Installing Your Vortech 7000 Neutralizer

Pre-Installation
1. Review packing list and make sure you have received all of the parts
2. Shut off power to your water heater if you will be turning off water to your house
3. Find a dry, level location for your system4. Get all of your plumbing parts together5. Don’t fret if your water is discolored, rusty, or
filled with sediment at first

Step 1: Locate the blue cap on top of the tank’s distributor tube. You’ll want to leave it in for now. If
there is no cap, wrap the top of the tube with electrical or duct tape.

Step 2: Add your calcite or calcite-blend media.

Step 3: Remove cap or tape from top of distributor tube.

Step 4: If possible, fill tank completely with water to allow neutralizer media to settle.

Step 5: Insert the top distributor basket into the bottom of the Fleck 7000 control valve and rotate clockwise.

Step 6: Lubricate bypass valve o-rings with vegetable oil or silicone grease and connect to control valve by sliding bypass valve firmly into
the body of the Fleck 7000.
Do not use petroleum grease on any part of the Fleck 7000 control valve.

Step 7: Lubricate your threaded pipe connectors the same way, and insert them into the bypass
valve. Then, insert red connector clips.

Step 8: Make sure inlet and outlet valves are in the vertical position, or “bypass” mode.

Do not remove the red clips in order to put the bypass valve in eitherbypass or service mode.

Step 9: Attach your white barbed fitting to flexible drain tubing. Then, wrap the threads of your drain line flow
control elbow with Teflon tape until it’s wrapped around three times.

Step 10: Attach the white barbed fitting to the black drain line flow control elbow like so:

Step 11: Attach the drain line flow control elbow and tubing to the control valve and clip into place.

Step 12: Plug your neutralizer control valve into an outlet. It is already pre-programmed, so you’ll just need to set the time of day and the desired
number of days between backwash and regeneration cycles.

ProgrammingStep 13: Press and hold either the up or down button
until the programming icon replaces the service icon and the display reads “TD.”

ProgrammingStep 14: Set the time of day by pressing up or
down arrows until the display reads the correct time. When finished, press the extra cycle button or wait 5 seconds to resume normal
operation.

Step 15: To set a backwash and regeneration schedule, hold both up and down buttons at the same time for 5
seconds. Set the number of days (represented on-screen by “DO”) between backwashes in the same way you set
the time.

Step 16: Press the extra cycle button once, then set the time of night you want the neutralizer to backwash
(represented on-screen by “RT”) with the up and down arrows. Press the extra cycle button once more, and
you’re done programming!

Step 17: Turn on the water and leave the neutralizer on bypass while checking for leaks. Leave the ball valve after the neutralizer filter closed, but connect a garden hose and open up the hose bib after the filter. Allow the water to run for several minutes from this hose bib.

Step 18: Press and hold the extra cycle button for five seconds to start a manual backwash.

Step 19: Slowly turn the bypass valve to the service position. Do not remove red clips in order to do so. Open the inlet side of the bypass valve first, then the
outlet side.

Step 20: The backwash will continue for 10 minutes, after which the rinse cycle will begin and last for an additional 10 minutes. Once
completed, repeat the backwash and rinse cycles by holding the extra cycle button for 5 seconds.

Step 21: After backwash and rinse cycles are complete, your neutralizer is ready for use. Remember to run both backwash and rinse cycles when adding calcite media in
the future.
