Stainless Steel Repair Clamps

All Stainless Steel Repair Clamps

These Stainless Repair Clamps combine the features you’ve come to like in all stainless clamps with exclusive improvements that make the clamp the strongest and most flexible design in the industry. The design helps to hold the band in place, adding to the strength already provided by MIG (GMAW) welds. On clamps over 12" in length the sidebar is split in order to provide more clamp flexibility when coupling pipe of slightly different O.D.’s or with slight deflections. All this at a cost that is surprisingly reasonable and with a stainless design that ensures that the clamp will last as long as the pipe you are repairing. Other fine features of the clamps are shown above.

NOTE: Stainless Steel Repair Clamps are also available for HDPE (polyethylene) pipe and must be specified be-cause of pipe contraction. See important information on J-2 and J-3.

Specifications:Type 304 (18-8) Stainless Steel Bolts with ½" or 1. 5⁄8" UNC rolled threads, Teflon coated

304 (18-8) Stainless Steel Band2.

304 (18-8) Heavy Gauge Stainless Steel Lifter Bar3.

Gridded Virgin SBR Gasket4.

304 (18-8) Heavy Gauge Stainless Steel Armor per 5. ASTM A 240

304 (18-8) Heavy Gauge Stainless Steel Sidebars TIG 6. welded

304 (18-8) Stainless Steel Heavy Hex Nuts and Plastic 7. Lubricating Washers

NOTE: All welds are fully passivated.

Installation Guide:The successful application of a repair clamp rests heav-

ily on the installer. We suggest the following guidelines be adopted as routine practice.

Check diameter of pipe to make certain you are using •the correct size clamp.Scrape pipe to remove as much dirt and corrosion as •possible so surface is smooth.Make certain the gasket is free of foreign material and •that nothing becomes lodged between the gasket and the pipe. Lubricate the pipe and/or gasket to achieve maximum results.Avoid loose fitting wrenches that are too short to achieve •proper tightening of the nuts.Although threads are fluorocarbon coated to prevent •galling between bolt and nut, keep threads free of foreign material to facilitate tightening.Always recheck torque and pressure test for leaks before •backfilling.Backfill and compact carefully around clamp according •to pipe manufacturer’s instructions.

Repair Clamp Information

for HDPE Pipe

Important InformationProperties Of HDPE Pipe

High density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) has several properties that make it very different from “traditional” water works pipe materials:

Coefficient of thermal expansion• is over 10 times that of DI and steel and 3 times that of PVC. In practical terms, this means HDPE pipe shrinks 10 times as much as DI and 3 times as much as PVC when it gets cold. This can loosen any fittings installed on it. Also, its length shrinks 1 inch per 100 feet of pipe length with a 10° F temperature drop, making it likely to pull out of unrestrained couplings.Yield strength• of HDPE is approximately 1/50 that of DI or steel and 1⁄5 that of PVC.Modulus of elasticity• of HDPE is much lower than other pipe materials, which means it is not as rigid.Creep• is continuous yield of material under stress. HDPE will creep if the stress placed on it gets above a certain level. If great care is not taken when designing fittings for use on HDPE pipe, this stress level can be exceeded and fittings that work great today may fail later as the HDPE creeps.Low coefficient of friction• means HDPE is very “slick.” This makes it easy for fittings to rotate on the pipe or migrate along it.Toe-in• occurs when HDPE is cut. This can affect tap-ping sleeves and saddles, and makes stiffeners difficult to install in pipe ends.

Limitations of Repair Products For Use On HDPE Pipe

HDPE has a lower modulus of elasticity and higher coefficient of thermal expansion than other pipe materials. These properties cause HDPE pipe to expand and contract much more from changes in temperature and/or pressure than other piping materials. Because of these and other properties, great care must be taken in choosing fittings and repair products for use on HDPE pipe. Repair products in this catalog section are designed to function within the following limitations:

Pipe must be manufactured in accordance with AWWA •Standard ANSI/AWWA C906-90 / with respect to size.Operating temperatures are limited to 85° F maximum •and 32° F minimum.Operating pressure is limited to 150 psi or the rating of •the pipe, whichever is less.Pipe systems must be designed to compensate for pipe •movement so as to prevent fittings from migrating or rotating on the pipe.Products are intended for use in underground service •only.Internal pipe stiffeners must be used when coupling •pipe ends.Proper restraint must be used when coupling pipe ends •to prevent pullout from hydraulic forces or temperature changes.

Stainless Steel Tapped Repair Clamps are ideal for repairing all types of pipe damaged by pulled out or broken off service corporations. Costly repairs can be avoided by simply threading a new corporation into the tapped outlet and installing the clamps over the damaged area.

These clamps are made to the same design and construction specifications as the repair clamps featured previously. The tapped outlet is 304 Stainless, permanently “fused” by GTAW welding, and fully passivated.

Stainless Steel Tapped Repair Clamps are made in all sizes and available with tapped outlets ranging in size from ¾" to 3" in both NPT (female iron pipe) and AWWA (CC) Taper thread.

