The ICL is a fully integrated compressionsystem, incorporating a high speed electricmotor drive and a centrifugal compressor in a single sealed casing. The product line covers applications acrossthe entire Oil and Gas industry and is
available in a power range of up to 15 MW.The lack of a combustion engine, the use ofoil-free active magnetic bearings and thecompletely sealed case means zeroemissions and exceptional reliability andavailability.
The ICL is the result of over 20 years ofdevelopment and 100 years of experience andknow-how in the Oil and Gas industry.

Thanks to the ABM that eliminateparts contact and wear, as well asthe absence of lube oil systems anddry end seals, the ICL maintenancerequirements are significantlyreduced. As a result, the ICL boastshigher reliability and a lifetimemaintenance cost 40% lower thanthat of a conventional compressorand drive.
Zero Emissions Machine can be kept pressurized:

The ICL is a clean approach tocompression. There is no sealleakage from the completely closedcase and depressurization is notrequired on shutdown. In addition,the AMBs do not require lubrication,so there are no leaks and no oil todispose of.

Clean, efficient and convenient, theICL is the ideal compressionsystem when a small footprint andlow noise level are important. Itsoperating range of 35-105% ofnominal speed is much greaterthan the typical 70-105% ofconventional systems, and itsefficiency remains high and stableover the entire range.
Centrifugal CompressorGE Oil & Gas has been a well-known leader in compressortechnology for over 100 years and our designs have achievedmany milestones in the evolution of the production,transportation and processing sectors of the oil & gasindustry. The ICL combines our renown centrifugalcompressor technology with an electric motor driver in asingle, completely sealed casing that provides an efficient,easily installed and environmentally friendly compressionsolution for oil & gas applications up to 15 MW.
Electric Motor & DriveThe ICL is powered by Converteam high speed motor anddrive technology. The pressurized high speed motor is a highefficiency induction motor with a laminated squirrel cagerotor. This design has been proven by more than 1.5 millionhours of successful operation over a period of fifteen years. The Converteam drive is the same proven hardware for lowand high speed motor and is able to drive the motor up to300 Hz. More than 300 drives are running around the world.
Active Magnetic BearingsWith AMB technology, the rotor is levitated by a precisioncontrol system that accurately regulates the rotor spacing,avoiding any contact of parts and eliminating the need forlubricant. AMB eliminates friction and the leak-prone lube oilsystems of conventional bearings.The AMB system keeps the rotor levitated during starts,normal operation, and stops including emergency shutdowns,and is backed-up with ball bearings which allow the machineto stop without damage.
