Instructions for How to Access Free CLEP & DSST Test Preparation
All Eastern students have access to free test preparation material such as the CLEP & DSST, LSAT, GRE, etc.,
through the university’s membership with HETS (Hispanic Educational Technology Services). To access this
material, you need to take the following steps:
1. Go to the HETS website at www.hets.org and click on the Virtual Plaza link and then the Student
Placita link.
2. Under the Student Placita link, select the Testing and Education Reference Center (TERC)link.
3. Select Eastern Connecticut State University.
3. Enter Eastern’s access code ecsu2017 (the code is case sensitive, so make sure it’s all lowercase)
4. You will now be in the GALE CENGAGE Learning Platform that contains all the educational testing
material. Select Testing and Education Reference Center link. On this page menu you will find links to
College Prep Tools, Career Tools, Grad School Tools, and International Tools.
5. Under the question “What type of student are you?” you should click on “College” then click Start.
6. For the question, “I want to…,” you should click on Take a DSST or CLEP test, then click Next.
7. Please click on either DSST or CLEP, depending on the test you are interested in taking.
8. You will be presented with a menu of all available practice tests in that category. First, click the test
that you are interested in practicing.
9. You will be instructed to create your own login name/password in order to access the material that is
on the GALE CENGAGE Learning Platform.
10. You are now set to begin your practice exam. You may choose to print out the exam and practice it
that way, or take the electronic test version (if available). The electronic version can be selected to
be a “timed” one if you are interested in getting practice to replicate an actual timed exam. After
you’ve taken the practice text, you can access your score and will be given the correct answers to the
questions you have answered incorrectly. Happy practicing!
