• Support instructors through effective registration, logistics management, course development, marketing and feedback

• Provide excellent customer service to our students, instructors, clients and institution

Your Role

• To attend the Instructor Meeting held quarterly; New Instructors are required to attend the New Instructor Orientation. Attendance is mandatory prior to teaching for the first time with Clayton State University Center for Continuing Education.

• To teach the courses assigned;• To provide the program manager with any

suggestions for improvements to the course for approval;

• To provide students with a syllabus and detailed lesson plan the first day of class;

Your Role

• To be present for all scheduled class times or make up any missed class without additional compensation;

• To contact our office as soon as possible if emergencies arise that prevents you from teaching a scheduled class;

• To exercise appropriate restraint and be respectful of the opinions of others. An instructor may speak out as a private citizen, but in doing so, you should not infer that you are speaking as a representative of Clayton State University.

Your Role

• To provide the Operations Coordinator with handouts at least two weeks prior to the start of each course

• To return your signed contract at least two weeks before the start of your course

• To arrive at all class sessions at least thirty minutes early

• To attend the Graduation Ceremony if appropriate

Instructor’s Code of Conduct

• Instructors are prohibited from distributing business cards, selling products or providing business information to any student.

• Instructors are not allowed to attach business cards or business information to workshop materials.

• Instructors will refrain from any solicitations of courses not conducted at Clayton State University Center for Continuing Education.

• Instructors will refrain from offering consulting to course participants (in or out of class).

Instructor’s Code of Conduct

• Instructors will not meet with course participants in or outside the classroom for the purpose of making sales or offering counseling.

• Instructors will submit course handouts for review before course begins and utilize the CSU logo when possible.

• Instructors violating this policy will be immediately terminated.

Student Manager Access

• Instructors have access via the Internet to the Center for Continuing Education’s database of students and courses called Student Manager

• If you don’t know your ID and password, ask your Program Manager

• You can see – What courses are assigned to you – Locations– How many students in each course– Student contact information

• You can also print rosters and attendance sheets

Classroom Management

• Plan to arrive thirty minutes prior to your class start time

• Take student attendance at every class session

• Deliver a full class presentation for each class session

First Class Session

• Rosters, handouts and textbooks (if requested and included in course fee) will be put in your classroom by your Site Coordinator. If you are missing anything, please contact your Site Coordinator.

• A/V equipment requested in advance will be located in your classroom

First Class Session

• Please have your students check the spelling of their names and their contact information and make changes and initial the Student Information Form. Return the form to the Site Coordinator on the first night of class.

• Have students complete the Marketing Survey and return them to the Site Coordinator.

First Class Session

• Ensure that every student in the classroom is on the roster. No student is to remain in your course beyond the first session without proof of registration. If a student’s name does not appear on your Attendance Roster please have them contact the office at 678-466-5050 to complete or verify their registration.

• Complete the Attendance Discrepany Form and return it to the Site Coordinator.

Last Class Session

• Students are required to attend 80% of the class sessions in order to receive a Certificate of Completion

• Fill out, sign and return the Attendance Roster to the Site Coordinator

Last Class Session

• Student evaluations will be conducted by the Site Coordinator on your last class session

• Please return any Certificates not given out to the Site Coordinator and indicate which ones should be mailed and which should be destroyed.

• For Certificate Programs, special Certificates will be awarded at the Graduation Ceremony.

Syllabus and Lesson Plans

• An approved syllabus and lesson plan is required for all courses

• The lesson plan must include – Sequence of instruction– Learning outcomes– Planned instructional strategies– A clear means for you to measure student

learning

Syllabus and Lesson Plans

• For existing courses, any changes must be discussed and approved by your Program Manager and the IACET Administrator

• For new courses, the syllabus and lesson plan will be approved as part of the Course Development process.

Textbooks

• If you would like for your students to use a specific book for your course, submit the following to your Program Manager at least six weeks prior to the start of your course:– Book title– Author’s name– Edition– Publisher– ISBN

• For existing courses, discuss with your Program Manager

• For new courses, include the request on the Course Planning Document

• Textbooks can be purchased from amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, or our campus bookstore.

Copies / Handouts

• If copies are required for your course, please submit a high quality master to your Program Manager at least two weeks in advance for approval and copying.

• Electronic versions are preferred.• Do NOT bring materials to be copied the day

that your course begins. You may not be accommodated. Repeated abuse of last minute copying may result in non-renewal of your contract.

Instructor Absences

• If you are unable to attend a class session for any reason, notify your Program Manager immediately.

• Instructors are not allowed to hire substitutes.• If you are planning on using someone as a co-

instructor, they will need to sign a contract with Clayton State University Center for Continuing Education and be approved by your Program Manager.

Instructor Course Evaluation

• Instructors will be given an Instructor Course Evaluation for each course taught

• It must be returned within one week of course completion.

• If something is happening during the course that you feel needs to be reported, please contact your Program Manager.

Liability Waivers

• If there is any possibility of someone being injured during your course or you take the students off campus for any reason, they must fill out a Liability Waiver.

• They must all be turned in the first class session

• Return originals to the Site Coordinator who will make copies for you.

CE Tuition Benefits

• You may take two approved CE courses per calendar year.

• Fill out the Staff Development Form from the CE website.

• Offered on a space available basis.

• You are responsible for textbooks and supplies
