Workplan for working group “Ground Water Flow Model”
GeoInforM Project - LIFE06 TCY/ROS/000267Steering Committee – St. Petersburg, October 2007
MAIN CONCLUSIONS after June study visit in Milan
• whichever application of groundwater flow and transport model it must consider like reference base a regional study;
• the objective declared from the City of St. Petersburg consists in resolving problems of three pilot areas;
• the Province of Milan proposal consists in applying to local scale the SoilGIS model (simplification of Modflow calculation code), with the following implementations: ability to modelling more than one layer and to permit the interactions between different aquifers and superficial water bodies;
• The GWFM working group has the necessity of having data, even if schematic, to begin to trace a first hydrogeological study of regional scale and pilot areas
• Complete information about pilot areas will be ready in November in order to allow the Province of Milan to make a preliminary study of groundwater flow

to implement two functions in SOIL-GIS:• include a multi-layer modelling capability;• include an explicit representation of river-aquifer interaction (“river package” in Modflow 2000).

The data input must be supplied for every layer that we want to modelling. The porosity and permeability values are considered uniform on all the layer thickness while they can change in x and y directions.

The “Amici del Metrobosco - Parco della Lambretta” Committee (http://www.parcolambretta.it) is promoting a concept contest,
"a tree today, a wood tomorrow" This competition is aimed at collecting proposals for the future “Parco della Lambretta”, within the Metrobosco project, promoted by the Province of Milan.The promoters aim at stimulating the creativity and curiosity of students of Italian and foreign faculties of Architecture, Engineering (Construction/Architecture Engineering, Environment Engineering) and Science (Natural Science, Earth Sciences, Environment Sciences, Geology). Future architects, developers or designers are therefore invited to formulate proposals and ideas to create the public park in via Rubattino, Milano, partially covering the area where the Innocenti production plants were located until only a few years ago.
