GusherPumps,Inc.willreplaceorrepair,withinoneyearofshipmentfromourplant,anypumpinourjudgmentthathasfailedduetodefectsinmaterialsorworkmanship,providedthepumphasbeenproperlyinstalledandmaintainedandhasnotbeensubjecttoabuse.ThesepumpsmustreturntoGusherPumps,Inc.withcompletehistoryofserviceforinspectionandwarrantyconsideration.GusherPumps,Inc.doesnotaccepttheresponsibilityfortransportationtoandfromourplant.Furthermore,wedonotassumeanyresponsibilityforconsequentialdamageorlossofproduction.

• NEVER apply heat to remove impeller. It may explode due to trapped liquid.
• NEVER use heat to disassemble pump. Explosion could occur due to trapped liquid.
• NEVER operate pump without coupling guard correctly installed.
• NEVER operate pump beyond the rated conditions to which the pump was sold.
• NEVER start pump without proper prime (sufficient liquid in pump casing).
• NEVER operate pump below recommended minimum flow or when dry.
• ALWAYS lock out power to the motor before performing pump maintenance.
• NEVER operate pump without safety devices installed.
• NEVER operate pump with discharge valve closed.
• NEVER operate pump with suction valve closed.
• DO NOT change conditions of service without approval of an authorized Gusher representative.

RECEIVINGandINSPECTION
GusherPumps,Inc.hastakengreatcareinpreparingyourpumpforshipment,however,duetocircumstancesbeyondourcontrol,yourshipmentmaybereceiveddamaged.Therefore,westronglyrecommendthatyoutakeafewminutestocheckyourpumpuponreceipt.Checkforcracked,bent,severelymisaligned(minormisalignmentsalmostalwaysoccurduringshipment),orevenmissingparts.Ifanysuchdamagehasoccurred,youmustreportittothedeliveringcarrierandGusherPumps,Inc.immediately.
Wealsorecommendthatyoucheckthemodelnumber,horsepower,currentcharacteristics,g.p.m.,andft.headofpumpreceivedtoensurethatyouhavereceivedthepumpyouorderedforyourspecificoperatingconditions.Ifyoushouldfindsomediscrepancy,reportittoGusheratonce.
NAMEPLATE INFORMATIONOnthecasingofeveryGusherpumpisanameplatethatprovidesinformationaboutthepump’shydrauliccharacteristics.Thisinformationwillbeusedwhenorderingspareorreplacementpartsforyourpump.
Ifyourpumpisnotgoingtobeinstalledwithinsixmonths,severalprecautionsmustbetaken;
1.Preservativetreatmentofbearingsandmachinedsurfacesisrequired.
2.Removepackingonpumpswithpackedstuffingbox,thestuffingboxandshaftsleevemustbeoillubricatedtoalsoprotectagainstmoisture.
3.UnitsequippedwithmechanicalsealsmustalsobeoillubricatedwithanoilcanthroughtheNPTportwhilerotatingtheshaftbyhand.
4.Pumpsuctionanddischargeportsmustbecoveredtopreventforeignmaterialfromgettingintothepumpandcausingdamagewhenpumpisstartedatalaterdate.
5.Pumpmustbestoredinadrylocation.
6.Rotatepumpshaftseveraltimeseveryothermonth.

• OPERATION
Beforestartingthepumpthereservoirshouldbefilledtotheminimumlevelsoastocompletelysubmergethebottompumpimpellerhousingintheliquidwhichassuresprimingofthepump.
Uponinitialstartupwerecommendthatyoucheckandmaintaintheminimumliquidlevelinyourreservoir,itisalsoadvisabletocheckyourpipingforleaksatthistime.Wealsorecommendthatyoucheckandrecordthepumpdischargepressure,linevoltageandamperagebeingdrawnbythemotorandoperatingtemperatureofthebearings.Temperatureshouldbecheckedwithapyrometer,donotcheckbytouch.Temperaturesthatarehottothetouchareoftenwellwithinthemaximumoperatingtemperatureof2250F.

OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
• MAINTENANCE
Normallyafterproperinstallationandundernormaloperatingconditions(8hoursdailydutyincleanliquidwithSGof1)thepumprequiresverylittleattention.
BeforeshipmentallGusherpumpshavebeentestedandgreasedattheplant,thereforelubricationisnotnecessaryforapproximatelysixtoeightmonths.Remember,whenlubricatingballbearingsthattoomuchgreasewillcausebearingstorunhot,sogreasebearingssparinglywhenitisnecessary.WerecommendtheuseofChevronSRI#2grease.
Becauseofthevastrangeofoperatingcon-ditionsitisdifficulttorecommendonesetscheduleforperiodicmaintenance.Themoreseveretheapplicationthemoreattentionthepumpwillrequire.Whenapumpoperatesinahightemperatureapplication(over1500F)itisrecommendedtogreasetheballbearingssparinglyonceamonth(approx.1gram).Inhostileenvironmentswhereabrasivesarepresentthepumpmayneedtobeinspectedforwearquarterly.Thisshouldincludeinspectionoftheimpellers,bushingsandseals.

Ruthman...Another Word for Innovation
It began in 1913, servicing me-chanical components of thesteamboatsontheOhioRiver.Thecompanyfounder,AloisRuthman,wasamanofvisionandsawpartof the futureof thecompanywasinthedevelopmentofareliablein-dustrialpump.
In1924,withtheconceptionofthefirstverticalballbearingseal-lesscentrifugalpump,RuthmanPumpandEngineeringfurtheredthedesignonaunitwithaonepiecemotordrivenshaft.Thepumpwascalled“Gusher”,givingbirthtothetradenameGush-erPumps,andthecoiningoftheterm“coolantpump”.
