March to October 2016

• According to Best B-Schools Survey 2016 conducted by Business India our Institute

got ‘B++’ rating in the year 2016.

����Institute level activities����

• Annual Prize Distribution

On 12th

March 2016, Annual Prize Distribution Function was organized in the

Institute. Mr. KrabhariBhigareChariman, Ahmednagar Auto Engineering Association

(Cluster), DaulatraoShinde Director IndosklapAhmednagar,were the guest of honors.

Various prizes related to sports event, cultural event, scholarship, Library awards for

best user and essay competition, teaching staff achievements, non-teaching staff

achievements, student council activities, vidyarthiniManch activities, Best students of

all courses were prizes during the program.

• Alumni Meet

Alumni Meet 'Nostalgia 2016' was organized on 12th

March 2016. Alumni Mr. Sanjeev

Kumar, Director and CIO - Apon India Pune was the Chief Guest. More than 255

alumni participated in the meet with enthusiasm and nostalgic memories. Some alumni

also participated in the cultural activities. The Alumni interacted with the present batch

students and shared their experiences. 'Alumni Newsletter' and students' magazine

'Reflections' were released during the meet. 19 Alumni were honoured for their

achievements in their professional career as ‘Star Alumni'.

� A seminar was arranged by IMS VidyarthiniManch under the directives of

MsAnujaKamble a well-known Make-up Artist and a Grooming Expert from

Ahmednagar, on “Grooming in Professional life“ on 9th

March 2016 for all girl

Students and Lady Faculty Members and Staff of IMS. She demonstrated

Dressing – up tips, saree draping, hair styles, make-up etc.

� International Women’s Day

IMS VidyarthiniManch celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing

“Samvad” on 13th March, 2016 at the IMS Campus.Renowned actresses Ms

Swati Chitnis and MsMrunmayeeDeshpande, renowned cine star were the

guests on the occasion. MsMangalaKhadilkar a renowned television show

hostess interviewed both the stars.

� IMS VidyarthiniManch organized a guest lecture for all the girl students and

lady faculty and staff members. The guest speaker was Ms. Anjali

DeokarWalakatti, Judo star and Maharashtra’s first woman wrestler. She

addressed the students on ‘Self Defense’ and motivated the students by

explaining and demonstrating the self-defense moves.

� IMS VidyarthiniManch organized Hemoglobin Estimation Driveon 6th

October 2016 for all the Girl Students and Lady Faculty and Staff

members, under the directives of SavitribaiPhule Pune University’s

VidyarthiniArogyaPrabodhanProgramme. Total 101 hemoglobin samples

were collected and sent for analysis. The members of VidyarthiniManch

coordinated the attendance, seating arrangement & discipline. All the

women students, faculty, staff were present in full attendance and made

the utmost use of this activity.

• Work Shop Organized

IMS-IQAC Cell organized a Workshop on ‘Quality Improvement’ for the teaching

and non-teaching staff members of the institute on Monday 25th April 2016. The

Resource Person (expert) for the occasion was Dr. A. R. Mancharkar (Professor and

Head, MIT-COE-CMSR, Pune). The session proved to be very useful for the

audiences. 30 staff members (including teaching and non-teaching) attended the

session.

• Farewell program of Dr. S.B. Kolte

A program was organized by the Institute to give farewell to Dr. S.B. Kolte, Director

General on 31st August 2016 in the Institute as he retired from his position at IMS.

Dr. N.M. Aston, Chairman, BPHE Society, Mr. Vishal Barnabas, Secretary, BPHE

Society, Dr. R.J. Barnabas, Member, BPHE Society, Mr. Philip Barnabas, Ex-

secretary, BPHE Society, faculty representatives from Ahmednagar College, CSRD-

ISWR, representatives from Local Management Committee, Industry Institute

Committee, family members of Dr. S.B. Kolte, teaching & non-teaching staff of the

Institute were present during the program. The Institute & the B.P.H.E. Society

felicitated Director General Dr. S.B. Kolte by offering him ‘Role of Honour’ for his

immense and valuable contribution in foundation & development of IMS

• Dr. HatimKayumi, Prof. Hari Shankar Rai, Mr. DipakTungar and Mr. Kiran Sable

attended a One day workshop on eligibility and rules to regulate admission process of

various professional technical courses organized by DTE, Regional Office, Nashik on

11th

May 2016. Dr. Shetkar, Engineering College, Aurangabad, was the resource

person for the occasion. Prof. Dr. Shetkar discussed various rules for admission to

diploma, under-graduate & post graduate courses and duties and responsibilities of

Facilitation Centre.

