Instructor – Welding Location: Happy ValleyGoose Bay Campus Job Opening ID: 6662 FullTime, Permanent Commencing: August 27, 2015 Deadline to Apply: May 12, 2015 PUBLIC POSTING Job Information Instructor DUTIES: The primary assignment of the successful candidate will be to instruct learners, facilitate learning and evaluate learner progress in the Welding program. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources in classroom and shop settings and you will provide academic advice to learners while performing other duties consistent with maintaining quality learnercentered instruction. A key component of your role will be to prepare learner performance reports and prior learning assessments as required by the Department of Advanced Education and Skills. Naturally, you'll demonstrate your commitment to maintaining quality, studentcentered instruction. Specific areas of instruction include grinding and finishing, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, Carbon Arc Cutting, Plasma Arc Cutting, quality control. You will also perform other related duties associated with this exciting career opportunity. You will be expected to practice and teach industrialbased safety standards and to ensure that students are fully aware of the safety challenges and standards prevalent in the Welding profession and in the workplace. As the Instructor, you will also be required to develop curriculum and training materials in accordance with the plan of training and leading industry standards. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the welding trade. Knowledge of current teaching/learning methods is preferred. Effective communication, analytical and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both individually and as a team member is required. Candidates must have strong commitments to a learnercentered approach to teaching and to learner success strategies. The required knowledge and skills would normally have been acquired through the completion of an Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification in Welding combined with recent relevant trade specific industry experience. CWB Certifications, a Bachelor of Education (PostSecondary or Secondary) Degree and experience teaching at the postsecondary level are considered definite assets. SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
