By standardizing the five majorsteps a sample undergoes – and managingthe electronic communications between eachone – it delivers a progressive automatedsystem that simplifies and streamlinesworkflow processes, increases efficiencyand accuracy, accelerates throughput, andminimizes operator involvement.

WITH CONTINUOUSFEEDING of samples to theFP1000 Sample Preparation System,any run size proceeds smoothly andrapidly. At the same time, thesamples are tracked and verifiedthroughout the process, reducingerrors, re-runs and incorrect sampleIDs.The user determines whichreagents and lytic system to usebased on the protocol, and they areloaded into the FP1000. Additionally,the number of mixes can beprogrammed by the user, facilitatingaccurate reagent setup results, anddelivering unparalleled flexibility.

BARCODE tracking on the daughter tubes provides paperless positive ID throughoutthe process, while three carousels deliver high throughput for increased lab efficiency(up to 90 daughter tubes per hour in batch mode for tetraCXP). For reduced operatorinvolvement and increased safety, the FP1000’s unique gripping arm transports samplecarousels from storage to processing. By accessing sample tubes through cap piercing – aswell as automatically dispensing antibodies into the daughter tubes – technologists areprotected from potential sample exposure and reproducibility is increased.

THE SAMPLE ID, test request and demographic information are sent from the LIS and captured inthe Instrument Manager.† At the same time, the run information is sent to the FP1000 database. Complexpanels, protocols, reagents and procedures are automatically set up, and a worklist is generated. To ensureaccurate handling, data is transferred electronically from LIS to final results.This virtually eliminatestranscription errors and costly sample re-runs, while freeing valuable techs for more important tasks.

WITH THE SAMPLES PROPERLY PREPARED, the carouselsare moved to the FC 500. The user locates the external worklist fileon the FP1000, and opens it, populating the CXPAcquisition Managerfor processing and barcode-based sample tracking. For enhancedflexibility in labs with multiple instruments, the worklist can besent via ethernet. It can also use native FC 500 or Excel formats,or a combination. To permit the operator to easily work withlistmode data during analysis, it’s stored in a user-created directory.With auto-setup capability, multi-color analysis using either singleor dual laser excitation, and the ability to use a variety of dyes,the award-winning FC 500 delivers unmatched versatility.