����Management Departmental Activities����

• Achievements

1. Dr Rahul Khandelwal published a book titled “Emerging Markets of Automotive

Lubricants in India: A Critical Study”. The book is published by Lambert

Academic Publishing, Deutschland/Germany on 28/4/2016 with ISBN:

978365987076-7.

2. CA Prof. D. A. Kulkarni was elected as ‘Secretary’ ICAI, Ahmednagar.

3. DrVikram Barnabas was awarded with Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under the

Faculty of Management Science from Dr. BabasahebAmbedkarMarathwada

University. His Ph.D. thesis was titled “A Critical Study CSR Activities of Large

Scale Enterprise in Western Maharashtra” and was completed under the guidance

of Dr. W.K. Sarwade, Research Guide,Professor, Dept. of Commerce, Dr.

BabasahebAmbedkarMarathwadaUniversity, Aurangabad.

4. SachinGolap was awarded with Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under the Faculty

of M.M.S.S. from S.P. Pune University. He has submitted his Ph.D. thesis titled

“SarvaShikshaAbhiyan - Evaluation of Grants & Expenditure's with special

reference to NewasaTaluka” under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. ArvahMadan

,AbGarware College, Pune.

• Orientation Programme

Orientation program for MBA first year was conducted on 16th

August, 2016 in

Conference hall. The program was started at 11:00 am with Dr. M.B. Mehta

Director’s address to students about the courses available, anti-raging policy and

facilities available. Dr. S.B. Kolte director general interacted with students on the

industry requirements and management practices in today’s business world. Dr.

MeeraKulkarni introduced M.B.A. course to the students along with the code of

conduct in campus. All faculty members were introduced to the students. After

refreshment to students Dr. Swati Barnabas librarian along with library staff gave

information about the facilities available at Learning Resource Centre and library

process. Finally Mr. Suresh Khanna gave information about the training and

placement cell activities. There were sixty two students for orientation.

• One day T Group session

One day T group session for MBA II students was organized on 7th

April 2016 by Dr.

MeeraKulkarni.

• Guest lecture

A guest Lecture for social awareness was organized on 5th

August 2016 in

conference hall at 11.00am for MBA-II students.Ms.Joyce Connolly and Mr.Nick

from ‘Snehalay-UK’delivered a session to try and enlist the students for some projects

which are collaboratively identified by SnehalayAhmednagar and IMS.

It was also decided that MBA –II students will participate in the Youth Program on

16th

August-2016 for the first half of the day.

• Alumni resource person to share service marketing experience

Ms. IshpreetKhanauj was invited to share service marketing experience for second

year marketing students on 22nd

March 2016. The people aspect of service marketing

was dealt in detail. Live example from a hotel was taken as a study for the audience.

• Parents meet

Parents Meet for the parents of MBA first year students was organized on 29th

August,

2016 at 5.00 pm in Conference hall. Dr. M.B. Mehta- Director IMS gave a welcome

address to parents and detailed about the importance of English,Placement,Anti-raging

policy and Facilities available. Dr. S.B. Kolte –Director General-IMS interacted with

parents on the industry requirements and management practices in today’s business

world. Dr. MeeraKulkarni- Head Management Program introduced M.B.A. course to

the parents along with the code of conduct in campus, timings, examination patterns,

valueaddition, attendance etc.. All faculty members were briefly introduced to the

parents.Then the parents are grouped in 8-10 with 2-3 faculty members to clarify their

doubts. Also faculties discussed about the evaluation pattern,marking

system,management games,Aagneyum etc.Rrefreshment was served during the

discussion.The program ended up with vote of thanks from the Institute and the parents

as well.

• Management Games -2016

Management Games were held on 26th

& 27th

September 2016. The event was named

as ‘AVENGERS 2016’. The objective behind conducting this event was to develop

students Managerial skills and provide a platform for the students to showcase their

talent. Students participated in various competitions like Sponsorship, Brand wagon,

Ad Mad show, Mock stock, Team building & Best manager. Team ‘Immortal Vision’

won overall Championship & team ‘Unique Captains’ was the Runner up of the event.

Ms. AartiShelot (MBS II) won the Best Manager contest.

