We deeply mourn the sudden demise of J.Sukumaran , Tech-1/Carp/Shop-30
At present, pensioners can lodge their grievance on the centralized pension grievance redress and monitoring system (CPENGRAMS) of department of pension and pensioners’ welfare. Pensioners can also send their grievance either through post or by email to this department. However, a need has been felt to cater the requirement of a certain category of pensioners / family pensioners especially those who are very old and not so techno-savvy and cannot lodge their grievance in CPENGRAMS. Hence a new cell with toll free number 1800-11-1960 has been started. the pensioners can now lodge their grievance by calling on this toll free number during office hours.
We wish them A Happy & Peaceful Retired Life

RISHIKESH–KARNAPRAYAG RAILWAY
RBE 107/2019: Amendment to Chapter 15 of the Indian Railway
Establishment Code Volume-II, Sixth Edition 1987
(Second Reprint Edition 2005).
RAILWAYS INSIGHT
The Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Railway runs from Rishikesh railway station
to Karnaprayag. It is Indian Railways' proposed route for the Char Dham
Railway to connect to the Chota Char Dham. It is one of the initiatives of
Government to counter China's expansion. This 125 km route starts at
New Rishikesh railway station at 380m AMSL and ends at Karnaprayag
825m AMSL. Rs.16,200 crore 125 km project, will reduce Rishikesh to
Karnaprayag travel time from 7 hours to 2 hours. It will have 16 bridges and
105 km or 85% of the project inside tunnels. A 15.1 km tunnel, reported to
be the country's longest, will be built between Devprayag and Lachmoli on
the route.
South Central Railway (SCR) has added another feather to its cap by
commissioning the longest electrified tunnel in Indian Railways. The
electrified tunnel measuring 6.6 kilometres is situated between Cherlopalli
and Rapuru stations and is part of the 113-km new railway line completed
recently between Obulavaripalli– Venkatachalam – Krishnapatnam Port.
Two freight trains have been run successfully on the electrified railway line
a few days ago, thereby opening up viable rail connectivity between
Krishnapatnam Port and its hinterland for goods train services. This tunnel
has been ompleted in a record time of 43 months. The tunnel, an
engineering marvel, is a pride for SCR zone. The new railway line is helpful
for decongesting traffic on the Vijayawada-Gudur main line and it would
reduce the distance between Krishnapatnam Port and the hinterland
areas by 60 km.
At present, the average travel time taken by goods train from
Krishnapatnam Port to Obulavaripali is 10 hours. With the commissioning
of the new line, the travel time would be reduced to five hours. The
electrified tunnel is constructed in the shape of ‘Horse Shoe’ on New
Australian Tunnelling Method, at a cost of ₹460 crore. The height of the
tunnel (rail level to roof) is 6.5 metres and the minimum height of the
contact wire is maintained at 5.2 metres. The new line would facilitate
direct and viable connectivity between South Coast and West Coast
Railway and improve freight revenue of the zone.
Changing the timings and routes of several trains with effect from
01.07.19, the Indian Railways has announced a new timetable.

As per details shared on the Economic Survey 2018-19, the type of
accidents caused by collisions decreased from 3 in 2017-18 to 0 in 2018-
19. The type of accidents caused by derailments reduced from 54 in 2017-
18 to 46 in 2018-19. The number of accidents caused by Manned Level
Crossings in 2017-18 was 3 and in 2018-19, it was 3. The number of
accidents caused by Unmanned Level Crossings decreased from 10 in
2017-18 to 3 in 2018-19. The number of fire accidents recorded in 2017-18
was 3, while the number was 6 in 2018-19, seeing an increase. One
miscellaneous accident was recorded in 2018-19. In total, the number of
railway accidents reduced from 73 in 2017-18 to 59 in 2018-19
For unreserved and suburban train commuters entering Puratchi
Thalaivar Dr MGR Central Station from the eastern side on Wall Tax Road,
a booking office with six counters has been opened.
As the Unmanned Level Crossings present on railways' network were not
protected, there have been several deaths in the past due to collision of
trains and vehicles. Thus, the entire process of elimination of Unmanned
Level Crossings from the entire railways' network was carried out in just a
few days time and that too without obstructing the movement of the trains.
In addition to the complete elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings
across the country, the national transporter has also constructed several
foot-over-bridges (FOBs) and subways for the public to cross the railway
tracks easily.
The Economic Survey 2018-19 released ahead of Railway Budget 2019
and Union Budget 2019 stated that Indian Railways has witnessed
commendable progress! In a bid to enhance the safety of passengers,
Piyush Goyal-led Indian Railways has taken several measures. In the
financial year 2018-19, the incident of train collisions has come down to
zero, the Economic Survey 2019 noted. Not only have the cases of train
collisions reduced, but also the total number of incidents of derailments
has also reduced significantly. Moreover, the Railway Ministry also made a
big achievement earlier this year on 31 January 2019, by eliminating all the
unmanned level crossings from the railways' network in a mission mode.
As part of its 100-day roadmap, the Railway Ministry under the Narendra
Modi government is drawing up an ambitious plan to eliminate all manned
level crossings as well. Railway Budget 2019 is also expected to focus on
safety along with passenger amenities and experience
