17 February 2017 - IPRS Members' Get-Together
It was an eventful evening for the first exclusive Member’s only networking event for
the year which was held at Wanna Cuppa Cafe. It was also a very special occasion
as representatives from six of our Student Chapters came together, for the first time,
to get to know one another and to share about their respective chapters.
The IPRS President, Robert Conceicao, welcomed all the guests. The Student
Chapter’s representative shared about their institutions and their Chapter’s past and
upcoming activities with IPRS. Members enjoyed the evening in between delicious
canapes and great coffee and tea.

19 December 2016 - IPRS Visits Google Singapore
“Let me google it for you.” “Why don’t you Google it?” Google has been integrated into our daily lives and it seems
impossible to hold a conversation regarding the internet without mentioning Google. Having grown from a team of 24 to a
workforce of more than 1000, Google Singapore moved in to their new home that spans over 2 building in Pasir Panjang.
With photos of the Googler’s new home flooding the social media feeds and other news channels, giving us major office
envy, we decided to bring our members to Google (literally) to find out more.

(continued on page 3)
Google extended their welcome to 20 of our members
with this exclusive Members-only visit. Angeline Leow,
Manager, Communications and Public Affairs, Google
Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., hosted our members.
She shared how the office was structured in a way where
Googlers were encouraged for collaboration with each
other and the facilities that were provided for the Googlers
usage to keep a healthy work-life balance, for example, a
360-degree table tennis table right in the entrance, a fit-
ness gym and many more.
Our host, Angeline Leow giving an introduction to the participants.
After the tour, Angeline shared with the guests on how
Google reached out to the public and how they catered
to different groups that came to visit. She then shared on how important internal communications is, showing
examples on successful events when the Googlers enjoyed themselves while organizing the event.
The visit ended with lunch provided by Google at their main cafeteria, where Googlers get their complimentary lunch with a
wide variety of food.

Colin Tung, Account Executive, SE10
The visit was a useful glimpse into the ways that Googlers use the sprawling new
physical space that they now call home in Singapore to spawn the sort of innovative ideas and
products that we have come to associate the company with. It was also
interesting to hear from our host, Angeline, about some of the ways the company
engages and communicates with its various target audiences, whether the government,
YouTubers, advertisers, and more. The famed Google Food Programme provided us with lunch
but the visit has also given me food for thought in terms of the practise of public relations.
Chris Lu, Communications Manager, AdAsia Holding
A big thank you to IPRS for organising the visit to Google’s new APAC headquarters - it was really
eye opening to see the environment ‘Googlers’ work in. It was also enriching to learn more about
the internal and external communication tools used by their communications professionals, and
definitely some tips there that I can use in my processes too.
15 December 2016 – Murdoch – IPRS Student Chapter MOU Signing
Murdoch University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Public Relations Singapore (IPRS)
