Dear Readers,

Greetings and a warm welcome to Jan- June, 2016 issue of our newsletter, “Jigyasa”, which serves as one of the imperative communication channels between IITM and its major stakeholders. Jigyasa presents bird's eye view of all the activities and events organized in the campus during the above six months. In this issue we look to the past and the future as our catalogue of activities started with welcoming the New Year 2016 with new goals and exuberance and it ends with biding adieu to our final year students. The previous semester witnessed various ecstatic moments as our students achieved prominance in diversified fields. We feel proud to announce and congratulate Ms. Sapna Gupta of BCA for winning University Gold Medal and bringing laurels to the Institute. We are looking forward to commence the forthcoming session with more zeal and perseverance.

Knowledge – A fluid mix of experience, value, contextual information and expert insight, provides the framework for evaluating and incorporating new experiences and information. It originates and is applied in the minds of the knowers. In organizations, it often becomes embedded not only in documents or repositories, but also in organizational routines, processes, practices and norms true to this sense. This issue of JIGYASA brings to you an account of the events and activities that took place at the Institution, bringing to me a feeling of fruition of the events and programs envisioned in the earlier semester. Indeed, there is so much to share and feel proud of. The panoramic glimpses of the vibrant and fecund events are entwined into its pages which speak themselves for the thrusts, learning dimensions and developments that took place in the semester gone by. The very objective of education at IITM is to stimulate the thinking process of the students and the other stakeholders so that they can form independent views to take emancipated and virtuous decisions discriminating between right and wrong. We take our teaching profession as a social responsibility, contributing our entire mite to build a new vibrant India. I am very expectant that the Institute – the faculty, staff and students, as a whole, shall constantly strive for more and more excellence in every field they explore in the sundry realms of life.

Jigyasa which embodies cognizance and awareness is coming up with yet another issue. It kindles and rekindles a feeling of exploration and delves deep into the ethos of higher education. Symbolising the intrinsic spirit, the Institution aims to impart and promote value based quality education in emerging areas of professional studies and attempts, in all earnestness, to touch the pinnacles of academic excellence. It is good news for the IITM fraternity that the Institution has progressed in terms of its national accreditation, curriculum enrichment, infrastructure upgradation, software program enhancements, students and faculty exchange programs, guest lectures, interactions with industry and developmental programmes, which are the mainstay for any incremental process. Preceding semester enlists various Management and Information Technology workshops and seminars. This semester brought a proud moment for us when our MCA programme got accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), thereby further strengthening our endeavors towards quality education and academic excellence. We also feel honored in announcing that our Institute has now been recognized under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. It is a feeling of immense pleasure and pride for me to release another issue of JIGYASA. This newsletter, with added dimensions, will enlighten up our readers about various co-curricular and extracurricular events and creative and imaginative expressions of our staff and students. Though we feel proud of our accomplishments; we still have a long way to go. It will be our utmost endeavor to maintain and sustain the trajectory of growth of our Institute.