Leak Clamps

Leak ClampsLeak clamps offer a handy and economical way to repair pinholes and other small leaks that do not require a full

gasket seal. A heavy gridded gasket design and “cushion lugs” make them ideal for older pitted pipe that has worn thin over the years.

NOTE: Leak Clamps are not suitable for full circle repairs as the sealing gasket does not cover 360° of the pipe surface. If full pipe coverage is required use a Wrap Clamp. Use compression couplings or bolted couplings for connecting two pipes.

Wrap ClampsThese Wrap Clamps are ideal for leaks on small diameter pipes requiring a full 360° seal. A heavy gridded gasket

design and “cushion lugs” make them ideal for older pitted pipe that has worn thin over the years. The Wrap Clamp of-fers the same leak repair features of the Snap Clamp with the extra assurance of 360° gasket coverage. Specific sizes are available for I.P.S. steel or copper.

Compression Couplings For Steel Pipe

No pipe threading—No working to exact measure-ment—No special tools. Pipe is not weakened by thread cutting. Simply stab on the coupling, center over pipe ends and tighten with a wrench. It's quick, easy, permanent!

Heavy construction and galvanized coating for maxi-mum corrosion resistance. Wedge type gaskets give tight positive seal.

Specifications:Body:• 69000 PSI steel tubingGasket:• NBRNut:• Malleable iron, ASTM A47Finish:• Galvanized

NOTE: Compression Couplings are insulating type couplings. Continuity straps are required for thawing service lines with electricity.

ORDERING INFO: Couplings will have a letter designator after the product number (F, R, RM), for example: 54105 RM.

Bolted flexible couplings employ the time-proven mechanical compression joint principle to provide a stress-relieving flexible joint which eliminates a great amount of precise cutting and fitting in the field. Each coupling has one cylindrical middle ring or sleeve, two follower flanges, two resilient wedge-shaped gaskets and a set of bolts and nuts. Tightening the bolts draws the two follower flanges together, compacting the gaskets into the cavity between the sleeve, flanges and pipe surface thus creating a bubble-tight flexible seal.

NOTE: Longer sleeve length couplings are available by special order.

Ductile Iron Pipe Couplings

Ductile Iron Couplings Style FC1

The FC1 Couplings are ideally suited for mainline pipe usage because the center ring I.D. tolerances are tighter to better control vibration and misalignment problems.

Both the FC1 and FC2A couplings are constructed entirely of ductile iron components for light and easy handling. Modern technology and materials have enabled manufacturers to reduce the number of bolts required with-out compromising pressure ratings up to 300 psi. Coupling components are also interchangeable for better, more cost-effective inventory management. However FC1 components are not interchangeable with FC2A components.

FC1 offers one gasket and end ring that fits all PVC and ductile iron pipe in the most popular sizes: 4", 6" and 8". Gasket ranges are embossed on each gasket for easy identification. End rings are color coded to match the color embossed on each gasket.

Ductile Iron Transition Couplings Style FC2A

Ductile iron transition couplings provide a convenient method of joining two pipes of the same nominal size but with different O.D.'s. Gaskets and end rings are color coded for easy identification. End rings are color coded for various pipe sizes per the following chart. The gasket is identified with the exact O.D. range and end ring color with which it is to be used.

Generally, red signifies use on a steel and steel-size PVC pipe, black for use on iron and Class 150 Asbestos Cement pipe and white for use on Class 200 Asbestos Cement pipe.

Due to the varied O.D. ranges of transition couplings, please contact your local Team EJP sales office for assis-tance in ordering.

Single Band Service Saddles

Style FC101 Single Band Saddles

The FC101 Iron Service Saddle has a wide range and is designed for use on Asbestos-Cement, Cast or Ductile Iron and C900 PVC pipe. It offers a simple yet satisfactory means of tapping water main pipe. The FC101 epoxy coated saddle with stainless steel band may be used for all applications but is recommended especially for use in highly corrosive areas and on PVC pipe. The FC101 Saddle should be pre-sized when used on C900 PVC pipe. Pre-sized saddles will conform to the pipe O.D. without placing undue stress on the C900 PVC pipe.

One side of the saddle has closed lugs to allow pre-assembly of the saddle straps to facilitate installation. The heavy duty gasket maintains a positive seal in excess of the pipe rating.

The convenient marking system quickly and eas-ily identifies the type of thread in the boss. For AWWA tapered thread, the top edge of the boss has a machined groove around the outside edge, while the boss for iron pipe thread is smooth. Specifications:

Body:1. High strength ductile iron per ASTM A536

Bolts:2. 5⁄8" 18-8 stainless steel NC threaded bolts are used on 4" thru 12" saddles. ½" bolts are furnished on saddles 3" or smaller.

Nuts & Washers:3. ½" or 5⁄8" fluorocarbon coated heavy hex nuts and washers made from 18-8 type 304 stainless steel. Welds are fully passivated for corrosion resistance.

Band:4. 18-8 type 304 stainless steel with a 2" minimum width.

Gasket:5. Buna-N rubber per ASTM D2000.

Threads:6. CC per AWWA C800 or standard female iron pipe.

Finish:7. Approximately 12 mils of fusion applied epoxy coating.

