Installing the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client
This document explains how to install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, which provides secure
remote access to HKS computing resources. It can be used off HKS campus, or on Harvard
Wireless networks.
Please Note: You cannot install the client over the HKS wired network. You must be on
wireless or off HKS campus.
Installing the Client
1. Navigate to https://vpn.hks.harvard.edu in your web browser. Log in using your HKS
username and password.

2. Click Continue at the authorization message.
3. Click Download to download the client manually.

4. Click Windows 7/Vista/64/XP.
5. Click Run to run the downloaded installer.

6. Select Next once the installer launches.
7. Select the radio button to Accept the End-User License Agreement. Click Next.

8. Click the Install button. If the User Account Control window appears click Yes.
9. Once the install finishes, click Finish.
Running the Client
1. Run the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client from the Start menu.

2. Type vpn.hks.harvard.edu in the text box. Click Connect.
3. Input your HKS credentials and click OK.

4. Click Accept at the security warning.
5. You are now connected to the VPN and should be able to access your HKS resources.