• MPD organized

The Institute conducted MDP for 44 employees of Suraj Pressings Pvt Ltd &Nikash

CNC Engineers Pvt Ltd on 27th

April to 3rd

May 2016. MDP in Motivation, Time

management, Stress management, Entrepreneurship, Materials Management, etc was

conducted. Faculty members involved were Prof. RuchaTandulwadkar, Prof.

SayedMudassar& Dr. MeeraKulkarni.

• FDP/ Seminar / workshop attended by faculty members

1. Dr. M.B. Mehta, Director attended one day seminar on ‘Quality Assurance in

Higher Education’ organized by the S.P.PuneUniversity on 5th

October 2016.

2. Prof. Dr. Hatim F. Kayumi attended a National level Faculty Development

Workshop on ‘NBA – Paving A Path Towards Excellence’ organized by Faculty of

Management, Sanjay Ghodawat Group of Institutions, Atigre, Dist. Kolhapur on

Wednesday 13th April 2016. The workshop covered effective guidelines for

implementing and preparations for NBA Teaching-Learning Models, Input-

Process-Output criteria requirement by NBA and preparation of SAR Report for

NBA Accreditation.

3. Prof. Dr. Hatim F. Kayumi attended a One Day Workshop on Third Cycle of Re-

Accreditation organized by Ahmednagar College, Ahmednagar on 20th February

2016.

4. Prof. M.N. Sayed attended three days training program on " Strengthen your wings

- Lean Management Principles” which was organized by AAEA - Cluster

Ahmednagar. The duration of the Training was 30th August to 01st September

2016. The resource person was Mr. AbhijitKulkarni. The topics covered were 5 - S,

Lean, Six Sigma, ISO 9000 etc.

5. Dr. Ms. MeeraKulkarni attended FDP organized by Sinhgad Institute of

Management, Pune on Digital Marketing on 27th

February 2016. Exposure to

writing blogs & social media usage for personal & commercial purposes were

elaborated & practical usage was taught.

• Research papers presented / published by faculty members

1. A research paper entitled ‘A study of Awareness and extend of financial inclusion

of women in Ahmednagar city’ authored by Dr. M.B. Mehta, Director was

published in the International Journal of Applied Financial Management

Perspectives’, a referred Journal. Impact factor (2015) : 6.847. (April – June 2016

issue.)

2. Dr. MeeraKulkarni Presented paper titled “ Case study on the Mahatama : Giant

among the ordinary” on 20 Feb 2016 at International Conference on Building

Resilience for sustainable development at Centre for studies in Rural Development

Institute of Social Work & Research, Ahmednagar.

3. A research paper titled “Luxury Brands & their tryst in India”, authored by Dr.

MeeraKulkarni was published in the Indian Journal of Current trends in

Management Sciences, Vol IX. No 1 April 2016, ISSN 0976-1845, pg 16-23.

4. Dr Rahul Khandelwal Presented Paper titled “A Study of Human Resource

Management in Automotive Lubricant Industry with reference to Training and

Hyderabad on 10-12 March 2016 . Paper was published in conference proceedings.

5. A paper titled “Jugaad-A Study of Instinctive Skill at the Bottom of Pyramid”

7. Dr. SachinGholap along with Prof. RuchaTandulwadkar and Prof. RadhikaMulay

presented a paper titled ‘Evaluation of Time Management Skill practices amongst

organized by Dept. of BBA, New Art Commerence& Science College,

Ahmednagar, held on 26th & 27th Feb. 2016, same paper is published in

8. Prof. Mudassar. N. Sayyed Presented & Published a research paper on the

topic “Assessing Conscious of MBA Students on Environment and Pollution in

Ahmednagar” in conference proceedings of one day International Conference on

‘Global Environment: Issues, Challenges and Solutions’ on 29th February 2016,

organized by BAMU, Katha (UK) & Arts Senior College Aurangabad with ISBN

No. ISBN: 978-93-83587-35-3.

9. Prof. Mudassar. N. Sayyed Published a research paper on the topic “Milk Run

Logistics: A theoretical Review” in Indian Journal of Current Trends in

Management Science, a research journal published by IMSCD&R, Ahmednagar,

for Vol. IX, No. I in April 2016 with ISSN No. ISSN 0976 – 1845.

10. A research paper entitled “Tibb-e-Nabawi (S.A.W.): A Potent Combination of

Food, Herbs and Spirituality for Enhanced Health” was jointly presented by Prof.

