It was a sunny, sluggish, super Saturday when Jim and his sister Kathy decided to go to the beach with their parents. They packed their swimming gear and some picnic food and took a short drive to the beach to enjoy a day of fun!

IdiomsIdiomsIdioms don’t have literal meanings. They are words or phrases that are natural to a language, person or group of people.Example: Break a leg! – which means: Good Luck!

Group Activity: Sing a Song!• Form groups of 3’s• Think of songs that have figurative language in them (e.g. firework “Baby

you’re a Firework!) and write them down.• Each group takes turn singing out lyrics from songs (You have to say what

figurative language was used at the end for example, sing: Baby you’re a firework and say “metaphor” after.)