Double Strap Service Saddles are recommended for larger taps and for use on larger O.D. pipe. These saddles equalize the pressure on the pipe and can be used on Asbestos Cement, Cast or Ductile Iron and PVC pipe. Stainless steel straps and nylon coated style saddles are recommended for use in highly corrosive areas and the stainless steel bands are particularly recommended for use on PVC pipe.

CAUTION: Saddles for C900 PVC and Steel O.D. sized PVC should be preformed at the factory to the exact pipe size in order to avoid over-stressing the pipe during installation. Please specify the exact O.D. of pipe when ordering saddles for PVC.

Double Band Service Saddles

Style FC202 Wide Band Saddles

Wide Band Service Saddles are recommended for larger taps and for use on larger O.D. pipe. These saddles equalize the pressure on the pipe and can be used on Asbestos Cement, Cast or Ductile Iron and C900 PVC pipe.

The FC202 epoxy coated saddle with stainless steel band may be used for all applications but is recommended especially for use in highly corrosive areas and on C900 PVC pipe. The FC202 Saddle should be pre-sized when used on C900 PVC pipe. Pre-sized saddles will conform to the pipe O.D. without placing undue stress on the PVC pipe.

The open and closed lug design allows pre-assembly of the bands, thus ensuring a safe yet simple installation. The heavy duty gasket assures the saddle will maintain pressure in excess of the pipe rating.

The convenient marking system quickly and easily identifies the type of thread in the boss. For AWWA tapered thread, the top edge of the boss has a machined groove around the outside edge, while the boss for iron pipe thread is smooth.

NOTES: Saddles with IP inlet thread are available by special order. Other O.D. ranges are also available. Please contact your •local Team EJP sales office.NA means not available.•

Caps and Manhole Adapters

Concrete Manhole Adapters (CMA) help eliminate leaks around pipe entering manhole walls, yet are flexible enough to permit lateral pipe movement without destroy-ing seal integrity. It is particularly useful for pipe to which concrete will not adhere, such as plastic pipe.

The CMA is made of elastomeric PVC, is corrosion proof and is unaffected by acid or alkali. because the CMA may be subjected to various conditions beyond the manufac-turer’s control which can affect its ability to seal, discretion must be used in its application and installation.

Due to the various factors that can influence the CMA’s effectiveness as a seal, (high water tables, quality of grout, workmanship and field conditions) Fernco does not warrant this product as a positive water seal.

NOTE: larger sizes available upon request.

Fast, easy installation•Permanent or temporary cap•For underground or above-ground use•low cost and reusable•

Caps offer a quick, easy way to cap pipe ends, cleanouts and open test pipes. Made of flexible PVC, they're suitable for either above ground or underground use on cast iron, steel, copper or plastic piping.

Caps are designed to fit all drain, waste and vent pipe materials in a given nominal size. The convex face allows the cap to withstand greater pressure for testing purposes and minimizes ballooning.

To install, simply place over open end of pipe and tighten to 60 inch lbs. torque.

Flexible Sewer Saddles

Flexible Sewer Saddles

Features:The flexible sewer saddle's elastomeric construction will •allow one saddle to fit pipe diameters of 4" through 12" thus eliminating the need for an inventory of various sizes of rigid PVC saddles. The flexible sewer saddle is available with a 4" or 6" •inlet. The flexible sewer saddle is tightened onto the pipe with •stainless steel series 300 clamps.Steel reinforced edges prevent distortion when torque •is applied to the stainless steel bands.Inlet range from SCh-40 pipe down to SDr-35 pipe •which includes standard weight soil pipe.Available in Tee or wye configurations.•

Installation Instructions:

To insure a tight seal it is recommended that pressure be 1. applied to the skirt of the saddle as illustrated.

Installation Procedures:Make sure bit is perpendicular to mainline. Core the 1. proper size hole. Feel inside hole and clear any remain-ing material.

Insert the rubber sleeve into the cored hole with the gold 2. vertical line on the rubber sleeve facing to the side of the mainline. The upper segment should be on top of the wall or rib and the lower segment (PVC, ribbed & Polyethylene pipe only) should be on the inside of the pipe. Feel inside to be sure lower segment is flat against inside wall.

Apply the Inserta Tee3. ® solution supplied to the inside of the rubber sleeve and to the outside of the PVC hub adapter spigot. wArnInG! using pipe lube may result in hub adapter popping out!

Place the PVC hub adapter 4. into the rubber sleeve. Make sure that the red vertical line on the pvc hub adapter is in line with the gold vertical line on the rubber sleeve. Push hub adapter in as far as possible by hand. Make sure hub adapter is perpendicular to mainline. Forcing hub adapter through at an angle may cause damage to rubber sleeve or hub adapter.

Place a 2 x 4 board onto the top 5. of the PVC hub adapter.

The red horizontal line at the 6. top of the hub adapter is a depth mark. This tells the installer just how far to drive the adapter into the rubber sleeve. Drive the PVC hub adapter into the rub-ber sleeve to where the horizontal red line on the PVC hub adapter meets the top of the rubber sleeve.

Place the stainless 7. band around the top of the rubber sleeve and tighten down.

Install side- 8. service pipe in normal manner.