Mudassar N. Sayyed and Dr. Hatim F. Kayumi during the 5th International

Conference on Spirituality and Social Work. This conference was organised by

CSRD – ISWR, Ahmednagar from 19th to 21st February 2016. This research paper

was presented under the sub-theme Health, Well Bring and Spirituality.

11. Dr. HatimKayumi’s research paper (case study) entitled “The Kohinoors of

Dahodwalas” A cast study of successful Entrepreneurs” was published in

‘International Journal of Entrepreneurship & Business Environment Perspectives’

– An indexed and Referred Journal. ISSN (P):2279-0918, ISSN (O):2279-0926,

February 2016. Research

paper entitled “Assessing conscious of MBA students on environment and

pollution in Ahmednagar” was published in the conference proceedings bearing

• Faculty invited as resource person

1. Dr. MeeraKulkarni was invited as a key note speaker for State level conference on

soft skills development at New Arts, Commerce & Science College, Ahmednagar,

on 26 February 2016.

2. Dr. MeeraKulkarni was invited as speaker on Personality Development by

Bramhan Business Network, Ahmednagar on 7th

August 2016.

����I.T. Departmental Activities����

• Achievement

1. Prof. U. H. Nagarkar - Head, IT Dept. was awarded with Doctorate of Philosophy

(Ph.D.) for his thesis “A study of Quality Management of Software used in co-

operative sector with special reference to Ahmednagar District.”under the guidance of

Dr. M. B. Mehta - Director, IMS.

2. Prof. Sanjay P. Bhakkad was awarded with Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under the

Faculty of Management from S.P. Pune university. His Ph.D. thesis was titled “A

Study of Managerial Efficiency and Information System in Manufacturing Industries

with special reference to Ahmednagar and Ranjangaon MIDC area” and was

completed under the guidance of Dr. Vasant D. Barve, Head, Dept. of Commerce,

Ahmednagar College, Ahmednagar.

• Aptitude Session

Aptitude Training Session of iTechnika was organized for MCA I, MCAII and

MCAIII students on 2nd

Augest 2016 from 10am to 5pm. Corporate trainer Mrs. P

Satthya ,Pune was the resource person of the workshop. It was very interactive and

knowledgeable session. Dr. Anjali Vaidya, Prof. GauriPatil and Prof. MadhuriGodbole

co-ordinated the session.

• Soft Skill Workshop

Soft Skill Workshop was organized for MCAII and MCA III students on 25d July2016

from 10.30 am to 4.30pm. Corporate trainer Mr. Ajit Pande, Pune was the resource

person of the workshop. It was very interactive and knowledgeabale session. Dr.

Anjali Vaidya and Prof. GauriPatil co-ordinated the session.

• Alumni Interaction Session

Alumni Interaction session was organized for MCA I, MCAII and MCAIII students

on 3rd

September 2016 from 11am to 12.15pm. Prestigious Alumni of 2015 Batch

Mr. JunedShailk, Team Lead Aloha Technologies, Pune and 2016 Pass out Alumni

Ms. KomalDhadge, Team Lead Media Agility, Pune shared many experiences with

current student. How to prepare yourself for Industry, How to work on new

technologies and many more was discussed with current batch students. Students have

shown keen interest in the same. It was very interactive and knowledgeable session.

Dr. Anjali Vaidya co-ordinated the session.

• Guest lecture

The Institute organized a guest lecture on topic “jQuery” for the students of MCA-2nd

year on Sunday, 25th

September 2016 from 10am to 5pm. It is required as the jQuery is

the new topic introduced in their syllabus. Ms. Sonal A. Gundecha, Engineering

Manager of Chrysalis Software Systems Pvt. Ltd., Ahmednagar was the resource

person for the guest lecture.

The topics like introduction to jQuery, traversing DOM, selecting elements with

jQuery, chaining, getters and setters, css styling and dimensions, moving, copying and

removing elements, manipulating attributes, events, jQuery effects – hide, show, fade,

slide, animate, callback, interactions – draggable, droppable, resizable, Widgets –

accordion, datepicker, menu, tabs, and creating and using plugins was covered in the

full day lecture. The topics were covered by using hand-on session followed by 1 hour

practical by students.

• Fest-der-Tech 2016

On the occasion of IT day (20th

August) IT department organized various competitions

which received an overwhelming response.

These competitions were organized for the students of B.C.A, B.Sc(Comp), B.Sc.,

B.B.A, B.A, B.Com from Ahmednagar District. 220 students from 17 different

institutes/colleges throughout the district participated in the event.

