We conducted R&D activities for domestic production of crime scene investigation supplies (latent fingerprint development powders, sprays, brushes and lif ting tapes) needed by Turkish National Police, and made the production of its needs for these supplies in 2014 and 2015. We offered technology transfer to domestic companies for fingerprint powders, sprays and fiberglass fingerprint brushes.
Domestic Production of Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Supplies
CSI
We have conducted R&D activities for domestic production of gas munitions demanded by Turkish National Police, and have developed methods. Then, we have successfully commercialized the products by basic licence model.
Domestic Production of Gas Munitions
This project aims to develop know-how for Turkey in production technologies of such chemicals as catalysts, adsorbents and initiators accounting for a great part of the manufacturing costs of closed circuit self rescue breathing apparatuses (escape masks); which operate independently from the gas concentration in the ambient air, which contain oxygen-producing chemicals and which are self sufficient; and to make preliminary feasibility studies for their production in Turkey. The target for the next step of the project is to cooperate with domestic companies for manufacturing these escape masks with national capabilities.

Production of Hydrogen Combustion Catalysts Through RecyclingTÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Chemical Technology has been the first in Turkey to produce palladium catalysts that combust the hydrogen released from submarine batteries, and thereby eliminate the hydrogen-related hazards.
H2 YaKat (H2 Combustion Catalyst)
We produce boron derivatives, CO2 cartridge chemicals, organic and inorganic chemicals at pilot plants. Along with production, we conduct synthesis, purification, optimization, scale-up and process development studies. The requests for studies and test productions at the pilot plants are submitted to the Institute of Chemical Technology via the Industrial Services Unit.
Pilot Plants For Boron and CO2 Cartridge Production
With this project, we aim to realize the production of ultra pure boric acid products for use in TFT-LCD screen panels and nuclear power plants. The project covers experimental studies, pilot-scale test productions, industrial process and plant designs and pre-feasibility studies. The outputs of the project are expected to strengthen the competitive power of Turkey in international boron market and to help Turkey create more value-added on national boron resources.

Ultrapure Boric Acid
We aim to make economic and technical evaluations on plant designs for recycling zinc, manganese, nickel and cadmium from waste batteries, to make process development, and to deliver high value-added products at national and international standards. The already open pilot plant is expected to help minimize the harmful effects of waste batteries on environment, to allow the recycle of high value-added products like zinc, manganese, nickel and cadmium, and to serve for the accumulation of knowledge in the field.
Waste Battery Recycling Technologies
Waste Battery
We have developed water-based road marking paints having longer life, on the other hand, requiring less labor, less raw material and less maintenance. In consideration of a usage around 20,000 tons/year, the switch to water-based system has allowed savings around 8-10 million Turkish Liras in total and reduced the solvent emissions. Republic of Turkey Ministry of Transport General Directorate of Highways has already started the water-based road marking paint applications.

This project is expected to make it possible to briquette Turkey’s lignite coals and/or waste coal dusts (from coal slurry) singly or in combination with different coals or various agricultural wastes (biomasses), to determine the conditions affecting the briquetting and to develop a proper process.
Determination of Appropriate Conditions For Briquetting Turkey’s Lignite Coals, And Development of Briquetting Process And Packaging Material
Total bituminous shale reserve in Turkey comes second after the lignite reserve. In recent years, studies have been mostly focused on solvent extraction, which are expected to make it possible to determine the most appropriate solvent extraction conditions for all bituminous shale sites of Turkey.

Ash-freeing of Coals With Low Calorific Value By Extraction Method and Development of Alternative ProductsInorganic materials in coal constitute a negative factor impacting an efficient use. The project aims to reduce the ash content of Turkey’s brown coals with low calorific value and high ash content (around 10-15%) to a level below 0,5-1% by solvent extraction method with an appropriate solvent, and to develop a process.
Some imported cellulose-based products (like cellulose ester, cellulose ether, etc.) that are not produced in Turkey have an extensive use in various fields. With this project, we have determined their production conditions at laboratory scale, created technical production documents and conducted pre-feasibility studies.

With this project, we aim to produce warm mix asphalt additives for use on roads, to develop mixture compositions of these additives for use in bituminous warm mixes, to make pilot applications of these asphalts, to determine asphalt performances and to create technical production documents.

We have prepared UV-ray hardened formulations with domestic capabilities which used to be imported as finished products, made the needed oligomer/monomer syntheses, created different formulations with various compositions depending on the inputs, and achieved a novel intraocular lens production which resulted in industrial scale production.
With this project, we aim to enhance life quality of patients by eliminating post-operative intervention risks, owing to the composite product groups developed in cooperation with private sector for use in both extraperitoneal and intraperitoneal applications, that are biodegradable, anti-adhesive, anti-bacterial, hemostatic and compatible with tissues, thereby, inhibiting the complications associated with current hernia patches.

Cartilage Regeneration With Three Dimensionally Woven Scaffolds
We have achieved to prevent yield losses during codeine separation-purification processes and developed a novel dionine production process. These developments have allowed 500kg/year dionine production with 99% purity and 10ton/year codeine production with 96% purity.
