THE SENSIBLE CHOICE

VARIHEAT SERIES 3

The Variheat Series 3 is an advanced dehumidificationsystem designed specifically to control Indoor PoolHall Humidity. This unique range of equipmentmaximises energy efficiency to ensure running costsare kept to an absolute minimum. This Variheatsystem provides an ideal solution for domestic andlight-commercial projects incorporating airdistribution ductwork.

Humidity ControlHumidity is controlled by an efficient compressordriven heat pump circuit. Moisture is extracted fromthe warm moist air as it condenses internally and thendrained to waste. During this dehumidificationprocess, energy is also stripped from the warm moistair, substantially upgraded and converted to recoveredheat. This recovered heat is provided free of chargeand distributed into the pool water and/or pool hallair.

Pool Hall Air HeatingThe Variheat Series 3 offers much more than efficienthumidity control. For optimum comfort levels withinthe pool hall, it is sensible to heat the internal air. Formaximum effectiveness, the Variheat can be built withthe inclusion of an air heating facility. This willensure the heat losses via the pool hall building can bedealt with at all times. Two methods of airheating are available; either an electric elementtype or an internal Low Pressure Hot Water(LPHW) heat exchanger circuit. Choosing aVariheat with an air heating facility will savetime, materials and space associated withalternative heating systems. By using theeconomy switch, the Air heating anddehumidification circuits can also be switchedoff to enable only pool water heating (ifrequired).

Pool Water HeatingIn addition to the Air Heating facility, a pool waterheat exchanger can also be built in to the VariheatSeries 3. The high capacity range of heat exchangersfitted to these Variheats ensure the pool water isbrought up to temperature quickly. Simpleconnections are provided for plumbing to a source ofprimary hot water.

VentilationA correct balance of fresh air input and exhausted airfrom the pool hall will help maintain good internal airquality. If independent ventilation equipment is notproposed, the Variheat Series 3 is available with aVentilation module option. This module is built on tothe Variheat, which means that all pool air handlingequipment is housed within the plant room. Smallcircular spigots are provided for ducting both ‘supply’and ‘extract’ air flows to the outside atmosphere.

Pool Hall Air CoolingAn optional air cooling facility is available. Thisutilises external condensing module(s) in conjunctionwith the Variheat equipment. The Variheat can befactory built to incorporate a refrigerant coolingcircuit. Details available upon request.

Ultimate Build FlexibilityVariheat Series 3 units are carefully designed, selectedand built specifically to suit the individualrequirements of each and every project. Whether asimple or complex plant room layout, this equipmentoffers complete flexibility across the whole range.Combining these factors with the vast number of airflow configurations available, the Variheat Series 3clearly offers ultimate flexibility.

Control PanelsA comprehensive control panel is provided with everyunit built. Informative displays indicate the designparameters for the project and diagnostic indicatorsare provided for information. All parameters can be

Page 4: Installation Data - PoolStore variheat 3 brochure.pdf · • Nationwide network of Calorex approved service agents available • Combined support from Certikin International Ltd,

simply adjusted to digitally displayed requirements. For projects using a floating pool cover, the airtemperature set-back facility can be adjusted tocoincide with the cover usage. This ensures energysavings during unoccupied periods. The control panelcan either be mounted on the Variheat or, forawkward plant rooms, mounted in an adjacentremote location. Also, for clients keen to have instantaccess to the controls without venturing into the plantroom, an alternative poolside control panel can beprovided as an optional extra. A remote air sensorfacility is also available as an optional extra.

Automated Package DesignAll Variheat Series 3 units are fully automatic toensure optimum comfort levels and minimal runningcosts at all times. The package design of this uniqueequipment means that extremely compact units can beinstalled, ready assembled, taking up minimal plantroom space. Furthermore, with all sensors andcontrols integral, choosing to fit a Variheat Series 3will save valuable installation time on site.

Pool Hall Air DistributionAn important factor linking pool hall comfort levelswith the Variheat equipment is the air distributionsystem. Correct design and installation of ductworkand grilles will ensure good air movement within thepool hall and minimal condensation levels. The highcapacity fans built into the Variheat equipmentprovide powerful air flows suitable for a vast range ofductwork designs. The ultimate build flexibility of

the Variheat Series 3 units means that almost anyductwork/plant room layout can be catered for. Lowpressure fans are also available as an option. Pleasecontact Certikin’s H&V division for further designadvice.

Primary Hot Water SupplyAll variheats provide a high proportion of heating viatheir heat pump circuit. Models fitted with an LPHWfacility will also require the supply of low pressurehot water. Typically this has been by way of a boilersupplying 80OC primary hot water. However, theVariheat can be assessed in conjunction with lowertemperature hot water associated with modern designconcepts.