These competitions were organized for Under graduate students. Different

competitions in the event for UG program were as follows:

Dr.S.B.Kolte , Director General of IMSCD&R, Ahmednagar was the Chief guest for

the inauguration function. Dr.M.B.Mehta, Director of IMSCD&R, Ahmednagar

welcomed all the guest and also explored the objective behind conducting the festival.

Overall Coordination of Fest-Der-Tech 2016 was done by Prof. SupriyaSapa.

• Wipro Company Discussion session

Renowned IT company Wipro Global Hiring Head, Mr. Rajeev Kumar Singh

conducted a discussion session at Hotel Farhat on 13th

April 2016. 30 participants

(Principal and IT faculty members) of Ahmednagar District have attended the session.

Director Dr. M.B. Mehta described the objective of the session. Mr. Rajeev Kumar

gave presentation about current IT placement scenario of different streams and the

improvement required for Ahmednagar district college students. Participants had

asked many queries related to the topic are answered by Mr. Rajeev Kumar. Dr.

UdayNagarkar, Head, IT department Prof. Sanjay Bhakkad& Prof. MuddasarSayyed

were also present on this occasion.

• Parent Teacher Meet

Parent Teacher Meet of IT Department was organized on 24th

September 2016 with

objective to build rapport between institute and parent. Head of IT Department Dr. U.

H. Nagarkar addressed the audience. All Faculty members first introduced themselves

and shared information about efforts they are taking for grooming the students. All

parents took active participation in the activity. Many issued related to Placement,

Entrepreneur Development, Aptitude Test were freely discussed with parent

members. All parents gave very positive feedback about the same.

• Spring Hibernate Workshop

Spring Hibernate Workshop was organized for MCAII and MCA III students on 8th

July2016 from 10 am to 7pm. Corporate trainer Mr.VimalKumar,Pune was the

resource person of the workshop. He has taught latest technology used in IT Industry.

Lean, Six Sigma, ISO 9000 etc.

2. On 30th

August 2016, Computer Society of India’s Nashik chapter annual meeting

was held. As our institute a member of this profession society, Prof. Hari Shankar

Rai went to Nashik to attend the Annual Meeting hosted by MVPS’s Karmaveer

Adv. BaburaoGanpatraoThakare College of Engineering.

IMS Research Publication including Research Journal and Prayas (Student Research

Publication) for the academic year 2015-16 was released on Saturday 23rd

April 2016.

Dr. N.M. Aston (Chairman, B.P.H.E. Society) was the Chief guest for the occasion.

Ninth volume of IMS Research Journal titled ‘Indian Journal of Current Trends of

Management Sciences’ comprising ten research papers / articles and Eighth volume of

Prayas comprising of nine research papers / articles was released on this occasion by

the hands of esteem guest. Different awards and appreciations related to various

academic and research achievements were conferred to the staff members of IMS.

• Workshop attended

Dr. Hatim F. Kayumi attended a one day workshop for Academic & Research Co-

ordinators (ARCs) of Ahmednagar District (A.R.C Meeting 2016). This workshop

was organized at PemrajSarda College, Ahmednagar on 19th

September 2016. Dr.

RavindraJaybhaye, Dr. S.L. Laware and Dr. Ram Gambhir were the key note speakers

for the occasion. The experts discussed various aspects of B.C.U.D. activities in

promoting Research culture, particularly importance and methodology of Avishkar

Competitions and Innovation Conference.

• Report/proposal of the institute on IMS-SEED-C was shortlisted for presentation by

Association of Indian Management Schools during AIMS We-School Innovation

Awards during AIMS Management Education Convention 2016 organized at Institute

of Management Studies, Ranchi University, Ranchi from 26th to 28th August 2016.

Many proposals were received for the award, but only three proposals were shortlisted

and called for presentation. Dr. HatimKayumi participated, attended and represented

the institute for this presentation during the convention.

• Avishkar 2016 Orientation Seminar

Institute organized an Orientation Seminar on ‘Avishkar 2016’ competition for under-

graduate students from various colleges and institutions situated all over Ahmednagar

district on 30th

September 2016. Two resource persons, Dr. Sundar B. Iyyer

(Ahmednagar College) and Dr. Manish Kumar Varma (PUMBA, S. P. Pune

University) were invited for this event. Both speakers delivered sessions on the

importance of research among student community, emphasized on concept of

Avishkar and the need to participate in Avishkar competition. Dos and Don’ts to be

considered for participating in this competition were explained to prospecting

students. About 360 students from diverse backgrounds including Arts, Commerce,

Science, Management, Humanities, Social Work, etc. participated in this seminar.

