President’s Greeting
Thank you to all who came to our 3rd annual Levee – over 175 people signed the guest book.
This was our second year in partnering with the Board of Directors of the Farm Centre. The
temperature certainly was better than last year – it was only minus10, verses minus 22 in
2014!
February saw our celebration of Founder’s Day. I hope all those attending our WI Day
Sessions and Reception enjoyed themselves. PEIWI launched its latest cookbook at this
event – it is a compilation of all the recipes submitted for our first cooking contest, which was
held in the fall of 2014. We also featured the video – The Women of Confederation, as
produced by JoDee Samuelson in 2014. I hope branches had fun in putting together their
entries for the WI Month Contest. The submission deadline is March 27. All entries will be on display at the
Provincial Convention, where the winners will be announced.
March will see District Area Conventions taking place – I hope they are enjoyed by all and that Mother Nature
cooperates. Please email or mail all annual reports to the Provincial Conveners as soon as they are prepared – you
do not have to wait for your convention to be over.
PEIWI’s only annual fundraiser, ―Spring Is in the Air‖ Gala Dinner, is coming up on April 10. Proceeds are
designated to go to the Hillsborough Hospital. I encourage all members to be a part of this very worthwhile cause –
whether that means buying tickets or donating to the silent or live auctions. Feel free to contact either the WI Office
or Board members for ideas of appropriate items for the auctions.
Our Provincial Convention is coming up – it will be held at Credit Union Place in Summerside on Saturday May 30.
All members, and guests, are welcome to attend. Simply register by the advertised deadlines. This is an election year
– time sure goes by quickly, as it does not seem like almost two years have passed since I took on the role as
President. I am looking forward to seeing you all at the convention.

News from FWIC
The Board Members of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada are busily preparing
for an exciting and productive Convention in Fredericton, New Brunswick, from June 9-13,
2015. Plans are being made for you, the members, at the forefront, so please consider at-
tending all or part of it when it is being held right here in the Maritimes. There is still
plenty of time to meet the Registration deadline of April 30 and it is such a wonderful op-
portunity to share with like-minded women from all across Canada. The tours and work-
shops will give you the chance to explore our neighbouring province and learn new skills in
the company of other WI members and spouses or companions.
The FWIC Board continues to provide leadership and communication between all levels
of our organization. As a legacy organization, we strive to prepare for future generations by inspiring enthusiasm in
our membership and giving a National Voice to women and our endeavours to enhance the lives of women, families,
and communities. Like all organizations, we need funds to meet our operating costs. To this end, we have devised
―Willy the Worm‖ as a fun way for members to gather coins to feed Willy, and we have also chosen a lovely service-
able Messenger Bag as a sales item to fill our coffers. Any contribution you are able to make during this Triennium
would be greatly appreciated! Whether you are able to attend the Convention or not, why not create your own Willy
to send to the Convention? A prize will be given to the Willy that brings in the most coins at Convention.
Also a beautiful quilt hand done by Donna Henderson will be used as a fund raiser and the lucky winner will be an-
nounced at the Convention. That could be you! If you would like to purchase a ticket, just give your name and
money to the WI Office or myself and I will fill out your ballot in New Brunswick. The 2012 quilt came to PEI, so
maybe this one will too!
Best wishes in all your projects at your branch or personal level, and thank you for all you do for FWIC, of which
you are a valuable member. Helping organizations like WI are what keeps our country strong and are what have
brought about many positive changes in the lives of Canadians.

Convener Report
Health Fair
Boy its cold outside - but as the old saying goes just wait for a minute. The grass is green and very little snow down to
help with ground cover for our farming community. This is a big change from last year where we had lots of snow
(some might say too much).
We all should be thinking of the importance of Agriculture on this island and how it affects each of us every day
from the food we eat to how our island is affected in this global world. The Agriculture kits are a good resource for
your programs, also if anyone has a new suggestion for new kits please let me know. To help our island agriculture
community grow and thrive, buy local, grow your own, this means we have fresh vegetables, meat and fish that helps
not only the farmers and fishermen but our whole island.
As a member of the Agriculture Awareness Committee representing W.I., we are again pleased to be supporting
Agriculture Literacy week which takes place the first week in March. This is an opportunity to help educate our
Island children about the agriculture industry as many have never seen a cow being milked or how a vegetable is
grown. We will be looking for presenters to go into these classes (grade three) to read a book and interact with the
children. Please let me know if you or anyone you know would like to help tell our young people about agriculture
on our island.
