERIES
BATTERIES
WARNING!PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLATION!
1. Read all instructions prior to installing this product.
2. Make sure that water volume of the unit (GPF) matches the water volume (GPF) on fixture.
3. Make sure you have the proper locking ring for your® ® ® fixture. Either for an AMTC /Sloan or Zurn valve body.
4. When installing unit on a poorly draining urinal or toilet bowl it is highly recommended that the angle stop on the flushometer be throttled back to the point where the water drains faster than the water being flushed to prevent overflow.
ATTENTION!Pre-Installation Note

PUSH
The Push Button Complete Assembly (PB-C) includes all thenecessary parts of the push button that replaces the existing capto convert it into a mechanical push button. Normally, the PB-C isused when changing from an existing automatic flush valve thatrequires the handle area to be capped off.
® By using the push button with the HYBRIDFLUSH system the useris able to flush the urinal or toilet manually even when the batteries
® on the HYBRIDFLUSH system are drained. Installation of the pushbutton also solves the “handle kicking problem” usually associated with flushometer handles therefore reducing maintenance from leaky seals and extending the life of the flushometer.

light blinks once before you move away.
Make sure that batteries are properly installed and are making proper contact.
Make sure that sensor range is properly adjusted.
Remove and re-install the unit.
Replace the diaphragm (refer to diaphragm chart on page 10 of this manual).
Make sure you are within sensor range to activate the unit.
Watch red light blink once, then move away from sensor range.

Remove and re-install the unit.
Replace the diaphragm (refer to diaphragm chart on page 10 of this manual).
Valve is not picking up/reading user Sensor range is too short – Change dip switch settings to longer range.
Valve does not read user on high toilet
applications, or small children on urinals
Adjust sensor angle downward to allow sensor to pick up/read users at a lower
level.
Sensor will not activate if sensor angled
downwardMake sure dip switched 1 & 2 are both UP – Shortest sensor range.
Sensor range is too long – Change dip switch settings to shorter range.
Replace batteries if necessary.
Adjust the flush volume. Move dip switch 5 UP (high volume).
Use the control stop to increase the water volume.
Adjust the flush volume. Move dip switch 5 DOWN (low volume).
Replace the diaphragm (refer to diaphragm chart on page 10 of this manual).
Use the control stop to decrease the water volume.
Manual flush is too shortMake sure correct ball relief valve is being used (refer to chart on page 9 of this
manual).
Manual flush is too longMake sure correct ball relief valve is being used (refer to chart on page 9 of this
manual).
Threading on valve body may be damaged.
Check if valve body is AMTC/Sloan or Zurn. Use correct locking ring to match
valve body being used.
Locking ring may be damaged. Replace locking ring.
Electronic flush is too long
Red light does not come on in sensor window
after installation
Solid red light stays on in sensor window
Valve does not flush electronically
Valve flushes sometimes electronically
Locking ring does not fit valve body correctly
Valve does not shut off
Valve sensor is reading opposite wall (this
may cause batteries to drain more quickly)