This Orientation Seminar was sanctioned by B.C.U.D., S. P. Pune University, Pune.

• Celebration of Librarian’s Day

IMS library celebrated Librarian’s Day on 12th

August 2016 to mark the 125th

Birth

Anniversary of Padmashri Dr. S R Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India.

Dr. M B Mehta, Director IMSCDR garlanded the photo in presence of Librarian Dr.

PrashantPhugnar, Ahmmednagar College and Librarian Mr. GirishShirsath, ISWR-

CSRD Ahmednagar. The programme was conducted in attendance with Library staff

of BPHE Society’s three sister organization viz. Mr. VikasBangar, Mr. Michael

Jadhav, Mr. KiranGite followed by refreshments.

• Library Tour and Orientation for freshers

Library has been conducting Orientation Program for the fresher’s of different

programme admitted every academic year under the Information Literacy Program.

The services are aimed to spread Library’s activities, services and functions along

with the rules and regulations & thus help to better utilization of the library services.

The goal of the practice is –

a. To orient the newly enrolled Library user to the membership, resources, staff,

facilities, services, clearance, donations best practices etc.

b. to raise awareness about the rules and regulations & to optimize usage of the

Library,

c. To provide guidance about barcode circulation, e-resources and databases, book

bank, eLibraryUSA details etc.

The students were scheduled in batches of approximately 40 students.The Librarian

welcomed the students and updated with library profile & different sections

.Thereafter they were oriented by Mr. JitinAdhav about circulation system, stacking

area, OPAC etc. Mr. ShankerRashinker gave information about reading hall

and related area. Mr. ShaikhMulani introduced the Journal and Periodical section and

the usage of different resources on display. On their way out Mr. DattaKawale

distributed informative pamphlet regarding the Journals, login details of e-resources,

steps for search strategy and month wise activity of library along with Cadbury bar to

the students.

The tour cum orientation encouraged students to use the library by motivation & thus

inculcating reading habits and self study.

• Tree plantation drive

Continuing the Govt. of India’s programme of preserving environment and having

eco-friendly activities, the Library and Dept. of IT conducted tree plantation

programme in IMS Campus.The Director, Faculty, Staff and students undertook a

plantation drive. Approximately 100 saplings were planted which includedfruit /

flower bearing trees Ashoka/ASaaoka, , Bor/baaor,, Kanher/ipvaLIknhor,,,Kashid/kaiSad ,,Neem/inaMba,,

,Badam/badama,,,, ,,Bahawa/baahavaa,Amba/ AaMbaa , Kavata, Jamuna etc. Flowering trees like Parijat,

Krishnakamal, Rataranietc were planted.

The goal of the activity was to emphasis on the importance of trees; their valuable to

our existence and to work to curtail the undesired side-effects of global warming.IMS

identified this problem and got associated with this noble cause. The MCA and MBA

Students enthusiastically participated and planted the saplings by registering their

contribution towards the welfare of nature.

• IMS Tree Census

IMS Library initiated census of trees in the campus. Tree census is a critical job which

requires expert in the field of Botany for identification of trees. Dr. BalasahebGaykar,

Head, Dept. of Botany ,Ahmednagar College Ahmednagar guided in listing out

scientific name, family and common name of trees . There are 26 different varieties of

trees in the campus totaling to 58 trees. The small trees / bushes were not included in

the census. The provision has been made for protection, preservation, conservation

and cultivation of trees in IMS campus.

• Author Speaks: Prof. Dr. SudhakarShelar

The program “Author speaks’ was conducted to raise awareness about reading habits, and

to provide platform for author –user interaction for the optimum usage of the library

collection.

The IMS, Learning Resource Centre and Student Library Committee conducted “Author

speaks - i.e. a book talk show for IMS students. The chief guest was educationist,

research guide and renowned author Prof. Dr. Sudhakar Shelar Head, Dept. of

Marathi, Ahmednagar College,Ahmednagar

The programme was conducted to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan,

Father of Library Science in India, under the auspices of the Information Literacy

Programme (User education). Dr. Shelar inaugurated by cutting the ribbon of the

book exhibition at 11:15 am and thereafter lighting the lamp in the SEED-C

Auditorium Hall, IMSCDR Campus. Dr. M.B. Mehta, Director, IMSCDR

Ahmednagar welcomed and felicitated the guest. The Library’s Newsletter Vol.7 (I)

August 2016 was released by the chief guest. The entire IMS Staff and students of

MBA & MCA course were in full attendance.

The Shining Star Books proprietor Mr. SaurabhGaykar and Mr. PravinAgarwal were

invited to organize a book exhibition. The books on display included subject like

Computer Science, Commerce, Information Technology, Law, Arts, General, Defence

, Science, Management, Competitive exam, Marathi fiction etc.,

An exhibit of Prof. Dr.Shelar’s photo, book jackets of his literary contribution were

displayed and decorated by Student library committee member’s .The members

assisted in the stage and sitting arrangements, distributing and collecting feedback,

distribution of refreshments, and maintaining the overall discipline during the session.

• Independence 70: YaadKaroQurbani

As per the directives of MHRD, Govt. of India’s letter dated27 Aug.2016, IMSCDR

Library celebrated “Independence 70: YaadKaroQurbani” from 9th

to 23rd

August

2016.The IMS entrance was decorated to celebrate Azadi 70 .

The display on the notice board included photos of freedom fighters, Quit India Day,

Swadesh and Boycott Movement, Dandi March, Quit India Resolution, Newspaper

clipping of 10th

August 1942,Civil Disobedience Movement, etc.

The fortnight programme was taken up to focus on the theme and learning about the

sacrifices in the freedom struggle.All students were requested to write essay, painting

or drawing on life and history of icons of freedom struggle.

����SEEDC Activities����

• Learning To L+earn Course for Students:

SEEDC has started very innovative course say workshop for school children named as

“Learning to Learn”. Learning to learn is a one day workshop for std 5th to std10th

students. The workshop, experimented on more than 50,000 students from various parts

of the country has been prepared by Consultant Psychologist Group, Banglore. Study

Skills workshop includes –Finding ideal location to study, Concentration and Attention

management, Comprehension, Note making skills,Memory Management , Study retention

skill , recalling skills and Scheduling skills. Dr.Mrs.VeenaAhire conducted the workshop.

• German Language

SEEDC has started a batch of German language. 6 students have taken admission for this

course. Course will be concluded in the month of November 2016.

• District Level Business Plan Competition:

IMS – SEEDC has planned Business plan competition in association with I Create

India, Mumbai. Objective of Business Plan Competition aims to stimulate

Entrepreneurship amongst students. Students can think about different business

opportunities and will be able to prepare business plan on their own.

To prepare the students for the business plan competition SEEDC had organized three

days ‘Business Plan Orientation Workshop’ during 28th

to 30th

September 2016 for all

participants. 79 students from various colleges of the district participated in this

workshop. During this workshop students trained on business plan preparation and

various aspects of a business plan.

Final competition will be held in last week of October 2016.

• Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp:

SEEDC has received a sanction of 10 EAC’s for the academic year 2016-17 from

Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi to conduct three day

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp at the various institute in Ahmednagar. Objective

of the EAC is to make the students aware about entrepreneurship as a career choice and

to make them aware about business opportunities.

We have conducted 2 EAC’s for the students of MBA and MCA course. For remaining

EAC’s proposals have submitted to various colleges of the district.

• Soft Skills programmes for Students in association with LIFE foundation:

SEEDC has signed MoU Service of Agreement with Livelihood Initiatives for

Empowerment (LIFE) foundation for their project LEL (Learn, Earn and Lead). Through

this agreement soft skill training will be provided to final year students. The training will

be provided by IMS faculty, for which LIFE will pay Rs. 1150 per student. Training will

be imparted to a batch of 30 students. Final year students from various colleges will be

trained under this project through SEEDC.

• Current status of goat farming project for villagers :

SEEDC is working for goat farming projects on demand by villagers and people form

remote rural area. One day workshop on goat farming was organized on 20th

September

2016.71 villagers form Beed, Ashti and Nagar taluka participated in this workshop. Dr.

VasantMunde, Head, Goat farming project –Usmanabad guided the participants.

• Exhibition cum sale activity

SEEDC has organized 2 day exhibition cum sale of various products made by members

of SEEDC on 13th

and 14th

October 2016. Through this exhibition SEEDC is providing

marketing platform for women who want to start their own ventures.
